Birmingham Botanical Gardens (BBG) is looking for a highly motivated Development Officer with  experience to join the small but dedicated Development Team to raise funds to retore and preserve the Gardens for the benefit of everyone now, and for future generations. 
Purpose of Role

This exciting new role is vital to increase the income generating capacity of BBG’s Development Team to enable the charity to deliver its purpose and major development over the next 4+ years. In July BBG was awarded an NLHF grant of £9.075m, and has successfully raised over 90% of the capital funds needed. The priority is to close the capital funding gap in accordance with our fundraising strategy and increase funding for other projects and the day-to-day operation the charity, long term. BBG receives no public subsidy and must raise all income from visitors, trading, events and fundraising. The Development Officer post has been created to increase fundraised income for the charity, cultivating and stewarding an expanded and sustained funding and supporter base.

In line with current priorities, the postholder will be required to raise commercial sponsorship income, and income from major donors/individuals to meet capital and operational targets/KPI’s. The postholder will be expected to create sponsor/donor packages, deliver cultivation events and steward donors and supporters on all aspects of fundraising as directed. The postholder will have experience of managing sponsorship agreements to ensure value, compliance and delivery of benefits. 

The role will share responsibility for the management of data, compliance and stewardship of growing funding streams and support the administration of the Development Function. The Development Team raises and manages funds from grants, trusts and foundations, individuals, organisations, business, legacies, etc, and the new postholder will work with the highly effective and dedicated team of Development Director and Development Manager and with the wider BBG team.

Key Responsibilities

· Achieve income and performance targets in accordance with BBG’s agreed Fundraising Strategy and business needs, as directed by the Development Director.

· Raise funding with compelling case for support from sponsors/from individuals, to meet the targets of the Major project, and  fundraising from other sources such as grants, as agreed.

· Contribute to managing BBG’s development/fundraising function data, ensuring accuracy of data and information on BBG’s Spektrix/CRM system to comply with internal requirements and the Data Protection Act.

· Work with Horticultural, Marketing, Learning & Engagement, Finance Teams and other staff to formulate proposals, maximising opportunities for raising funds to support core functions and projects, once the capital is secured.

· Manage funding contracts with sponsors and those of all Development funders -including payment schedules, high quality impact reports, monitoring and compliance with any conditions of funding.

· High quality personalised stewarding of all donors and supporters, ensuring BBG’s reputation as an exemplary charity is maintained. Respectful approach in all fundraising.

· Research and cultivating funding prospects and submitting high quality well-researched applications, securing new supporters and interest within the wider funding strategy.

· Work with Marketing to manage fundraising messaging and communications, including digital, print and press coverage, all in accordance with fundraising regulation. Liaise with BBG Finance staff to ensure reporting meets BBG’s wider business and charitable requirements.

· Manage any volunteers working in support of the development function at BBG.

· Deliver donor benefits and acknowledgements.

· Demonstrate a commitment to working as a member of the BBG team, assisting with other activities, sometimes working overtime and in the evenings.

· Be happy, confident and proactive in developing Development and Fundraising relationships, in person, beyond the Gardens’ boundaries and representing the charity externally.

The Role

As Head of Individual Giving & Supporter Engagement, you’ll lead the strategic development and delivery of SOS’s public fundraising portfolio – inspiring individuals around the world to take action and give generously for the future of Sumatra’s rainforests and wildlife.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and leading a five-strong team, the Head of Fundraising will shape and deliver the long-term fundraising strategy, strengthen the organisation's positioning as a trusted, high-impact partner, and drive sustainable, multi-year income growth that enables transformational change.

