The Head of Project Development is a new and pivotal role within the organisation that will bridge the gap between our fundraising efforts and the development and implementation of projects. This strategic position is focused on developing new projects based on clear evidence of need and alignment with PCR’s mission and priorities, as well as enhancing the case for existing projects. The role will work in collaboration with the delivery and partnerships team to develop cases for support and secure substantial funding to ensure we can continue to expand and deliver impactful, sustainable projects. The successful candidate will be instrumental in expanding our operational capacity, initiating innovative projects, and contributing significantly to our growth targets for impact and the associated income to achieve this. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Project Development and Management: Spearhead the development of new projects and work alongside fundraising to develop bids to support existing initiatives, ensuring alignment with PCR’s strategic goals and funding opportunities. 

• Fundraising Support: Collaborate closely with the fundraising team to identify and secure funding from large statutory sources, including but not limited to the likes of the National Lottery Community Fund, NHS, NIHR, and Sports England. 

• Evidence Gathering: Develop a robust evidence base and demonstrate PCR’s capability through in-house or commissioned pilot work. 

• Strategic Planning: Contribute to strategic planning processes, identifying key obstacles to project development, and developing strategies to overcome them. 

• Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure future project alignment with community needs and stakeholder expectations.

• Proven experience in project development and management, preferably within the healthcare, research, or non-profit sectors.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced operations manager to join our team. We are looking for someone who will help strengthen the foundations of our organisation, as well as help us expand our growing network of partner organisations across the UK.

• You will be trained as a Big Green Heart facilitator with an expectation that you may be needed to facilitate a workshop during your time at the organisation.

• You will participate in professional and networking events related to Big Green Heart’s field of intervention.

• You will support staff members, trustees and volunteers, providing guidance and training in the operations of the charity as needed.

FUNDRAISING MANAGER (INTERIM)

We have an exciting opportunity to join the thriving and dynamic SARSAS team as our Fundraising Manager.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to help SARSAS realise it’s vision of a world without sexual violence, through our ambitious strategy to extend our preventive programmes and maintain our essential high-quality services. Through developing and expanding income generated through trust and grants, corporate giving and individual giving, you will help us to be part of the systems change to end gender-based violence.

You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and team leads to understand funding priorities, identify potential funders and donors and develop compelling funding bids, proposals and appeals. This will include collaboration to develop partnership proposals.

You will undertake new prospect research and develop and nurture excellent donor relationships. You will seek opportunities to strengthen and build on existing and lapsed funding relationships and be proactive about identifying further development opportunities.

In order to realise our ambitions, we need to extend our programme of fundraising growth, so we can increase our annual income from circa £3 million to in excess of £3.5 million.

About you

Through this new organisational role, you’ll proactively create and grow fundraising income opportunities with individuals, corporate partners and grant giving trusts and foundations. You'll bring our cause to life and building lasting funder and donor relationships, leading the drive for new donor engagement and securing sustainable, multi-year funding.

Through your fundraising expertise, you will have a proven track record of building relationships with corporate partners, individuals and other donors to achieve and exceed annual income targets and KPI’s. You’ll have ability support and mentor your team and the capacity yourself to create and craft compelling bids, proposals and appeals that successfully engage and attract donations from new and existing supporters.

You will be an exemplary relationship builder and have experience in developing multi-faceted partnerships (ideally with experience and success in employee engagement, corporate sponsorship, and/or operational partnerships).

We are a small team and so you will be comfortable rolling up your sleeves to help out team members and to support new business across other income streams.

SARSAS exists to relieve the trauma and distress, and help rebuild the lives, of survivors who live in Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and BANES, who have experienced any form of sexual violence, at any point in their lives.

