This role is to support the Church of England's work in the House of Lords in relation to all matters of education policy. Working closely with the Bishop of Portsmouth (the Chair of the National Society for Education and Lead Bishop for Education) and a range of other Lords Spiritual, you will be providing advice, supporting policy articulation, maintaining links with MPs, peers and staff, and working with NSE senior staff to ensure effective communication of education policy.

The Church of England has a unique role in the education system, providing around 20% of all schools (around 4700 schools). Its national work is overseen by the National Society for Education (Church of England & Church in Wales), working closely in partnership with Diocesan Boards of Education, school and trust leaders, alongside strategic leaders in the FE and HE sectors.

The NSE is chaired by the Bishop of Portsmouth, who has also sat in the House of Lords since December 2025. He regularly speaks in debates and works across the House with a wide range of peers, also working very closely with ministers, particularly in the Department for Education. This role is to provide parliamentary and policy support to him and a range of other Lords Spiritual who will speak on education issues.

The role sits inside the NSE team, line managed by the Head of Education Policy, and then working closely with the wider team of other Parliamentary and Policy Researchers across the wider Church of England. It provides an excellent opportunity for someone looking to support the Church's work in education at the most strategic level.

• Supporting the Bishop of Portsmouth (Chair of the National Society for Education and Lead Bishop for Education), and a range of other Lords Spiritual speaking on education policy in the House of Lords
• Advising on and researching materials for questions, speeches and other interventions in the Lords. Monitoring and keeping the Bishops informed about relevant parliamentary developments and timetables.
• Liaising with MPs, Peers and their staff, Parliamentary officials, and others in and outside the NCIs on behalf of the Bishops.
• Drafting material for online and print publication about the Bishops' work, in close collaboration with communications officers in Church House and the Diocese of Portsmouth.
• Providing occasional research resource for the Bishops in their diocesan work, as and when required. This may involve researching and drafting talks, articles and lectures.
• Supporting the Head of Education Policy and Chief Education Officer in their wider policy-related responsibilities as and when required.
• Working with the wider Parliamentary Team to ensure that the Bishops are kept abreast of the wider activities of the Lords Spiritual and the Parliamentary Team

The Parliamentary and Policy Researcher will be expected to regularly in London (at our office base - Church House, Westminster), and at the House of Lords. Flexibility in the working pattern will be required, due to the Bishops' duty weeks and other commitments in the Lords, as well as parliamentary sitting and recess dates.

The postholder will need to have access to the Parliamentary estate, so will be required to apply for a security pass sponsored by the Bishops, and will be expected to abide by the rules and codes set by Parliament that accompany the issuing of a pass. The postholder will also have access to the facilities offered to NCI staff, observing the responsibilities and protocols which apply to all staff of the NCIs.

ESSENTIAL

Curieus Games CIC is a UK Community Interest Company, in the process of converting into a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation). Our mission is to raise energy literacy through play. We make energy and climate education fun and accessible. Our vision is to inspire and attract young people to work in the energy sector.

Our flagship programme, Megawatt, consists of an energy-based educational card game supported by a series of workshops. The object of the programme is to engage students on energy and sustainability through gamification and ethical debates.

By transitioning into a charity, the potential grants we can apply for increases significantly. This role has been created to take ownership of this grant pipeline as Megawatt scales up across the UK.

Job summary

We're looking for an organised, proactive individual to own the day-to-day running of our grant pipeline. This will range from researching grant opportunities and drafting applications, through to managing compliance, tracking grant finances, and delivering funder reports. You’ll be working closely with the Founder and School Engagement Manager.

Job outline

Grant applications

• Research new grant opportunities and maintain accurate records of live grants and deadlines.
• Draft and submit grant applications, with support from the Founder.
• Coordinate with the School Engagement Manager to identify eligible schools and handover successful grants for delivery.

Grant administration, finances and compliance

• Manage grant conditions, compliance and funder reporting from award through to close.
• Monitor spend against grant budgets and flag underspend or overspend.
• Support the development of improved operations and processes for grant management.
• Identify new income streams and fundraising opportunities.

