The Fundraising Officer at the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT) supports a wide range of the charity’s activities, including but not limited to, helping to develop and grow income from individual donors with a focus on developing strong relationships with donors and families; as well as assisting with CHECT’s overall admin and operations.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping families affected by retinoblastoma and shares our values to increase awareness through communications and appeals, expanding our social media and website content and supporting our exciting fundraising efforts.

You will have a high level of autonomy and will be given the opportunity to develop new ideas in a role that is varied and flexible. 

Key Objectives of the role:

• To assist the Fundraising Manager on the organisation of events primarily mass participation events
• To assist the Fundraising Manager in providing excellent stewardship to all of CHECT’s supporters
• Management of the fundraising inbox, social media and regular email and telephone communications
• To provide admin and communication support to the wider CHECT team, monitoring the info@inbox and collecting and sending office post

Your challenge? To do everything you can to help the individuals we work with to source appropriate work experience placements and paid roles with local organisations/employers. Day to day, you’ll offer support, careers advice and guidance, helping people to set their own recovery and employment focused goals and provide training in personal and skills development such as CV preparation, interview techniques etc. You’ll also be responsible for establishing and maintaining positive links with community mental health teams (CMHRS), Early Intervention Into Psychosis (EIIP) Teams, partner organisations, local employers and other relevant agencies and have the initiative to develop and promote the service. Additionally, you will have responsibility for maintaining efficient admin systems to ensure referrals, assessments and reviews are completed in a timely manner.

Richmond Fellowship is part of Recovery Focus, a national group of charities highly experienced in providing specialist support services to individuals and families living with the effects of mental ill health, drug and alcohol use, gambling and domestic violence. The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. We are also very proud of our UR4Driving programme, which supports people recently out of prison with free driving lessons in exchange for community volunteering. Gaining a driving licence greatly enhances their future employability prospects and helps break the cycle of re-offending. The role

This newly scoped role reports into the CEO and is critical to our ability to create the income we need to keep up with the ever-increasing demand on our services. Primarily, the role has two fundamental elements to it: firstly, working with both a specialist external consultant and the CEO in planning, submitting and reporting on the grants that make up a large proportion of our income; and secondly, the planning and managing of TUR’s traditional (and always fun) annual events. These include celebrity interviews and talks, garden parties and various community events such as the Green Days festival in Chiswick. First Give inspires young people to make a difference to the causes they care about. We do this through working in partnership with secondary schools, providing a fully resourced scheme of work that guides an entire year group of students to engage with local charities and causes and then carry out social action (fundraising, raising awareness, campaigning, volunteering etc) in support of them.

Programme Delivery Officer role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic candidate to join our Programmes Team as a Programme Delivery Officer. PDOs will be responsible for supporting and coordinating the delivery of the First Give programme in up 50 schools, ensuring smooth running of the programme, plus providing guidance and troubleshooting for the lead teachers at First Give partner schools.

The role will be hybrid, with 3 days a week in our main offices in West Hampstead, London. Regular travel to schools across London and the South East will be required.

Key responsibilities

The Humane Slaughter Association is a unique charity which promotes the welfare of farmed animals ‘Beyond the Farm Gate’; at markets, during transport, at slaughter, and when animals must be killed in emergencies.

Our vision is of a world where all farmed animals are transported and killed humanely and our mission is to research, advance and promote the use of humane methods for the transport, slaughter and killing of farmed animals.

We do this by offering practical advice, education, ad training to all those involved in transport, slaughter, or emergency killing of livestock animals, as well as by funding scientific research to develop more humane approaches. Although we are based in the UK, the charity is international and works worldwide.

Technical Officer – welfare assessment

The postholder for this role will become a key part of the HSA welfare assessment and training team. The team regularly undertakes welfare assessments of abattoirs, livestock markets and transport facilities to provide advice and training to ensure high standards of animal welfare. We also provide in-person training in humane slaughter and transport to those working in the industry, as well as regulators, other NGOs, staff from farm assurance schemes and others involved in the industry. Participating in agricultural shows and industry events, sharing our knowledge and advocating for humane slaughter and transport with key stakeholders are also central to our activities. HSA conferences are also an important way in which we disseminate the latest animal welfare information.

The postholder will work with the small expert team at the HSA, using their expertise to deliver welfare assessments and training, provide expert advice and organise our external activities.

Key Skills, Qualifications and Attributes

Essential

· A degree in agriculture, life science, veterinary medicine (or a related field) or equivalent professional experience.

· An understanding of the basic principles of animal welfare at slaughter.

· Comfortable working with and producing material which describes the slaughter process in detail.

· Comfortable working in abattoirs and livestock facilities.

· A diplomatic approach to dealing with controversial issues in animal welfare.

· Willingness to obtain a slaughter licence.

Personal Attributes

The candidate must be comfortable with the charity’s approach to animal welfare which includes co-operation with the livestock and slaughter industries. Whilst the HSA wishes to ensure the highest standards of welfare for animals farmed for food or other products, it does not oppose the slaughter of animals per se. Candidates must be comfortable working within the livestock industry and other key stakeholders whilst striving to ensure the humane treatment of animals undergoing transport or slaughter.

Job Benefits

Payscale: £30,493 – 41,737 (depending on experience and qualifications) Plus London weighting, where applicable.

Contract Type: Permanent/full-time, subject to a satisfactory probationary period. Part-time and flexible working arrangements may be possible.

Location: Office-based or remote (within the UK) according to the wishes of the applicant. The HSA offices are currently based in Hertfordshire, UK.  The postholder will need to travel to meetings around the UK and occasionally overseas.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Role:The Senior Development Officer ​plays an integral role within the Development Team at Forces Employment Charity (FEC). You will work with the Head of Development to produce high quality, bespoke proposals, and reports to demonstrate impact and outcomes to help drive the delivery of FEC across the UK. You will also work within the team to research and identify new fundraising opportunities from trusts, foundations and companies and convert these into long term business relationships.

This position provides a full-time, permanent contract with hybrid working hours, consisting of a 35-hour week. The role allows for hybrid work, including remote work from home, with one day per month at our head office in London.

Principle Responsibilities:
​

• To work closely with the Head of Development to research and identify new opportunities.
• Develop, prepare, and submit high quality funding applications, acting as bid writing SME.
• Peer Review support to mentor other team members.
• Work with Head of Development to increase the accuracy of our Salesforce data, resulting in data dashboards suitable to the reporting needs of our funders.
• Collaborate with Development and Senior F&R Officer to implement a team strategy and support a lean process of reporting.
• Work with Senior Finance & Reporting Officer to report impact to our funders in line in the funding requirements.
• To work closely with Head of Development to develop and implement our fundraising strategy.