Key responsibilities

Fundraising delivery and development

• Develop, monitor and manage a fundraising portfolio capable of generating in excess of £500k per annum, establishing a fundraising pipeline and a range of KPI’s that can be tracked and will enable you to make informed projections regarding future income.
• Set up and manage clear planning processes to prepare funding applications, providing clear guidance to colleagues and external partners, which supports effective collaboration, and ensures the submission of high-quality bids, on time.
• Work with and support external consultants and colleagues to help secure fundraising partnerships and income from grant giving trusts and foundations.
•  Write high quality, well-written persuasive and compelling funding applications to secure grant funding.
•  Support the Corporate Partnerships Lead to develop authentic, compelling, creative and winning funding and partnership proposals that can successfully engage corporate partners and align with their needs, motivations, areas of interests and values.
• Develop the SARSAS Individual Giving Strategy and support the FunComms Administrator and wider Comms team to design and deliver excellent, engaging and regular communications and powerful fundraising appeals alongside establishing the associated data and systems to grow our income and pool of individual supporters making one off or monthly donations.
•  Keep up-to-date and accurate records of fundraising activities and provide quarterly updates to the senior leadership team.

Relationship management and stewardship

•  With colleagues, undertake market research and funding insight to identify new prospects and grow our income and pool of supporters.
•  Identify and broker relationships with key funders capable of funding against our fundraising priorities, providing high-quality relationship management, using appropriate communication tools and channels to maintain relationships with key individuals and organisations.
•  Design and implement generic and bespoke stewardship plans for our current network of donors, working closely with the Communications Team on the development of mailings, reports, and events as necessary.
•  Provide advice and support, as necessary, for staff who serve as primary contacts for funders/donors, to ensure that relationships are maintained to a high standard.
•  Build strong relationships across SARSAS and work with teams in an integrative way to achieve organisational ambitions.

Planning, monitoring and evaluation

•  Working closely with the SLT and relevant managers, develop a funding pipeline, which aligns across all programmes, and collaborate on quarterly update reports for the Board of Trustees and the Finance, Risk & HR Sub-Committee.
• Support SLT/ team leads to define fundraising priorities, ensuring that resources are deployed in a timely, and proportionate manner.
•  Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to evidence the impact of fundraising activities, including raised income, donor acquisition, donor retention, return on investment, donor engagement metrics, and our fundraising growth rate.
•  Oversee full implementation of Donorfy system for fundraising
•  Provide high-quality monitoring and evaluation reports.

Staff management

•  Provide leadership for your team, inspiring and motivating staff, freelancers and volunteers, setting KPIs, reviewing and improving performance, ensuring fundraising meets/exceeds targets.
• Provide and/or oversee line management of team members, ensuring that professional standards are maintained, and staff wellbeing is supported.
•  Ensure that all work adheres to all policies including Safeguarding and Data Protection guidelines.
•  Work alongside the HR Officer, to co-ordinate the recruitment of training staff.

About Bite Back 2030 

We’re surrounded by junk food. From the moment we're born, every second of every day, children are being targeted. Giant companies manipulate them with colourful, cuddly, clever marketing, deceive them with packaging claims and pump products at them that are full of junk. It's become the cultural wallpaper. Now, it risks endangering the health of a generation.

In the UK, nearly a third of children aged 2-15 face a higher risk of food-related ill health in their futures. The good news is, it's preventable. And we're biting back.

Bite Back is a youth activist movement challenging a food system that's been set up to fool us all by:

1) Calling out the manipulation of the junk food giants.

2) Demanding higher standards from food marketing and from everyday food itself.

3) Mobilising and equipping young people in the fight for better food.

We do all this so we can bite back against a global epidemic of food-related ill health.

About Bite Back in Schools 

Bite Back has delivered our youth social action programme — Bite Back in Schools— to over 120 schools over the last two years. Working with secondary schools, we have supported over 2,000 11-14 year olds to plan and deliver social action projects to prioritise child health by improving their school food. This could be by making nutritious and sustainable food the norm by increasing the flow of healthy options in their canteens, or by redesigning the school food experience to put healthy options in the spotlight.

With funding awarded from the #iWill Fund, we are recruiting a brilliant cohort of schools who will join the programme in September 2024. Our programme model combines an assembly delivered by a Bite Back young ambassador, five hours of curriculum time sessions for a whole year group, and our ever-popular and impactful School Food Champions (SFC) extra-curricular club. Role Description

The Programmes Manager plays a key role supporting our community of schools during their time on the programme. They will support the design and lead on the delivery of Bite Back in Schools to ensure the best possible user experience for young people, their teachers and their schools, and to ensure the programme makes the greatest possible impact.

The Programmes Manager  will report to the Head of Programmes, and will work closely with colleagues across Bite Back, in particular with our comms, digital, youth and policy teams, working within our Strategy and Delivery Function. 

