We're a hybrid working employer, meaning you're required to come into the office at least 2 days per week currently Tuesday, and Wednesday or Thursday.

World Cancer Research Fund International is a leading authority on cancer prevention research related to diet, weight and physical activity. World Cancer Research Fund International is a not-for-profit organisation that commissions and interprets research, leads and unifies a network of cancer charities with a global reach, influences policy at the highest level, and are trusted advisors to governments and other official bodies from around the world.

We are looking to recruit a Senior Policy and Public Affairs Manager (Senior PPA Manager) to develop and promote policy positions on nutrition and physical activity based on research and evidence, as well as providing information on expansion into possible new policy areas. The role will develop evidence-informed outputs and lead policy position development and analysis activities of the PPA Department in key focus areas such as alcohol and national cancer planning. This will include evidence reviews requiring a high level of technical competence in understanding the effects and effectiveness of policy actions.

The role will work in partnership with key stakeholders and seek to harness influencing opportunities at global, regional and national level, including building WCRFI’s engagement with WHO (through the management of our official relations status) and EU Member States, managing an external group of advisors – our Policy Advisory Group - and ensuring evidence from WCRFI’s CUP Global programme is translated into clear, actionable policy recommendations.

Required skills and experience include knowledge of WHO systems, structures and processes; reviewing, assessing and/or evaluating the impacts of public health actions; writing for an external audience (such as reports, policy briefs, newsletter articles, or academic papers); project management and/or planning projects, managing external stakeholders, including members of the research community and civil society organisations; and reviewing, assessing and/or evaluating the impacts of public health actions. Experience of identifying and promoting influencing opportunities at international, regional and national level is also required.

Candidates should have a master’s degree in public health, health policy (e.g. policies on cancer, non-communicable diseases, food, obesity, physical activity and/or alcohol) or human nutrition (alternative relevant subjects will also be considered).
