We are recruiting for a specialist Money & Budgeting Advisor into our Advice Service to provide money, budgeting and debt advice to our members, oversee the application processes for our expanded hardship funds and to run our new financial literacy programme. This role will work alongside another Money & Budgeting Advisor and with our wider Advice & Wellbeing team, supporting each other to achieve positive outcomes for our students. The post holder will provide accurate finance, debt and budgeting advice and information to students using the Advice Service including casework, support and advocacy.

It’s life changing and challenging raising children who’ve been hurt or neglected, but kinship carers do it anyway because they put the children first. 

Kinship have been awarded funding from the Department for Education to deliver the first ever national training programme to support kinship carers in their caring role. We are at the start of that journey.

About the role:

Kinship are seeking to recruit experienced event co-ordinators with a whole range of skills and great energy to join our brand-new training team. They will be responsible for delivering this first ever programme of its type supporting kinship carers across England in their caring role. 

As a pivotal part of the team, you’ll be supporting delivery of high-quality in-person and online training events across England. You’ll be the first point of contact for the team and be experienced and responsive in dealing with enquiries. You’ll be used to working with suppliers and have proven experience of planning, co-ordinating and supporting the delivery of large events. You’ll bring significant working experience of using Microsoft tools, and other platforms and technology including Zoom. You’ll have a positive, can-do approach and the ability to work with initiative, being curious and always thinking ahead to anticipate need and deal with issues.

Collaboration will be key to your approach, and you’ll be detail orientated and be great at managing your time and priorities, and working to consistently high standards. You’ll plan, co-ordinate and support the successful delivery of all our online and in-person events, including being available and involved as needed on site. 

In this role, you’ll travel across England and may have overnight stays from time to time. We offer training and support to enable you to be successful in your role and we’re happy to discuss requirements if you have kinship caring responsibilities.

Key responsibilities include:

Key responsibilities:

Clinical

1. Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service.

2. Conduct assessments and therapy over the telephone, telemedicine and face to face.

3. Offer High Intensity treatment in individual and group settings (as agreed)

4. Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the department’s referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary.

5. Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for people attending the service.

6. Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, conveying formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language.

7. Take responsibility for promoting access to the services provided and the delivery of cognitive behavioural therapies in the peripheral settings where the therapist works. For example, therapists working within GP Surgeries will be expected to attend GP Practice meetings and develop and maintain professional relationships with members of the primary care team. They will be expected to promote the service by ensuring that there are readily available promotional material for both members of the public and members of the primary care team.

8. Liaise with other psychological therapy services in order to work jointly to improve provision of psychological services to local residents.

9. Plan appropriate packages of care for each service user. Liaise as appropriate with other professionals within the service and externally to effectively communicate your assessment and facilitate transfer of care to an appropriate professional.

10. Conduct risk assessments, prepare risk management plans and initiate appropriate action where indicated (including referrals to relevant secondary care services and child and adult safeguarding services)

11. Elicit outcome data from people using services and their carers. Use the TALKING THERAPIES IAPTUS system to record clinical contact details, clinical records, outcome data, and passage though the care pathway.

12. Ensure that people under your care are cared for appropriately under the stepped care framework as currently in use within the service.

13. Adhere to the operations manual and other relevant protocols and procedures as directed by your line manager.

14. Take personal (unprompted) responsibility for achieving agreed clinical activity relating to the number of therapy contact hours per week.

15. Actively contribute to and support the integration of clinical governance in the service within your own area of work and contribute to service clinical governance process in a specific area of work under the direction and supervision of a Senior Therapist.

16. Develop an area of enhanced (specialist) clinical work (e.g. PTSD, OCD, Long Term Health Conditions, Perinatal, Eating Disorders, Social phobia etc). It is expected that the areas of specialist work will shift in focus over time to reflect service need and your need to continuing professional development.

17. Carry out clinical audits of aspects of the CBT service as directed, including feedback from people who have used the service, analyse and feedback to the service verbally and in writing.