Key responsibilities include:

Relationship management

• Provide ongoing support to schools throughout their time on the programme, building strong working relationships with participating schools. 

• Lead communication with all schools, being the first point of contact for the coordinator and lead teacher in each school.

• Support monitoring and evaluation through creation of surveys, ensuring completion of baseline and end of year surveys, and analysis of data submitted (in partnership with our external evaluators).

• Book and arrange assemblies, coordinating between schools and our Bite Back Ambassadors.

Community management 

• Celebrate and share examples of best practice and impactful social action projects amongst our community of schools.

• Design and deliver training and webinars for schools.

• Lead on the design and delivery of competitions for schools.

• Schedule and organise visits to schools, agreeing agendas with the schools in advance to include elements including meeting pupils and teachers, leading feedback sessions and focus groups and supporting the development of their social action campaigns.

• Drafting of termly newsletters and regular emails to schools.

• Create case studies and collate material to share with our comms and digital teams.

• Encourage teachers and pupils to use the new Bite Back digital platform to share their stories and projects, and take part in broader Bite Back campaigns.

• Grow our movement - supporting the recruitment of future cohorts by promoting the Bite Back in Schools programme, distributing recruitment comms, holding set up calls with interested schools, and guiding schools through the application and enrolment process, working closely with the Head of Programmes on the design of these processes.

Project management of systems and operational support

• Manage the SFC inbox, dealing with enquiries from schools and other partners.

• Process invoices related to the programme, liaising between schools and the Bite Back accounts team, and monitoring the monthly total payments made to schools.

• Manage the budget for specific areas of programme expenditure, such as merchandise and Ambassador training. 

• Creating and uploading new high quality session plans, resources and materials to our digital  platform as required.

• Design and maintain reporting systems to monitor levels of engagement of individual schools, flagging concerns and proactively finding ways to mitigate issues to ensure schools remain on the programme.

• Management of programmes section of Bite Back CRM system, keeping data up to date and accurate, and developing reports to share programme data with team and funders.

Programme design and improvement

• Identifying opportunities to optimise the potential of our programmes and proactively making suggestions for continuous improvement to our user experience, programme design and systems. 

• Proactively seek feedback on customer satisfaction, impact and service improvement and use this to inform suggestions for improvements.

• Feed your ideas into programme delivery and development.

• Support new pilots and interventions, including testing innovative ideas on the ground, as requested to enable Bite Back to develop our suite of programmes and maximise opportunities for new work to further our mission across the school sector.

Skills / Experience (required)

You will work with us to plan, design and deliver projects with cross-sector stakeholders, as well as developing reports and other ways to share our findings with members and the wider sector. We need someone who has solid research skills, is a natural collaborator, and can collate and present research in different ways to help us achieve the change that’s needed for Londoners.

This role is crucial in ensuring that we deliver on our ambition to drive a learning culture, where shared data, intelligence and insight leads to better decision-making. This role is initially fixed term for one year, and may be subject to renewal. Who are we looking for?

Our ideal candidate would be someone who has experience of running multiple research projects at once with strong project management skills, and direct experience designing and leading both qualitative and quantitative projects. You’ll also need to be able to work with different stakeholders to both co-design research approaches as well as facilitate their engagement in helping us learn from and make sense of the findings.  As such you will need a track record of building relationships in a range of contexts and producing and communicating research outputs in a range of different and accessible formats, including presenting to external audiences.

Whilst we are a small team, we share an office with our friends at Trust for London. There is flexibility about the hours for this role, so it would be available on a part-time or full-time basis (with a minimum of 24 hours per week, or 0.75 FTE). The skills, experience, insights and inspiration you will bring to the role are more important to us, so we'll do what we can to accommodate your preferred working pattern.

The salary is £36,400 per year (or pro rata if you choose part-time) and is a fixed term contract for one year, with the possibility of becoming permanent. We currently have an opportunity for an Environmental Compliance Manager within our National Environment & Climate Action Team within the Strategy & Impact Directorate. The S&I directorate analyses current and emerging policy and sets the Trust’s strategy and standards for regional delivery across all the Trust’s activities. The Environment and Climate action team is responsible for delivering the Trust’s strategy and policy on all environment and climate related sustainability issues, including environmental compliance as a minimum and achieving biodiversity net gain.

