About the charity

Living in the North West, we're 25% more likely to be diagnosed with cancer than elsewhere in the UK and many cancers are much more common across the region. The region also suffers from extreme social-deprivation and health inequalities which, when combined, lead to a lower-than-average life-expectancy and poorer quality of life for our communities.

Community fundraising is an important vehicle to challenge this - by raising money and awareness.

This role will cover North Manchester up to Lancashire - you'll be homebased with travel across the patch to meet supporters.

What will I be fundraising for?

Recent fundable projects include a groundbreaking annual Regional Report on cancer and the innovative Lab-Coat Learning education programme for the region's schools.

You'll act as the face of the charity out in the community, spreading the word about how fundraising can drive positive change. You'll develop relationships with volunteer fundraisers, community groups and local businesses, encouraging and motivating them to fundraise.

You'll deliver interactive presentations, activities and outreach sessions at schools and volunteer groups, offering support, advice and guidance on how people can supercharge their fundraising.

• Experience working in a face-to-face role, either fundraising, sales, account or volunteer management.

We are recruiting a Dad Matters Coordinator to help us reach more families in Brent. This is an amazing opportunity for someone with parenting experience to support new dads at a critical time in their parenting journey. The Dad Matters Coordinator will be passionate about supporting fathers to create strong secure bonds with their babies. You will have the compassion and skills to enable dads to have those difficult conversations, and talk about how they’re really feeling.

The Dad Matters Coordinator will deliver a range of universal and targeted interventions aimed at fathers in the First 1001 Days. You will support dads and other male carers with attachment and bonding, mental health and access to service. You will also work with professionals and perinatal services to ensure dads and male carers are engaged, supported and heard within clinical pathways. Heart Research UK is a leading non-profit organisation dedicated to stopping people dying from heart diseases. The Research team advances the treatment, prevention and cure of heart diseases through the medical research projects we fund. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) Community Outreach Coordinator who will be responsible for growing the PPI activities of the charity at the community level.

Be part of an energetic and vibrant team who are driven by the desire to improve the lives of people living with heart disease, until no more deaths from heart diseases. Situated within the charity’s Research Team, you will support the delivery of our research strategy, building trust and confidence in heart research and the wider work of Heart Research UK among patients and their families.

Reporting to the Patient and Public Involvement Officer you will encourage people affected by heart diseases to join our Patient and Public Network, deliver clear messaging and demonstrate the benefits of involvement. You will drive and promote innovative ways of involving and hearing from patients, carers, and the public, challenging traditional methods, particularly ensuring growing involvement from currently underrepresented and underserved groups and communities to enhance our engagement, understanding, and cohesion with people from all backgrounds affected by heart diseases.

About the Role

As a Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for setting up and updating all property and resident accounts on the rental ledger system and for ensuring that rental income in correctly reflected on both the rent and finance systems on a timely basis.

You will work closely with project staff and housing benefit departments regarding rental income queries and ensure that rental income is received in accordance with the charity’s internal financial controls and all legal regulatory requirements are complied with. The role will involve some sales ledger work, under the supervision of the Rental Income Business Partner.

Some Key responsibilities include:

• Rental Ledger and rental collection

• Responsible for reviewing the rental income bank account and accurately reflecting all receipts onto the rental income system

• Identify any overpayments and request the necessary refunds

• Produce and send out monthly rent arrears and voids

• Process monthly rent write-offs

• Reconcile and close monthly accounts

• Raise rental income sales invoices and follow up on late payments

About You

You’ll be a highly organised individual, with excellent interpersonal skills. You will be comfortable working independently and communicating effectively with colleagues across the organisation.

They are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic data insights manager to help us make the most of our existing data across their organisation, alongside developing new innovations to improve understanding of our supporters, their contribution to nature’s recovery and the values that the public place on nature.

They are looking for a skilled data specialist to help us to draw together and take forward their data insights work across their organisation. Working directly to the Director for Climate Change and Evidence, the postholder will lead on and manage our existing large-scale data insights projects, including the Great Big Nature Survey (the largest UK-wide survey of nature values); oversee their analysis of internal data collected across the organisation; and undertake data analysis of their external impact, from brand awareness to their major public engagement programmes such as 30 Days’ Wild. The salary for this role is £42 000

You will start with 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (which increases after 2 years). We also offer a generous pension scheme (7% employer contribution), free health care provision, death in service benefit.

