ROLE OVERVIEW

You will be a passionate and ambitious leader with the skills, knowledge and experience to drive Membership retention and growth whilst listening to our diverse membership base to understand the areas that are important to them to help us to support their specific needs in their areas.

You will have a dynamic approach with the ability to combine business development, relationship management, stakeholder engagement and operational oversight to ensure that RLSS UK’s membership thrives and aligns with our purpose, mission and vision.

RLSS UK members include Lifesavers, Lifeguards, Licence to Operate Members, Lifesaving Academy members, Honorary Members, and Staff.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Regular communications and support to branches and lifesaving clubs
• Engage with our members to understand their needs and future opportunities to support their roles in their communities and beyond
• Conduct research and horizon scan for new opportunities for our members
• Conduct research to identify and understand potential new members and opportunities to support growth and meet need
• Conduct research to identify and connect with relevant external stakeholders
• Drive new membership onboarding, ensuring a seamless and effective experience
• Ensure clubs achieve and maintain the appropriate accreditation in line with RLSS UK requirements, policies and processes
• Develop an annual plan of community engagement and roadshows with members and non-members to raise awareness of the work of RLSS UK and our members, to recruit new members and share water safety and drowning prevention education and campaigns
• Ensure clear and concise processes are in place to support membership experience, retention and growth
• Work collaboratively with all RLSS UK teams to raise awareness of our awards and qualifications offer. Collaborate to adapt offerings based on member feedback and emerging industry trends
• Develop tailored marketing materials to support our membership offer and recruit new members.
• Represent RLSS UK in meetings with key stakeholders and to share outcomes and impact to further the society’s purpose, mission and vision.
• Respond to membership queries and provide an excellent service together with timely responses
• Support the implementation, update and oversight of the CRM system to improve member engagement tracking and data management.
• Manage data collection processes, including compliance requirements of membership criteria
• Support the development of thought leadership pieces, contributing to annual reports and ensure high-quality written outputs
• Support the planning, organising and execution of events, including membership forums and conferences ensuring seamless delivery and high attendee satisfaction
• Support the development and refinement of directorate strategies
• Lead and deliver an annual membership survey and analysis to produce meaningful feedback
• Ensure that all membership processes and policies are up to date
• Attend the RLSS UK Sports Committee
• Assist with the implementation of the Lifesaving Sport Strategy, and support the growth in participation in Lifesaving Sport events
• Work closely with the Volunteering Team, particularly in relation to volunteers within RLSS UK branches and clubs
• Actively develop initiatives that broaden the demographic diversity of the RLSS UK membership

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead on and support ad hoc projects as required
• Contribute to the successful operation of the charity by undertaking such other tasks as may from time to time be required including all other duties reasonably associated with your role, as directed by the Line Manager.
• Ensure compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 by complying with internal information governance policies and maintaining upto-date documentation as part of RLSS UK’s compliance programme.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Relevant Experience, Skills and/or Aptitudes

• At least 10+ years’ experience in a Membership role
• Significant experience of working at a leadership role level ideally in a membership organisation
• Demonstrable experience of positively interacting, engaging and influencing at all levels including with senior management and external stakeholders
• Demonstrable experience of membership retention and acquisition
• Demonstrable experience of successfully pitching new approaches to prospective members, ideally in a membership organisation
• Demonstrable experience of delivering member-focused solutions within a membership organisation
• Excellent communication, engagement and interpersonal skills
• Excellent presentation, listening and negotiation skills
• Proficiency in CRM software and MS Office applications
• Willingness and ability to travel as required for the role including occasional evenings and weekends

Desirable Relevant Experience, Skills and/or Aptitudes

• Knowledge and understanding of RLSS UK
• Skilled income generator with experience in achieving income targets, possibly with a previous account management background or experience of a similar B2B membership
• Understanding and experience of the application of safeguarding law

Overall purpose

We are looking for a talented and ambitious individual to join our team to help us deliver partnership management to our corporate partners. Having expanded our services into Birmingham and Greater Manchester for the first time, fundraising and charitable activities with our corporate partners are a key area for growth to ensure that our organisational development is sustainable and permanent. The main purpose of the Partnerships Officer role is to support the Partnership Management team on the delivery of first-class account management to our portfolio of corporate partners. Each partnership at Breaking Barriers is bespoke, comprising fundraising, skilled volunteering, awareness raising and, crucially, placement and job opportunities for our refugee clients. This diverse role is perfect for someone looking to make a difference and gain experience working within a corporate partnerships team. The successful candidate will provide crucial administrative, internal/external comms and wider support to the partnership management team. You will work closely with the Breaking Barriers delivery teams to help ensure our shared value partnerships have the maximum impact for our refugee clients.

Key responsibilities 

• Supporting the Partnerships Managers and wider Partnerships team to help deliver bespoke partner activities across our portfolio of 50+ partners.
• Support the Partnerships team with administrative support, financial tracking, and monitoring and evaluation reporting.
• Work closely with the Partnership Managers and Employment teams to support the delivery of workshops, placements, hiring pathways, and volunteering activity with each corporate partner, as well as any additional programmes which are developed to support our refugee clients.