Training and Supervision

18. Attend clinical supervision in group or individual format within service.

19. Participate in peer supervision with professional colleagues.

Established in 2013, the United Kingdom and Europe World Literacy Foundation have been dedicated to building strong communities through literacy and education. In 2018, UK Reads was introduced to provide literacy support through distributing books and resources nationwide while delivering author-led workshops to children to inspire the next generation of readers who lacked resources and opportunities to develop and excel. Additionally, UK Reads works to facilitate a global pen pal project, inspiring young writers and offering them a platform to connect, fostering cultural awareness and enhancing writing skills.

About the Project

UK Reads: Literacy Impact East London specifically  focus on children and young people aged 11-18 years. The project is designed to reach young people from diverse, low-income backgrounds and ethnic minorities. We have observed that approximately 85% of our beneficiaries come from low-income families, 10% of our users are students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), reflecting the diverse range of learners we aim to support. Additionally, 45% of our beneficiaries come from Black minority communities, highlighting the importance of promoting inclusivity and addressing potential disparities in literacy outcomes.

We acknowledge that low literacy rates often vary through boroughs and are committed to reaching the most underserved, underrepresented, and marginalised young people across East London. We collaborate with schools and community organisations to implement a tailored intervention that addresses the specific needs of each group, offering a diverse range of services to expedite the development of foundational literacy skills.

Room to Heal is a human rights charity and therapeutic community based in London. We support people who have survived torture and organised violence to rebuild their lives in exile, through an integrated programme of therapeutic and casework assistance. • Supervise standardisation activities and materials for EQAs, both internally and externally.
• Offer recommendations to the Head of Access and Compliance regarding external quality assurance and ongoing improvement efforts.
• Assist the broader organisation in readiness for inspections, audits, and self-assessments.
• Coordinate and ensure EQAs allocation to carry out monitoring in line for CASS strategy.

Requirements:

• Project and line management experience.
• Knowledge of current education legislation.
• Knowledge of awarding body and regulatory structures.
• Experience in external quality assurance processes and report writing.
• Understanding of post-16 education and lifelong learning.
• Excellent organisational skills, diligence and integrity.
• Experience of networking with key stakeholders.

  Additional information:

As a Head of Development, you will:

• Lead and manage a portfolio of programmes within the schools sector

• Apply up-to-date knowledge of the education and schools sector in the UK to develop, deliver and co-ordinate our

  core programmes

• Deliver the growth target to annually reach 1 million children and young people by 2028
• Sit on the Senior Leadership Team working to develop current and new programmes in alignment with the charities strategic plan
• Engage with prospective supporters, stakeholders and boards, driving awareness and understanding of the portfolio of programmes to schools

To be successful as a Head of Development, you will:

• Be strategic in both your approach and nature
• Experience managing a team against targets and objectives 
• A track record of project & budget management

What do we do?

Our core advice services include:

• telephone information, advice and guidance

• regular face to face welfare benefit advice sessions in communities

Overview of the Role

As a Welfare Benefits Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in assisting individuals in making benefit claims and accessing the support they need. You will join a busy team that supports thousands of disabled people and carers across the borough and specifically provide a bespoke home visiting service to our most vulnerable clients.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Benefit Claims Assistance:

   • Provide guidance and support to individuals in understanding their eligibility for various welfare benefits, including Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment, and Attendance Allowance.

   • Assist clients in completing benefit application forms accurately and efficiently.

   • Stay updated on changes to welfare benefit regulations and policies to provide accurate information to clients.

2. Home Visiting Service:

   • Conduct home visits to assess clients' needs and provide personalised support in accessing welfare benefits.

   • Develop tailored action plans in collaboration with clients to maximise their benefit entitlements and improve their financial stability.

3. Client Empowerment and Education:

   • Empower clients through education about their rights and responsibilities within the benefits system.

4. Working within our Team

• Liaise with colleagues in order to provide the best possible advice to all clients

• Attend team meetings

• Undertake appropriate training

• Work with our Communications Lead to share the impact of the service