Essential criteria

• Organised, detail-oriented and independent.
• Experience in grant administration, fundraising support, or charity operations.
• Confident written communicator.
• Comfortable managing finances at the level of budget tracking and reporting.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote, small-team environment.
• Proficient with digital tools.
• Must be a UK resident with the right to work in the UK.

Desirable criteria

• Experience writing grant applications, particularly for charitable trusts, foundations, or public sector funders.
• Experience working in or with the education sector.
• Familiarity with restricted fund management and charity finances.
• Knowledge of or interest in energy, sustainability, or climate education.
• Experience building or improving operational systems and processes.

Salary and benefits

• £36,000 gross FTE (pro rata)
• Around 22.5 hours per week, fully remote with flexible working hours, with an option to work term time only

• 6 weeks holiday including bank holidays (pro rata)

Beacon Changemakers - Operations Manager is a remote role suited to an individual based in Southeast England. The role combines the challenge of working in a small, focused team delivering a unique international scholarship programme, with the satisfaction of seeing the positive social impact that comes from nurturing leadership potential in very bright young people. As the Operations Manager, you’re at the centre of the action, co-ordinating workflows and communicating a programme that supports young people to realise their potential. You will report to a Trustee, work alongside an Operations Executive and international colleagues, and be responsible for a small team.

This is a pivotal role within a small, ambitious team, working closely with clinical leaders and committees to deliver high-quality education for a diverse membership including nurses, consultants, resident doctors, pharmacists, scientists and allied health professionals. 

You will play a key role in shaping and delivering BSH’s educational offer – from webinars and podcasts to in-person events and digital learning resources – as well as leading the development of our new online Knowledge Hub. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Support the BSH Education Committee and deliver its programme of educational activity 

• Plan, coordinate and deliver webinars, podcasts, events and educational resources 

• Lead the development and management of the BSH Knowledge Hub, ensuring content is high-quality, relevant and up to date 

• Track engagement and usage data, including CPD activity 

• Support delivery of education sessions at external events and contribute to BSH events 

• Work collaboratively with other societies and organisations to enhance educational content and signposting 

• Support educational outputs across BSH committees, particularly the Nurse Forum and Research Forum

Internationally, we partner with locally-led programmes that provide practical support including education, humanitarian aid, vocational training and healthcare. The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Fundraising Manager to grow support for our work in the UK and internationally. 

You will lead the implementation of our 2026–2028 fundraising strategy, develop compelling supporter journeys and creating inspiring propositions that connect donors with the difference their generosity makes. Working closely with the CEO, Senior Management Team and Fundraising Committee, you will bring focus, energy and professional fundraising expertise to a charity with a loyal supporter base and significant potential for growth. 

Key Details:

Location:  UK (Flexible: Remote or Hybrid if preferred). There will be a few in-person meetings/events in our London office or other specific venues each year, with flexibility to work where convenient (office or home) most of the time. 

Hours: Part-time, 3 days per week (0.6 FTE). Flexibility over how hours are distributed across the week.

Salary:  £37,000 – £43,000 FTE, pro rata (c. £22,200 - £25,800 for 3 days per week), depending on experience

What You will do:

• Lead the delivery of HOPE worldwide UK’s fundraising strategy, with clear plans, priorities, KPIs and income targets.
• Develop a compelling case for support that inspires existing donors, re-engages lapsed supporters and reaches new and younger audiences.
• Design and deliver segmented supporter journeys across individual giving, regular giving, appeals and stewardship activity.
• Support the growth of sustainable income from high-potential streams including trusts and foundations, major donors, legacy giving, challenge events and corporate engagement.
• Work with programme colleagues to capture impact, develop strong donor reports and translate frontline insight into persuasive fundraising propositions.
• Oversee the effective use of the fundraising CRM, improving data quality, segmentation and insight-led decision making.
• Manage, mentor and encourage the Communications & Fundraising Team, creating clarity, focus and momentum.
• Ensure all fundraising activity is legal, ethical and compliant with the Code of Fundraising Practice, data protection requirements and internal policies.

• Strategy: Experience in building or delivering a successful fundraising strategy and compelling cases for support. 

• Communication: Excellent storytelling skills with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences (faith-based, secular, and younger donors). 

• CRM and Data: Confident user of a fundraising CRM, able to manage data, segment supporters and use insight to inform decisions.