This maternity cover role will have a significant and stabilising impact, ensuring co-ordination in governance, HR, and compliance for the Union of Brunel Students. The postholder will act as a key operational anchor, supporting legal integrity, staff wellbeing, and organisational continuity.

Job purpose:

To provide experienced and effective strategic leadership, and operational delivery, of the fundraising and marketing initiatives of The Mix and its trading subsidiary, 127 Trading Ltd, to generate a diverse and sustainable stream of income to enable The Mix to deliver its charitable activities in the years ahead.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic fundraising and marketing professional to develop and execute an ambitious commercial strategy to enable us to provide even greater support to young people in Suffolk.

 Background

The Mix Stowmarket Ltd. is an established youth charity working with young people aged 9–25 across Mid Suffolk. With a committed team, a flagship youth centre, and a trading arm, 127 Trading Ltd, operating two cafés, we’re rooted in community impact and innovation.

We exist to inspire, empower, and support young people to build resilience, thrive, and unlock their full potential. Working from our centre in Stowmarket and a second base in Needham Market, we deliver a diverse range of programmes including youth mentoring, alternative education, school-based support, and open-access youth sessions. Our work is shaped by strong values, a solution-focused’ approach, and a deep belief in the potential of every young person.

Alongside our charitable work, we operate a social enterprise trading arm, 127 Trading Ltd, which runs two cafés that provide training and employment opportunities for young people, whilst generating vital income for our work. We have recently appointed our new Chief Executive Officer who takes up post in October 2025. We now seek a strategic and operationally savvy Head of Fundraising and Marketing to support the senior team as they lead The Mix into its next chapter, with prime responsibility to generate a diverse and sustainable stream of income to enable The Mix to deliver its charitable activities in the years ahead.

Overview of the role

As the organisation’s Head of Fundraising and Marketing, you will be an experienced, ambitious, enthusiastic, and dynamic professional, who is passionate about fundraising and maximising income generation.

Working closely with our new CEO and committed trustees and staff, you will develop and implement fundraising and marketing strategies that align to our vision and drive the expansion of our crucial support to young people in Suffolk.

You will have a thorough understanding of planning, organising, and delivering successful fundraising campaigns, initiatives, and events with a strong attention-to-detail. You will be comfortable working at a leadership and strategic level but also unafraid to roll up your sleeves and create bids, funding proposals, and marketing materials.

You will be a natural ambassador, working with the CEO to build partnerships at the local and regional level, and your ambassadorial skills will help raise our profile and leverage our networks and connections.

The Head of Fundraising and Marketing is responsible for the day-to-day marketing and management oversight of The Mix and 127 Trading Ltd and the management of its marketing staff and budgets.

Critical to your success will be a genuine passion and enthusiasm for transforming the lives of young people.

Main Responsibilities

1. Strategic leadership

· Develop and lead the multi-channel fundraising and marketing strategy to meet agreed income targets and support 

         long-term sustainability for both The Mix and 127 Trading Ltd.

· Work closely with the CEO and Trustees, to align fundraising efforts with the strategic goals of the charity and bring               insight into income generation and stakeholder engagement.

· Actively contribute to the senior leadership team, shaping organisational policies and strategic direction, ensuring the           integration of fundraising, marketing and operational activities.

2. Fundraising and income generation

· Drive the development of diverse income streams, including major donor fundraising, corporate partnerships,                         individual giving, legacies, lotteries, community fundraising and events.

· Proactively seek new opportunities to secure long-term, multi-year funding through well-targeted funding applications           and corporate proposals.

· Build strong partner relationships with a focus on stewardship, retention, and growth.

· Monitor performance, analyse data, and drive continuous improvement.

· Chair the Fundraising sub-committee and contribute to the Data, Impact and Evidence Action Group

· Responsible for completion of all bids, grants and funding applications and ensuring that funders receive appropriate             ongoing feedback.
 

3. Marketing and communications

· Develop marketing materials and campaigns that effectively communicate the charity’s mission, vision and                             achievements to various audiences for both The Mix and 127 Trading Ltd.

· Lead the management of digital platforms, ensuring consistent and inspiring content across all channels, including the           website, social media, email and printed materials.

· Ensure that brand messaging is consistent, clear and aligned across The Mix and 127 Trading Ltd to enhance public             recognition and reputation.

· Grow awareness of the charity at a local and regional level, monitoring success through market research.

· Develop compelling narratives and stories of the charity’s impact to engage partners and encourage continued                     support.

4. Team leadership and development

· Lead and develop the Fundraising & Marketing team, fostering a collaborative and positive culture.

· Mentor and support team members in achieving their professional development goals, ensuring they attain business             objectives.

· Regularly monitor and review team performance to meet income generation and communication objectives.

5. Operational excellence

· Ensure compliance with data protection laws, fundraising regulations and ethical guidelines across all fundraising and           marketing activities.

· Review and improve the use of the website and develop systems to track donor engagement, monitor income and                 ensure data integrity and transparency.

· Work closely with finance and operations teams to oversee the management and monitoring of fundraising targets.

