The role will be a stimulating and inspiring opportunity for an experienced equality and discrimination lawyer to work pro actively and strategically to use the law as a tool for change. 

BEO is a civil rights charity that was set up to challenge and dismantle systemic racism. We work with Black communities by using campaigning, policy and research in conjunction with the law to effect meaningful change. 
Legal services are central to BEO. We are therefore looking for someone of 4yrs PQE who has experience in social welfare, human rights, public and administration law and who seeks an opportunity to use those skills specifically in the area of challenging systemic racism. 

In the last year we have been developing our relationships with partner organisations, ranging from community groups, our stakeholder law firms, NGOs and law firms experienced in equality and discrimination law, to deliver legal services. The role holder will be required to build on and expand these relationships so that BEO can offer quality legal advice to Back communities in the nations and regions across the United Kingdom. 
We are building our internal legal team so that we can provide targeted legal support to Black communities. We are looking for someone to work with the Director of Legal Services and Policy to ensure that high quality legal advice, support and representation are the hallmark of BEO. 

Apart from delivering targeted legal advice and representation and identifying and running strategic litigation cases, the role holder will be required to think creatively to assist in fundraising and campaigning to develop a sustainable legal service. BEO does not have a Legal Aid Agency contract so self funds all legal work. BEO is a small team, so the role holder must have the skills and confidence to work on their own initiative as well as with members of other teams in BEO.

Our location

We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. But one thing we have learned from the pandemic, is that we are able to work very effectively from home. INTRODUCTION TO THE GLOBAL HEALTH WORKFORCE PROGRAMME

We are looking for 3 Administrative Assistants based in  1x Addis Ababa Ethiopia, 1x Hargeisa Somaliland & 1x Lilongwe Malawi

Funded by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), and managed by the Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET), the Global Health Workforce Programme (GHWP) aims to develop the health workforce (HWF) in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria and Somaliland supporting them to build stronger, more resilient health systems for post-pandemic recovery and to make progress towards UHC.

Grants for UK-LMIC and cross-LMIC health partnerships will be awarded to respond to national HWF priorities identified through a scoping assessment carried out by THET with DHSC, FCDO, national Governments and stakeholders (such as local World Health Organisation offices). These grants will run until December 2025.   

With a strong focus on building local ownership and sustainability, these partnerships will contribute to the following programmatic outcomes:

1. Partnerships contributing towards improved health workforce leadership capacity aligned with health workforce strategies, that will support reduction in gender inequalities.

2. Partnerships aligning with and contributing towards retention and wellbeing strategies.

3. Improved number and quality of training opportunities for health workers.

4. Co-developed and documented learning on health workforce interventions shared with key national and international stakeholders.

THET will award 28-36 strategic grants of £100,000 – £350,000 that feed into the country scoping priorities and outputs outlined above. The grants will broadly be split across the six countries; however, the exact split is dependent on the number and quality of applications received and broader priorities.   

20-28 smaller grants of up to £50,000 will also be available for projects that tackle specific areas such as innovation, rural health facilities, diaspora engagement, leadership opportunities for women and protected groups, and the climate crisis.   

Grants will be available to UK-LMIC health partnerships and LMIC-LMIC health partnerships. There are no institutional eligibility criteria as long as ODA rules are followed, so grants can be awarded to healthcare providers, royal colleges, universities, professional associations, NGOs, alliances, diaspora networks etc, but not to Ministry of Health departments.

As a Ubele Programme Assistant, you will be a member of the Community Wealth Building hub supporting our Programme Manager with the Agbero2100 London programme by overseeing administrative tasks, communicating with our partners ensuring resource availability for the project team from project inception to completion.

Main duties & Responsibilities

• To act as the first point of contact for the Agbero2100 London programme, responding to and redirecting enquiries as appropriate.

About the Role:
We are offering a unique opportunity for motivated and analytical individual to join WaterAid as a Finance Apprentice, joining a cohort of other apprentices across WaterAid. Our rotational 3-year scheme will offer applicant training and development across various finance aspects across both management and financial accounting within the UK and Internationally. You will rotate between a role in the UK Management Accounting Team and International Financial Accounting Team. With mentoring and coaching from your line manager and WaterAid, you will pursue a chartered accountancy qualification (ACCA or CIMA) and begin a financial career in the Not-for-Profit sector.

This is a great opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career or looking for a career change. You will also have an opportunity to shadow other teams within WaterAid to complement your studies and interests.

The role will work with the WaterAid UK finance team, providing development opportunities through exposure to more senior stakeholders, participation in strategic project work and by gaining experience of WaterAid's work. About You:

What you’ll be doing

You will support the evaluation of our growing range of programmes. As part of an evaluation team of five people, you will be responsible for managing the evaluation process, taking the lead for our work with young people and adults, including our literacy and employability programmes, criminal justice work and projects utilising role models to support young people’s literacy.

You will provide evaluation support at every stage of the programme cycle, from planning and budgeting for evaluation as part of programme bids or proposals, to supporting programme design and developing draft evaluation plans. You will design evaluation tools and work with the programme and delivery teams to collect data, analyse data and write up findings.

The majority of this work you will be able to do remotely. However, you will need to be able to be in London when necessary for team days, and travel to programme locations for face to face work.

As a research post, you will need an undergraduate degree in a social science as well as experience delivering evaluation projects from start to finish. This should include including writing proposals / literature reviews, data collection, quantitative and qualitative data analysis and write up your findings. You will also need experience of applying different research methodologies and practices, great analytical skills and the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, in different styles and for different audiences.

Most importantly, you will also need an understanding of the challenges of working with our target audiences and how best to overcome any barriers and collect data from them.

The Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a staff nurse to join our existing CHAS at Home team. With a base in Inverness the team works in families’ homes providing the highest level of family centred care to support the needs of babies, children and young people with life shortening conditions and their families.