As Head of Fundraising, you will: 

• Lead the development and delivery of a high-level fundraising strategy, securing multi-year six-figure+ partnerships across corporates, trusts, foundations, major donors and HNWIs
• Manage, develop and inspire a team of 5 direct reports (responsibility for 7), fostering a proactive, collaborative and high-performing culture
• Engage senior stakeholders including the CEO, Chair, Trustees and senior partners to unlock networks and open opportunities
• Represent the organisation at senior-level networking events, conferences and sector forums, influencing decision-makers and strengthening brand positioning

Essential skills and experience: 

• A strategic, senior-level fundraiser with a proven track record delivering six-figure, multi-year partnerships from corporates. Experience across trusts, foundations, and/or major donors highly desirable
• A proactive new business mindset, with eagerness to meet with donors and attend events
• Strategic leadership experience, with proven ability to motivate and develop fundraising teams
• An experienced relationship-builder who has used confidence and gravitas to engage CEOs, trustees, C-suite leaders and high-net-worth individuals — and successfuly make compelling asks

The Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and driven Fundraising and Events Lead to join our growing team. This is a new and exciting opportunity to shape the future of M7 Education’s fundraising strategy and be the driving force behind our next phase of growth.

You’ll take the lead in developing new income streams, building strong relationships with donors and fundraisers, and creating inspiring fundraising events and campaigns. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver a comprehensive fundraising strategy to increase income across multiple channels.
• Manage relationships with individual fundraisers, supporting their journeys and ensuring excellent stewardship.
• Plan, coordinate, and deliver fundraising events — both third-party events (such as the SuperHalfs series) and M7-run initiatives.
• Research, write, and submit compelling grant applications to trusts and foundations.
• Lead creative fundraising campaigns that engage new supporters and promote M7 Education’s mission.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, sponsors, and community partners.
• Monitor fundraising performance, prepare reports, and evaluate impact to inform future growth.
• Contribute to the development of a future fundraising team, including volunteers and, in time, staff members.

Person Specification

Essential:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in charity fundraising, with a track record of generating income.
• Proven experience in event planning and delivery.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organisational and project management abilities.
• Confident working independently and taking initiative in a small, fast-moving team.
• Ability to think creatively and strategically about income growth.

Desirable:

• Experience in the education or children’s charity sector.
• Skills in communications, social media, or email campaigns.
• Understanding of sporting events and community fundraising (e.g. marathons, challenges).
• Experience writing successful grant or trust funding applications.

We are looking for you to bring a strong background in community fundraising and a track record in growing fundraising income. Confidence in setting and managing large budgets, reporting on KPIs and adjusting plans as necessary is essential. An understanding of delivering community fundraising products and scaling ideas that support donor acquisition and retention is vital, with the ability to use insight to shape pipeline and stewardship planning. You’ll also be an experienced team leader who can motivate and guide others to deliver results.

We are looking for a passionate and strategic Head of Developing Philanthropy to join the Environmental Funders Network (EFN) in this remote working role.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key part in growing environmental philanthropy across the UK and to help inspire funders to support causes that sustain a thriving planet.

The Role

Working closely with EFN’s Executive Director, you will lead on growing the amount of funding flowing to environmental causes from UK funders – including trusts, foundations, and high-net-worth individuals – by connecting and engaging with those not yet funding environmental causes at scale, and inspiring and supporting them to start giving or to give more.

You will form part of EFN’s Leadership Team, deputising for the Executive Director as needed, and will likely line manage a small team of 3–4 individuals.

You will:

• Revise and implement EFN’s Growing Environmental Philanthropy (GEP) strategy, working with the Executive Director, Board and GEP Advisory Group.
• Raise awareness of the need for environmental philanthropy through partnerships, events, communications and media opportunities.
• Identify and engage new funders and advisors through meetings, events, field trips and speaking engagements.
• Provide inspiration, advice, and practical resources for funders and advisors to start or expand their environmental giving.
• Support wider programme delivery, including the Big Give’s Earth Raise campaign and partnerships with organisations such as the Beacon Collaborative and Climate Lead.
• Contribute to fundraising for EFN’s GEP programme and support EFN’s financial sustainability.

About You

You’ll bring at least five years’ experience in fundraising or a related industry, with a proven track record of building and managing relationships with individual donors or high-net-worth clients. You’ll be a confident communicator and creative thinker with a strong commitment to environmental and social justice.

You will have:

• Strategic leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring teams.
• Excellent relationship management and influencing skills, with confidence in public speaking and representing EFN at high-profile events.
• Experience developing and delivering inclusive, outcome-focused events and programmes.
• Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise a substantial workload and work independently.
• Solid IT skills, including CRM systems (preferably Salesforce) and virtual meeting platforms.

• Experience coordinating networks of funders or organisations.
