About the Role

Programme Coordination

• Manage a portfolio of up to 300 students throughout the year, ensuring sustained engagement with tutoring sessions.

 Creative Problem-Solving and Innovation

Role Purpose:

• Oversee Street Child’s rolling school construction programme in Liberia and Sierra Leone.
• Support in-school, community engagement, and economic empowerment activities.
• Work closely with local partners to manage the construction of 50-100 primary and secondary schools annually.
• Frequent travel to rural communities to monitor projects and gather updates for internal and donor reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Reporting & Programme Funding Engagement – 30%

• Review narrative and financial quarterly reports from country teams and provide feedback.
• Lead the consolidation of narrative reports for various donors.

2. Programme Management – 35%

Job Description

To provide advocacy support to a caseload of clients with complex mental health needs, including support around housing, finances, health, domestic abuse and other issues. CARA’s advocacy service focuses primarily on meeting the needs of some of our most complex clients – victims and survivors who would be unable to access other advocacy services.  The role will also involve supporting the wider CARA team in signposting other clients to external advocacy agencies, as appropriate and attendance at CARA groups to provide a drop-in advocacy surgery.

·To manage a caseload of complex clients seeking short and long-term advocacy support, including support around housing, finances, health, domestic abuse and other issues.

·To manage referrals in to CARA’s Advocacy service, ensuring clients meet the referral criteria.

·To provide line-management for CARA’s social care placement worker and potential future advocacy volunteers.

·To assess all new referrals to CARA’s advocacy services, allocating cases to members of the advocacy team, as appropriate.

·To liaise with other agencies, receiving and making referrals and ensuring that they understand CARA’s role and services.

·To gather information about local and national agencies and manage storage and display of this material at CARA.  To work with CARA’s Integrated Support and Advocacy Manager to create a directory of services that can be used by all the CARA team.

·To support CARA’s group work, including attendance to provide advocacy support and supporting other activities.

·To maintain and collate evaluation data, testimonials or case studies for distribution.

CARA is part of Synergy East and we work closely with SERICC Rape and Sexual Abuse Specialist Service and Southend-on-Sea Rape Crisis (SOS Rape Crisis) to deliver the contract for the Office for the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex for services for victims and survivors of sexual violence and child sexual abuse across Essex.

We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a LifeSupply Facilitator to join our passionate LifeSupply Team at Causeway. As LifeSupply Facilitator, you will play a vital role in distributing material assistance to service users at Causeway. 

You will assist the LifeSupply Coordinator in organising and fulfilling donations of useful items such as bedding, sim cards and clothing to our service users; whilst also assisting on the smooth fulfilment of the Glasspool grant. This includes ensuring trackers are organised, up to date and meet the requirements necessary, whilst liaising with advocates about their applications. 

A key part of the role will be working from the storage unit in Hillsborough, Sheffield, photographing and valuing incoming donations of stock, along with LifeSupply volunteers, to keep the LifeSupply platform up to date with donations for the service users to choose from. The role will be split 50% in the storage unit, physically packing orders, photographing donations and organising the space, and 50% laptop-based work, completing Glasspool applications, valuing donations and maintaining trackers, which can be conducted at home or in the office. 

You will contribute on improving service user’s access to material assistance during their time at Causeway. Your work will help ensure that every service user has access to items which will improve their quality of life, such as clothing and homeware, and bridge the poverty gap that they often face.

Responsibilities:

Storage Unit Based 

Facilitating donations of items from the moment the donation is offered to Causeway to the donation being distributed to a service user which includes: 

• arranging delivery or collection of the items, 
• counting and tracking the items, photographing the items,
• valuing the items, 
• adding them to the LifeSupply platform, 
• distributing them to a service user. 

Ensure that Health and Safety and GDPR procedures are followed whilst working in the storage unit and distributing the donations to service users

The Community Engagement Officer is an essential role in fostering strong relationships with current and prospective members of the School Library Association community. The postholder will provide frontline support, drive online and in person engagement through outreach initiatives, and contribute to the growth and sustainability of the membership base. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about school libraries, education, and community-building.

With a particular focus on coordinating and supporting our Branch network, you will collaborate on initiatives for development, delivery and new projects as they come online. You will be the first port of call for advice and expertise relating to school libraries and enabling our members to more effectively support their school communities. Supporting the delivery of online and in-person networking events and workshops for members, you will work with your SLA colleagues, in particular the Training and Events Officer, to deliver a high-quality member offer and to ensure member needs are reflected in all offerings. The ability to travel to training and events across the UK is essential. Duties include:

Branch network and member support

• Work with the CEO to develop the SLA Branch Network and accompanying strategies
• Identify opportunities for developing initiatives to grow and develop the Branch network community, that will deliver on the SLA mission
• Develop strong relationships with local, regional and national stakeholders to support network growth and enable members to take full advantage of all relevant opportunities available to them
• Provide advice for SLA members on all aspects of school libraries, ensuring they are supported and can be as effective as possible in their school communities

 Training and events

• Work with the Training and Events Coordinator to support and deliver a calendar of exciting, engaging and informative events

Outreach and communications

• Supporting management of the SLA resource library, working with colleagues to ensure alignment

Building relationships and an ability to foster collaboration and community engagement will be an important part of this role. All team members contribute to office admin, maintaining member data and general office support.

To be successful in this role you should ideally be able to demonstrate:

· experience of working in school libraries, the education sector and a strong understanding of the education landscape

· clear understanding of the curriculum and teaching and learning outcomes

· knowledge of children and young people’s literature

· experience developing and delivering inspirational training, to small and large groups, both online and in person