Our Youth and Play Workers will play a pivotal role in the Children, Young People and Families team, working as a core team of practitioners to ensure the smooth running of our programmes and services. In this role you will be part of a small and dynamic team which delivers a wide range of programmes and activities, both from Tulse Hill Adventure Playground and within local schools. The work of the Children, Young People and Families team is diverse and varied. Our current services include open access adventure play and youth activities at our Adventure Playground, school holiday programmes with off-site trips and activities, coaching in local schools, a Young Leaders programme offering paid work experience to young people, and working together with our youth partnerships Building Young Brixton and Lambeth Peer Action Collective.

We are experiencing an exciting time of development for the team and are currently looking to recruit four Youth and Play Workers. To support our range of children and young people, our team will be made up of specialist Youth Workers and Play Workers bringing in relevant skills and experience. Whilst you will work across all of our Children, Young People and Families services you will have a specific focus:

As a Youth Worker you will:
• Focus on supporting our secondary age cohort
• Plan and run appropriate activities
• Provide structured interventions to support vulnerable young people
• Work with referral partners to provide additional support and activities

As a Play Worker you will:
• Focus on our primary age cohort
• Use your knowledge of Playwork Principles to plan and run engaging activities
• Foster relationships with families and local primary schools

Both roles will include an element of mentoring, relevant training will be provided to give you the necessary skills to deliver this.

To be successful in this role, you will act as a trusted practitioner in all our service delivery, advocating for children’s right to play throughout our programmes. You will work as part of the team on the delivery and planning of all sessions, ensuring that the children’s and young people’s ideas are central to the construction of a varied and engaging play environment. You will understand the wide-ranging challenges facing young people and will be flexible in adjusting your practice to meet these needs.

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Administrator to support the smooth running of our Programmes and Operations. This role is essential in ensuring that our logistics, partnerships, and communications run efficiently, allowing us to reach and support more young people. You will work closely with suppliers, referrers, and our internal team to coordinate key aspects of our programmes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Programme & Operations Support

• Support the coordination of OSH’s residentials, events, and programmes, ensuring logistics run smoothly.

• Arrange bookings (e.g. facilitators, venues, catering, transport) to ensure contracts and payments are managed efficiently.

• Assist in staff recruitment and volunteer management with recruitment, interview scheduling, onboarding, inductions, organising meetings and receiving feedback.

• Manage resources in our lock up (based in Hornsey)

Administrative & Organisational Support

• Maintain accurate records, databases, and documentation to ensure compliance and efficiency.

• Handle general inquiries via email and phone, acting as a key point of contact for external stakeholders.

• Support the team with minute-taking in meetings.

Partnerships & Referrals

• Communicate with referrers (such as youth groups, schools, social workers, and community organisations) to ensure young people are referred and engaged in our programmes.

• Support with phoning participants and referrers to support them to complete sign up forms where necessary

• Track and monitor referral processes, ensuring smooth communication and follow-ups with referrers to maximise participation at our events

• Maintain good relationships with external partners such as venues, facilitators, transport companies and other organisations we work with. 

Finance & Compliance Support

• Assist with financial administration, such as processing invoices, logging donations, and tracking expenses.

• Ensure OSH meets data protection and safeguarding requirements, keeping records up to date.

Other duties

• Getting involved in OSH events in the evenings and at weekends, including residentials. These are overnight trips from 2 to 5 nights

• Other duties as may be required from time to time

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

• Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.

• Experience in the charity, youth, or refugee/migrant sector.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Confident in communicating with external partners, suppliers, and stakeholders.

• Proactive, with the ability to take initiative and problem-solve.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining records.

• IT proficient, including experience with email, spreadsheets, and document management.

• Knowledge of financial administration (e.g. processing invoices).

• Understanding of and commitment to data protection principles and maintaining confidentiality. 

• Ability to speak in other languages relevant to our community, including Arabic, Pashto, Farsi, Tigrinya, Amharic, and Oromo.