As an experienced nurse you will be supported with an induction to palliative and end of life care, exploring areas such as advanced communication, symptom management, pain management and development of advanced clinical skills such as PN, PD and ventilation.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Provide a high standard of palliative nursing care to children and young people who have life-shortening conditions, through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care plans, ensuring that the care provision is adapted to meet the complex needs of the individual.
• Provide nursing care at end of life and bereavement support including last office procedures, for the child, young person and their family, with support as required.
• As necessary, provide care for the child, young person and their family in a variety of settings, ensuring the care plan meets the needs of the individual.
• Collaborate and liaise with a range of professionals to meet the needs of the child, young person and their family taking opportunities to promote and raise awareness of the services provided by CHAS
• Maintain and accurately updates all written and electronic records in accordance with appropriate legislation and organisational standards.

We are opening our first Youth Hub in Middlesbrough this summer. It is our intention to deliver open access youth services with a particular focus around food education, employment and food aid, by creating a training kitchen and cafe.

What will you be doing?

Ahead of the KFC Youth Foundation Hub opening you will be feet on the ground in Middlesbrough during the development of the Youth Hub to opening, supporting with the recruitment of youth workers and hub employees, engaging and recruiting young people and co-designing opening programming and the opening of the hub.

Service Delivery & Partnership

• Responsible for the management and preparation(s) of programme delivery - play and youth work and early help provision onsite, that meets the needs of children, young people and families including through direct and partnership delivery with third sector providers.
• Develop and maintain the support needed for a varied 7-day programme of term-time and holiday youth provision (open access and targeted); inclusive of sports, arts, cultural and recreational activity that promotes the development of physical and emotional well-being
• You will have a local knowledge and be able to develop a meaningful dialogue with children, young people and families, with the purpose of assessing their needs and creating services to meet them.
• Establish an inclusive culture within the youth hub; where all are welcome and supported to participate, and where respect, honesty, and trust enables children and young people to thrive.
• Develop initiatives and partnerships to build strong links with the local community and support the growth of positive perceptions of children, young people and their families.
• Implementing methods for observable or measurable indicators of success.
• Organise regular outreach to facilitate the involvement of children, young people from across the ward and borough; targeting those who have had little contact with services and may be hard to engage.
• Work with other key agencies to manage risk.

Leadership

• Ensure all staff are aware of practice standards, expectations and timescales, and establishing a culture of responsibility and accountability building trust, good morale and teamwork.
• Manage service area delivery in a manner that promotes equality of opportunity and collaborative working; ensuring that all youth workers and hub employees are aware of the requirement to deliver non-discriminatory services and to promote greater equity for disadvantaged groups.
• Consistently promote and apply the KFCYF policies and standards in managing employee sickness absence, unsatisfactory performance, conduct, discipline, and grievances, and customer complaints according to the Foundation’s policies.
• Support the recruitment and induction of staff and carrying out regular supervision and annual performance appraisals for line reports.
• Take responsibility for staff timetables, rotas, and annual leave; arranging and authorising any necessary staff cover that may be required.
• Take authority for expenditure for events and activities within established KFCYF financial processes and accounting for all budget spending as required.
• Ensure that KFCYF policy and procedures for health and safety are adhered to and that all equipment is maintained, taking action as necessary to ensure compliance.
• Ensure risk assessments are carried out for the premises, activities and services and updated as and when necessary.
• Ensure regular health and safety audits are carried out and that any areas of non-compliance are quickly rectified.

Administration

• Oversee the keeping of accurate and up to date records of attendance data and other management information as required.
• Maintain records of interventions; keeping files current, well organised, and able to provide concise and accurate information for the Foundation on outcomes achieved.
• Prepare and present quarterly reports for the review of the Foundation Manager/ Trustees

The KFC Youth Foundation is the corporate foundation that was setup in 2015 and is financially supported by KFC UK&I. The KFC Youth Foundation is a charity.

Since its inception the KFC Youth Foundation has made donations and grants of more than £8m. In 2021 we became a community grant maker, offering grants of up to £2,500 to grass roots organisations working with young people in their communities. The Head of Programmes, forming part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and reporting directly to the CEO, is a critical role holding overall responsibility and management of Youth Realities’ programme delivery and development. 

Youth Realities currently runs four core programmes, underpinning our three outlined priority pillars: prevention, intervention and healing.

• Deepin Relationships - healthy relationships education in communities and schools 
• Young Women's IDVA Support - specialist, long term support for young survivors of abuse and violence in their close relationships 
• Deepin Dance - a weekly dance space for young women aged 16-25 who have survived relationship violence 
• Wellbeing Activities - regular community-based wellbeing workshops, trips and creative days for young people aged 11-25

The charity currently engages over 100 young people each year in intervention and healing activities, with an additional target of 1500 young people per year to be engaged in the Deepin Relationships programme through funding awarded from May 2024 - May 2026. 

The primary role of the Head of Programmes is to oversee the delivery, development and evaluation of all programmes, which will include direct line management of all delivery staff (currently seven).

Youth Realities is currently going through an exciting transitional period, as the current Founder and CEO is leaving the charity in August 2024 and a new CEO will be joining our excellent team. Situated in the Programmes, Policy & Impact Directorate, and reporting into the Head of UK Programmes, the Programme Lead, Carer Poverty Alleviation is a new role linked to the development of a new major programme operating in England, Scotland, and Wales. The Carer Poverty Alleviation Programme is a new Carers Trust programme under our strategic goal that no carer is pushed into poverty or is financially disadvantaged by their caring role.

The Programme Lead role is the fulcrum for this new partnership programme, will be comfortable to lead within and outside of the organisation and in developing a new team to drive the programme to success.
