About the role

As Marketing and Communications Assistant, you will help us tell compelling stories about the work we do and the difference we make to children’s lives.  This exciting role would suit someone looking to gain experience in the charity sector and learn more about different areas of marketing and fundraising.  Experience of using Adobe InDesign is essential. 

Key responsibilities

The workload will be varied and rewarding.  Key responsibilities will include:

• Assist in developing marketing and fundraising campaigns from concept to completion.
• Design and produce print and digital materials, and support basic video editing.
• Create social media content, schedule posts, and update website content.
• Assist in marketing our mental health services to schools and promoting access to our family centres.
• Work with service teams to design engaging resources to support our work with children and families.
• Contribute to events, deliver presentations and manage communications with supporters.
• Help to distribute gifts and food to hundreds of disadvantaged families at Christmas.

BACKGROUND

Ashiana is a ‘by and for’ women led BME VAWG service with 30 years’ experience in delivering a holistic range of specialist services to South Asian, Turkish and Middle Eastern women affected by Violence Against Women & Girls (VAWG).

OUR SERVICES

Ashiana runs three refuges with a total of 29 bedspaces; specifically for women aged 16-35 fleeing forced marriage. This multi award winning project is the only service of its kind in the UK and is highly innovative in terms of addressing an area of significant need not met in other refuge provision. Within these refuges we designate a number of bedspaces for women with no recourse to public funds. We offer an advice and support service to women and girls who are experiencing VAWG, enabling them to make informed decisions and exit violent relationships. We provide a legal service supporting women with no recourse to public funds to help resolve their immigration status.

Counselling is offered for women and girls affected by VAWG. The counselling service works from an integrative stance, with the focus of providing a holistic service whereby we also work alongside other services and provide specialist domestic violence group work. The emphasis of therapeutic work with our clients is from a trauma informed model.

We also deliver an education programme for young people in secondary schools in East London aimed at preventing domestic violence and enabling young people experiencing domestic violence to access appropriate services. The prevention service includes delivering a whole school approach in schools to young people as well as group work to women and girls across North East London boroughs as well as community engagement activities and delivery. We deliver a range of awareness raising workshops for young people in the community and training on domestic violence for professionals in the voluntary and statutory sector.

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Senior Administrative Assistant to provide high-quality administrative and organisational support across the school. This is a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of our office and business functions.

A central part of this role involves accurately taking minutes at HR and staff-related meetings, ensuring clear records and timely follow-up of agreed-upon actions. The postholder will also assist with financial administration and provide wider administrative support to colleagues across the school.

Key Responsibilities

Job purpose

· To support two Project Officers with the delivery of Nourish in 40 schools in Hertfordshire (primary, secondary and SEND settings) over 3 years

Key tasks include

· Recruit schools to take part in Nourish

· Shadow and support project team to deliver in person food audits in schools

About the Role

As a receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for MSI staff, visitors, and contractors. Duties include offering administrative support across the organization, welcoming and greeting guests who visit the business.

You will also coordinate front-desk activities, including distributing correspondence, Mail, deliveries and redirecting phone calls. To be successful in this role, you should have a pleasant personality, as this is also a customer service role. The role also requires that you should also be able to deal with emergencies in a timely and effective manner, while streamlining office operations. Multitasking and being able to manage demands are timely essential for this position.

Key responsibilities:

• Telephone Calls: answer the main phone, transfer calls, and take messages in a professional succinct manner using tact and discretion as required
• Visitors: welcome visitors to the building and ensure they are signed in and inform the team member their visitor has arrived
• Deliveries: on arrival of deliveries, contract the team member and ensure the stock is taken to the appropriate location
• Mail: sort post into relevant pigeonholes and distribute to teams in a timely manner. Inform team members of ‘signed for’ or urgent mail. Collect and prepare outgoing letters and parcels for Royal Mail, DHL, or other courier services collection.
• Meetings: approve room bookings on the intranet, arrange for projectors, refreshments, and lunch as and when required.
• Order office supplies: stationary, leaflets and other publications as and when required
• Typing: including routine correspondence, listings, and reports (using Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
• General office duties: faxing, filing, photocopying, and franking mail
• Provide occasional administrative support to other MSI teams
• Cover holiday and sickness: ensuring the front desk is always covered
• Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable, with all necessary stationery and material (e.g.,pens, forms, and brochures)
• Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/email
• Receive, sort, and distribute daily mail/deliveries
• Maintain office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk (monitor logbook, issue visitor badges)
• Keep updated records of office expenses and costs

We are looking for an individual with a passion for international education and cultural exchange to join the Fulbright Awards team. 

You will be responsible for supporting the programme managers in all aspects of the administration of the Fulbright Award programmes with a particular emphasis on the US Awards side where US individuals apply for a summer programme,
masters or research in the UK. 

This role involves coordinating the receipt of all US applications, organising interview panels, and preparing materials to support the selection process. It also includes managing the logistics and delivery of key Fulbright Programme events for US and UK scholars, liaising with external partners to arrange venues, catering, and accommodation. The role provides an opportunity to support scholars directly, responding to individual needs, queries, and requests for assistance. 

The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest or experience in international education or cultural exchange, coupled with a strong willingness to learn. A passion for diversity, inclusion, and equity is essential, along with enthusiasm for working with people from a wide range of backgrounds.

We are recruiting for a temporary Finance Assistant for an international development charity You will assist the Finance team with the day-to-day financial activities , ensuring appropriate finance management, accounting, control and reporting. The UK finance team, work in close collaboration with the finance team of our affiliate International based in LA and Split.

Part time 3 days per week (one day will be office based)

The Role
Appropriate and timely processing of accounts payable function;
Responding to payment requests using BACS and international transfers as appropriate
Timely disbursement of staff expenses;
Set-up payments in the bank account in relation to UK suppliers and employees;
Prepare vouchers for Foreign exchange transfers;
Tracing foreign exchange settlements and flag outstanding settlements;
Ensure uploading documents on Onbase Scanning and filing of bank statements, bank reconciliation, monthly folders for transactions during the month, third party documents and correspondence.
Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.

The Candidate
Experience working as finance assistant / accounts payable
Working towards a recognised accountancy qualification AAT qualified, ACCA, CIMA entry level;
Proficient in using data analysis tools in excel for reports etc.
Proficient in Microsoft Word Package;
Prior experience of using ERM or accounting packages;
Typically, Bachelors Degree in finance, Accounting Accounting.
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