Reporting to the Head of Environment and Climate action, the Environmental Management and Compliance manager role will be responsible for the Trust’s Environmental Management System and its associated policies, commitments, and standards, linked to the Trusts evolving sustainability and organisational strategies. The role will require establishing good relationships with other teams in the Trust to drive sound environmental practice from our operations and 3rd party activities.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience

Key Accountabilities:

• Responsible for, and day-to-day management of the Trust’s environmental management system
• Deliver a programme of activities and updates to environmental standards, guidance and tools, ensuring that these are delivered on time and within budget. This forms part of a system refresh that will be delivered this financial year.
• Work with internal technical experts and the Trust’s legal team to ensure that the standards meet regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with Trust operational and delivery teams to ensure that standards are deliverable and align with existing and emerging business processes.
• Manage external technical input where requires (e.g. from consultants)
• Assist in the investigation of environmental incidents, near misses and ensure the production and dissemination of key learnings
• Preparation of board and Environmental Advisory Group (EAG) papers and acts as secretariat of EAG meetings
• Producing case studies and other examples of best practice for internal and external audiences
• Developing and delivering environmental training
• Displaying the Trust values and behaviours at all times.
• Ensuring that diversity and inclusion are integrated into all aspects of Trust life and promoting inclusion by challenging behaviour, practices, actions, or decisions that are counter to the objectives of the Trust’s policies and values.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

• IEMA Practitioner qualification or equivalent
• Experience of administering environmental management systems, including a good understanding of ISO14000 family of environmental standards.
• Authoring company standards and guidance
• Broad understanding of key environmental themes and associated legislation (Air Quality, Biodiversity, Water Quality, Waste, Pollution Prevention and Control, Invasive Species)
• Experience of investigating environmental incidents and near misses
• Working knowledge of GIS and using spatial data to support environmental strategies
• Project/ programme management skills
• Developing reporting systems and managing environmental data to report progress
• Developing project business cards

The role will be home-based, with the expectation to attend main regional hubs either at Milton Keynes, Birmingham, or Little Venice (Paddington), for collaborative working. This is a national role, requiring collaboration with teams in all six of the Trust’s regions. There will be an expectation that the successful candidate will be able travel to attend meetings or fieldwork throughout the regional waterway network.

About the role:

As the Sports Manager, you will be responsible for The Sport Project. You will be overseeing the day to day running of the project and management of the team including Sports Coordinators, freelancers, volunteers, and peers. You will be leading on expanding the reach of the project, forming partnerships with like-minded organisation and charities and advocating for the importance of physical activity within the homeless sector.

In your role, you will also manage relationships for grant givers and funders, including being responsible for budgets, reporting and reconciliations. Additionally you will support the team in the wider role out of the project across the homelessness community, at time this may involve helping to deliver a proportion of physical activity and helping to engage wider groups of participants and staff.

The approach taken with clients will be psychologically informed, incorporating an understanding of complex trauma and addiction. The outcomes for your role, include developing positive and sustained relationships with external partners and helping to make physical activity accessible.

About you:

• Experience managing staff or volunteers and freelancers.
• Experience and knowledge of managing projects or partnerships.
• Experience working with people from a variety of backgrounds and in different settings.
• Your toolkit includes practical expertise in group dynamics and co-production, or you have the enthusiasm and aptitude to develop these skills.

About SARSAS

SARSAS exists to relieve the trauma and distress, and help rebuild the lives, of survivors who live in Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and BANES, who have experienced any form of sexual violence, at any point in their lives.

SARSAS also campaigns and raises awareness about rape and sexual violence to change the narrative about sexual violence and enable survivor’s voices to be heard. Partnership work with a range of agencies locally and nationally is a priority to enable social change.

The Role

Building relationships with the fire and rescue services in your area, you’ll become an integral part of the local fire services community. You’ll join a nation-wide team of inspiring and innovative fundraisers, working collaboratively to secure the much-needed income for the Charity. 

Helping to coordinate events, support fundraising initiatives and implement new ideas, you’ll support your people, stations, and offices to raise awareness of the Charity and achieve and exceed income targets, as well as working with local businesses and people to maximise our fundraising potential.