·Work closely with the Youth Work team to provide insight to funding opportunities available and marketing and                       fundraising activities occurring.

About the Role 

We’re seeking a passionate, skilled, and self-motivated individual to join our team as a Peer Support Lead. This role focuses on supporting people from a range of culturally diverse backgrounds across West Yorkshire, including but not limited to South Asian communities. 

You’ll lead and expand a network of peer volunteers who work within local communities to promote hepatitis awareness, reduce stigma, and improve access to testing, treatment, and care. You’ll collaborate closely with Leeds Teaching Hospitals and The Hepatitis C Trust’s national and regional teams to ensure culturally sensitive, community-led engagement. 

This is more than a job it’s a chance to make a tangible difference in communities disproportionately affected by hepatitis C and liver disease 

Key Responsibilities 

• Coordinate and support peer volunteers across diverse communities in West Yorkshire

Job Summary

The People Administrator supports the effective delivery of all employee life cycle activities. With a focus on ensuring processes are followed accurately, efficiently, in line with audit and compliance standards and enabling a positive employee experience.

This is a cross-functional role, working closely with Head of People, to ensure smooth onboarding, offboarding, and employee changes. Plus supporting the board of trustees with email communication, booking meetings and collating responses to policy sign off and checking availability for main board and subcommittee meetings.

The People Administrator will be the first point of contact for employee queries related to policies, systems, and HR processes.

General People Administration & Support

• Act as the first point of contact for People-related queries, providing support both face-to-face and electronically, ensuring professional and timely responses.
• Work with others across the organisation to promote awareness and provide support where required on EDI and internal Access.
• Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Head of People, including data entry, booking & delivering inductions, photocopying, scanning, preparing contractual documentation, and general correspondence.
• Maintain accurate and efficient records of all People-related activities, ensuring data is securely stored and handled in compliance with GDPR legislation.
• Monitor and manage the People and Recruitment emails, responding to and redirecting enquiries efficiently and appropriately.

• Deliver effective onboarding and induction processes for new starters, ensuring all steps are followed and documented, and contributing to a positive candidate experience.
• Assist with job offer processes, including drafting conditional offer letters, conducting reference checks, verifying right-to-work documentation, and updating relevant systems.
• Ensure effective communication with the Payroll Officer in relation to new starters and leavers, including checking accrued holiday balances prior to confirming leaver letters.
• Respond to reference requests for current and former employees in a timely manner.

People Systems, Data & Reporting

• Confidently use systems and other digital tools to input and maintain people’s data accurately.
• Run regular reports and provide performance or management information (MI) within agreed timescales.
• Analyse data to validate accuracy and identify trends or issues that require further attention.

· Maintain and update organisation charts and headcount data on a monthly basis

· Contribute to regular updating of the People section of the intranet.

• Carry out general People administration and maintain electronic based systems for all staff including existing and new employee details, annual leave, leaver administration, payroll changes, absence and training records.

Meetings & Communication & Board Support

• Provide administrative support for employee relations casework and people-related projects, including scheduling, document preparation, and note-taking.
• Attend and provide support at formal meetings, including disciplinary, grievance, or performance reviews, as required.
• Accurately take and distribute minutes for internal meetings, including Board, Committee, and annual staff meetings.
• Set up and coordinate meeting logistics (both virtual and in-person), including booking rooms, IT setup, and arranging access or other relevant requirements.
• Arrange and distribute board papers as directed by the CEO, record responses, and manage related meeting logistics.
• Be the key contact with the Board of Trustees – arranging the Board meetings and other engagements with them.
• Manage Companies House & Charity Commission submissions for Trustees, act as a custodian of their information and documents.

Continuous Improvement and Projects

• Support the delivery and organisation of ad-hoc People projects/ events, wellbeing activities, and internal engagement initiatives.

About the role

The resettlement team provides advice and support for refugees on resettlement and relocation schemes to help them access services and mainstream provision and establish community links. Working closely with local stakeholders and in partnership with other voluntary sector agencies running similar services across the UK, the Refugee Council resettlement team promotes both the integration and independence of this group.

The Refugee Council has agreed to work in partnership with Migration Yorkshire and Local Authorities across Yorkshire and Humberside to deliver the regional Resettlement programmes. Since 2022 this has included supporting people who have arrived on the Homes for Ukraine scheme in Doncaster/East Riding. Both Doncaster and East Riding Councils have agreed to a 6-month extension to resettlement support on the scheme. There are a small number of new arrivals in the areas and changes to the Homes for Ukraine scheme, including visa extensions (UPE) mean that some clients still require some assistance.

The role will principally consist of offering support on single issues via drop-in, appointments, outreach and occasional home-visits. This will include offering information and assistance with the Ukraine Permission Extension scheme. The role may include offering casework support for clients in crisis for slightly longer periods with agreement from line managers. The role will also involve introducing our service to clients newly arrived on Homes for Ukraine in Doncaster/East Riding and supporting with immediate needs.

The Resettlement Worker (Doncaster/East Riding Homes for Ukraine) will work alongside other Resettlement Workers in the city, sharing workspaces. The role will involve lone-working, including home visits in accordance with Refugee Council’s lone-working policies.
