We are seeking passionate individuals who can support our ongoing work promoting the social inclusion of Latin American refugees and migrants in the UK, particularly in London. We are especially interested in people with experience in the following areas:

About the roles
As the Trust moves into its next phase with the launch of the Astrea 2030 strategy, we are looking to recruit up to four Trustees to strengthen, diversify, and advance the actions of the Board.
The new strategy marks the beginning of the third phase in Astrea’s journey, and it is a phase founded on community. Everyone in the Astrea community – professionals, students, parents, governors, local residents, civic and business leaders and others – has a role to play in making our schools the best places anywhere for children to gain the advantage of a brilliant education.

Ready to make a difference to a young person's life? Team Up is seeking dynamic volunteers to help transform the lives of disadvantaged pupils by building confidence, resilience and doubling their expected progress in English or maths.
We are looking for inspirational role models who will tutor Maths or English on one of our school programmes across London. You will be matched with a small number of pupils and provide them with the academic support, encouragement and inspiration they need to get back on track. All our volunteer tutors receive full training, lesson resources and support from a qualified teacher/facilitator throughout their placement.
Practical Considerations:
- You can choose a programme that suits your timetable and location.
- Sessions are between 60-90 minutes and will take place on a fixed day of the week, normally at the end of the school day (between 3-5pm).
- Each programme runs across a 12 week period, usually during term time. You will be expected to volunteer for at least one programme (10-12 weeks).
- Team Up provides full lesson plans and teaching resources.
- This role requires you to undergo a free of charge DBS check, which will be arranged by Team Up.
- Travel expenses up to £15 per session are covered.

About the role
The NSCG Corporation is the College’s governing body and currently comprises 16 members. Our board members provide representation from local businesses, local councils and community groups as well from our staff team and our student body.
Through their role on our Corporation Board, our members represent the particular interests of the local community and public interest in general. They oversee the way the College is run, ensuring it meets the needs of the local community, school leavers and employers.
It ensures the highest professional and ethical standards as well as the effective use of resources. Governors are responsible for the financial solvency of the institution, the proper use of public funds, sound management and the quality of education, training and business service provided. Perhaps even more importantly, our Governors set the tone of our organisation, shape our culture and help define the values through which we work.

Education & Standards Committee
We also seek applications from strategic leaders from across the wider education sector. This experience could come from those working within the higher education sector, in local secondary schools, multi-academy trusts, independent training providers, specialist SEND providers, or the further education sector itself.
We will also welcome applications from candidates who are based within large employers but who have an understanding and appreciation of the impacts that our provision has on their workforce. We believe such candidates will offer valuable insights into the future development of our curriculum.
Successful candidates with this particular experience will be appointed to our full Board as well as our Education & Standards Committee, which currently has eight other members.
Finance & General Purposes Committee
Finally, we also seek to appoint a new member to our board who is an experienced, senior and strategically focused, qualified, finance professional. Whilst candidates may have professional expertise as a senior financial leader, they may also have additional experience of working in more board operational roles which encompass responsibilities linked to estates and resource functions.
The successful candidate will be appointed to our full Board as well as our Finance & General Purposes Committee, on which there are currently six other members.
Expectations and commitment
Successful candidates will be appointed on the basis of a four-year term of office.
Whilst previous governance experience is not essential, candidates will need to be able demonstrate an understanding of the principles of good governance and how these should be implemented to discharge fiduciary responsibilities in the context of a non-executive board.
You will be able to apply your specialist knowledge and expertise to contribute to strategic discussions and decision-making by working constructively as part of a non-executive team whilst demonstrating an understanding that Governors must act fairly and impartially, with a commitment to the principles of safeguarding, equality and diversity.
The appointed candidates will be expected to attend five meetings of the Board each year, and the frequency of our Committee meetings varies as below:
- Education & Standards Committee: four meetings per year
- Audit Committee: three meetings per year
- Finance & General Purposes Committee: three meetings per year
We try to always ensure that meetings are held in person as this allows governors to experience the vibrant College atmosphere whilst on site.
Governors usually dedicate an average of around 10 hours per month to their role, which includes meeting preparation, attendance and follow-up. However, we are privileged that our Governors also dedicate additional time to the College. They each spend time each term, visiting our sites, engaging with our staff and students, and use this as a chance to see our impacts first-hand. We hope to receive applications from individuals who would be open to offering a similar level of commitment to our organisation.

About the role
We seek to appoint a Chair of the Trust Board who can provide strategic leadership to the Girls’ Learning Trust during a period of development and change.

You will lead the governance of the Trust, working closely with the Chief Executive and fellow Trustees to oversee our strategic direction, performance, safeguarding and compliance. Inclusive Boards is delighted to be supporting St Hilda’s College Oxford in their search for an inaugural independent Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee.
St Hilda’s College was founded by Dorothea Beale in 1893 as a Hall for Women Students. The College received its first Royal Charter in 1926 when it was incorporated under the title “Principal and Council of St Hilda’s College, Oxford”. In 1960, it became a College of the University, and since 2008 has welcomed the admission of male students.
The College is seeking to recruit an independent Chair for the newly-established Audit and Risk Committee to assist the Governing Body in fulfilling its governance and oversight responsibilities by monitoring and reviewing the following aspects of its work:
- Integrity of financial statements.
- Mechanisms through which the College ensures its financial sustainability and value for money.
- Effectiveness of risk management policies, processes and oversight.
- Effectiveness of internal controls.
- Mechanisms through which the College ensures ongoing compliance of the College with the conditions and principles of the Charity Commission, Office for Students and other legislation under which the College operates.
- Consideration and approval of plans for external and, where appropriate, internal audits.
- Effectiveness of arrangements for corporate governance and making recommendations about these to the Governing Body.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the audit and risk function at St Hilda’s College. The person specification for this opportunity is as follows.
Essential:
- A good knowledge and experience of working in a senior finance role.
- Experience and an excellent understanding of audit and risk.
- Experience as a Trustee and a good understanding of the role and operation of an Audit and Risk Committee.
- Board level leadership experience with the ability to provide constructive advice and challenge in a manner which inspires confidence and enables a culture of continuous improvement.
- The ability to think strategically, analyse information and debate complex issues.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team, to motivate and empower others to achieve desired outcomes.
- A commitment to the tenets of diversity, equality and inclusion.
- A commitment to the Nolan Principles.
Desirable:
- A good understanding of charity finance and accounting.

The Chair of our Trust Board of Directors helps shape and guide our passionate volunteers and staff team through clear leadership to the trust’s Board of Directors, embedding the trust's values and culture throughout the organisation.
In addition to the general role of all Non-Executive Directors/Trustees, the role of the Chair is:
1. Strategic leadership: To ensure the board and the CEO have an effective shared purpose, vision, values and strategic priorities.
2. Leading the governance team: To ensure the board has the right people with the right skills, attributes, motivations and behaviours to work effectively as a team and hold annual 1:1 conversations with non-executive directors and Local Governing Committee Chairs.
3. Working with leaders: To ensure professional relationships with the CEO and the Chairs of the schools’ Local Governing Committees. To lead the Chairs and Vice Chairs Forum.
4. Influencing improvement and outcomes: To ensure the Board is focused on the trust’s strategic priorities and the ongoing improvement of all of its schools and outcomes for pupils.
5. Leading governance business: To work with the CEO and the Clerk to the Directors to ensure the business of the Board and its Committees is planned, managed and actioned effectively.
6. To review the trust’s management accounts on a monthly basis, taking any appropriate action to maintain financial viability.
