About the Role
The DevOps Engineer will play a key role in developing, maintaining, and optimising scalable, cloud-native environments that support Victim Support's critical technology services, including the containerised WitnessBox application.
In this hands-on role, you will work with AWS and Kubernetes to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure. You will be responsible for building and enhancing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, developing Infrastructure as Code, and improving automation across build and deployment processes.
You will support high availability services that people rely on every day, ensuring systems are resilient, compliant, and aligned with security best practices. Working closely with development, product, service delivery, and security teams, you will help deliver integrated, high-quality solutions and drive continuous improvement across the technology landscape.
About You
You will bring solid experience working with AWS and a strong background in building and optimising CI/CD pipelines. You'll have a good understanding of cloud security principles and a proactive approach to improving reliability, automation, and scalability.
Experience with Kubernetes and containerised applications is important, alongside familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools is also desirable.
You will be a strong problem solver with excellent attention to detail and the ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders. A collaborative mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement will be key to success in this role.

About the role
As a second line IT support engineer, you’ll be the go-to contact for IT queries and incidents, supporting staff across the UK. You’ll deliver exceptional customer service while resolving issues across technologies like Microsoft 365, windows, macOS, active directory, Azure, mobile platforms, and video conferencing tools.
You’ll manage, triage and escalate service tickets, manage with onboarding and offboarding staff, provide remote and in-person support, and maintain up-to-date documentation and asset records. You'll also have the opportunity to support our key events, liaise with third-party suppliers, and contribute to improving our internal IT processes.
This is a hands-on and varied role ideal for someone with foundational IT experience who thrives in a dynamic environment and is looking to deepen their technical expertise while delivering high-quality customer service.
About you
You’ll have demonstrable skills and experience working in an IT Support role at first or second line. As a key member of our IT team, you’ll be an active team player with the ability to engage with the people who use our IT systems. You’ll have sound problem-solving skills and be thorough in your approach with an excellent eye for detail.
Highly organised, you’ll be able to manage your time and priorities well and be capable of leading on small and medium project and playing a significant role in larger ones. You’ll have a proactive approach to continual improvement.
You’ll be able to troubleshoot a range of technical issues in a logical and professional way, resolving incidents and problems efficiently while providing high-quality user support.
You’ll have a working knowledge of supporting Microsoft 365 applications, windows and mac operating systems, Microsoft 365 Admin, Azure, active directory, and remote support tools.
Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will help you explain technical concepts to non-technical users and deliver clear, professional written communication in tickets, guides, and user documentation.
You’ll thrive working both independently and collaboratively, with a willingness to travel to other offices or events occasionally and to adapt to changing priorities.

Location, hybrid working and salary range
This role is primarily based in our London office. Our hybrid working model allows you to work up to 3 days per week at home.
The salary range is:
£31,700 to £33,000 per annum London based

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Data Engineer to join our TED team and play an important role in building and maintaining the technical infrastructure that supports the NIoT and TED.
The National Institute of Teaching (NIoT) has an unswerving commitment to high-quality, evidence-informed teacher education, and is on a mission to improve teacher and leader development across the education system.
A key part of that mission is our Teacher Education Dataset (TED), an ambitious data and research initiative focused on building better evidence about teacher development and what makes teaching impactful. By bringing together education, research and digital infrastructure, TED will support new insight into how teachers develop, improve and thrive across their careers.
About the role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Data Engineer to join our TED team and play an important role in building and maintaining the technical infrastructure that supports the NIoT and TED. Working at the intersection of data engineering, data and research, the postholder will help develop secure, reliable and scalable systems that enable robust analysis and contribute to high-quality, evidence-informed improvement across the sector.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build and maintain Azure-based data pipelines to support the ingestion, transformation and curation of TED datasets.

Develop and maintain Azure SQL databases and research-facing schemas across raw, transformed and curated data layers.

Write efficient, secure and well-structured T-SQL to support ingestion, validation, transformation and optimisation.

Contribute to the development and ongoing refinement of a Common Data Model across multiple education data providers.
-
Integrate and harmonise data from school MIS and EdTech platforms, including Bromcom, Arbor and Wonde.
-
Build and maintain robust validation, logging, auditing and reconciliation processes to improve data quality and trust.
-
Support secure data handling, including pseudonymisation, access control and compliance with data-sharing agreements and security requirements.

Work closely with analysts, researchers, architects and partners to deliver scalable, analytics-ready data solutions.

Contribute to agile planning, technical design, documentation and operational handover.
Essential criteria

Proven experience in data engineering, including building and maintaining production-grade data pipelines.

Strong experience with Azure Data Factory and Azure SQL Server.

Strong T-SQL skills, including schema design, stored procedures and query optimisation.

Experience implementing validation, monitoring, logging and reconciliation controls within data pipelines.

Strong understanding of secure data architecture and the handling of sensitive personal data.

Experience with Azure DevOps, version control and CI/CD practices.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.

Ability to communicate effectively and work successfully in a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable criteria
