L&W is growing our research team and looking for a Head of Research to lead innovative, impactful research and evaluation projects across our focus areas of employment and skills.
This role will expand our capacity to win and deliver evaluation and qualitative research, while strengthening our methodological capability. We’re open-minded about what that means—but we want people who can go beyond standard process evaluations and basic qualitative approaches. You might have experience mapping and evaluating complex system-level change, applying realist evaluation methods, or developing co-design and participatory research projects. You will have have applied these while working alongside the practitioners and policymakers who need these insights to make decisions.
You will join a team that is enthusiastic about learning and improving, and a peer group of experienced qualitative and quantitative research leaders who you will work alongside.

Main Purpose
The Head of Research: Evaluation and Qualitative Methods is a new post for L&W – as we seek to deepen our capability and expand our capacity.
The post-holder will direct research projects across all of our areas of work, providing specific leadership and expertise in programme and system-level evaluations, and projects mobilising innovative or advanced qualitative methods (such as system mapping, co-design methods, ethnographic methods, creative methods and/or theory-based/realist evaluation).
They will work with the Head of Research: Employment and Better Work to develop the wider qualitative and evaluative skills of the wider research team.
They will also play a key role in leading and writing responding to tenders and working with colleagues to develop pro-active research proposals that fill key evidence gaps and respond to the interests of our funders. They will be a good relationship manager – who can understand what commissioners are interested in, and shape projects to deliver meaningful insights that solve the problems practitioners and policymakers face across employment and skills.

Job summary
We’re looking for a Marketing Manager to join our team to create, deliver and analyse integrated marketing plans that utilise the full marketing mix to extend the reach and maximize the sales of BookTrust’s traded reading programmes to schools.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for using data and insight to develop and deliver marketing activity to support a wide range of BookTrust campaigns, events and initiatives to meet our ambitious targets. You’ll establish an ongoing evaluation process and utilise sector and customer insight to continually improve our marketing.
Experience of working across multiple campaigns in an agile way and prioritising your workload effectively is essential.
The ideal candidate will have a breadth of marketing skills and experience and a proactive and collaborative approach to working with colleagues across the charity to deliver marketing campaigns and activity to a consistently high standard.
The successful candidate must have at least three years of marketing experience, have previously worked in a B2B, traded and/or commercial marketing role at a similar level including people management experience.

Human Resources Manager (maternity cover)
Salary: £45,000-£50,000 / year
Location: Our offices are in Toynbee Hall, East London, but we welcome applicants from across the UK who do not wish to relocate. You should be willing to travel to our London office for team and project meetings up to six times per year. Project related travel costs will be reimbursed
Hours: Four to five days a week (flexible – minimum 28 hours/ week). The Young Foundation supports a 4.5 day working week and staff work this, wherever possible (pro rata for those working less than a 35-hour week)

The Senior Programme Manager will lead on stakeholder management for the Subject Knowledge for Physics Teaching (SKPT) programme, including senior leaders in multi-academy trusts, programme partners and funders. Job Summary for Evaluation and Evidence Specialist
This role forms a key part of a new Strategy & Insight Team at Bowel Cancer UK, which seeks to build core capabilities to enable us to be as effective as we can be for people affected by bowel cancer. The Evaluation and Evidence Specialist will be an internal leader driving a step-change in the way we understand and articulate our impact, as well as how we use evidence in our work. About the Role
One of Learning with Parents’ objectives over the next five years is to evidence how best to drive inclusive parental engagement. We are looking for an individual with experience in monitoring and evaluation to join our team.
The Evaluation Manager will be responsible for evaluating our programmes to capture the impact we have, inform improvements internally and share insights externally. The role will begin with implementing an existing evaluation plan and develop into leading improvements and innovations in our evaluation strategy. It will involve primary research, such as leading focus groups in schools, as well as analysis of quantitative and qualitative data generated by our platform and surveys of parents and teachers. It will also involve reporting this data and supporting others to do so. The Evaluation Manager will be responsible for maintaining tools and processes around evaluation and ensuring strong internal and external communications of findings.
This is a role which involves extensive collaboration across different internal teams and with external stakeholders such as schools and funders.

Evaluation design and planning

We are excited to be seeking a talented and motivated individual to join Southampton Hospitals Charity as our Grants Manager.
This role will provide the right candidate with a rare opportunity to implement, embed and oversee the delivery of the Charity’s £2.5 million dedicated grant programmes from pre to post award.
Covering four programmes (Patient Care, Research & Development, Clinical Innovation and Staff Education & Improvement), the post holder will be responsible for managing circa £2.5M of expenditure each year, ensuring they deliver impact for patients, staff and donors.

Main responsibilities
Grant Management & Compliance
- Oversee the delivery of the charity’s dedicated grant programmes from pre to post award: Patient Care, Research & Development, Clinical Innovation and Staff Education & Improvement. The post holder will be responsible for circa £2.5M expenditure per annum ensuring they deliver impact for patients, staff and donors (grant values typically range from £2K to <£0.5M).
- Oversee the management of the charity's current grant portfolio; ensuring grants are delivered on time and in accordance with internal processes.
- Ensure compliance with financial obligations (inc. payments, reconciliations and audits) and regulatory obligations (inc. data management, grant award contracts, procurement).

Overview

We’re looking for two Evaluation Managers to commission and oversee robust, cost-effective evaluations of promising projects, manage a portfolio of studies, and contribute to the development of methodological best practice at the heart of the EEF’s work.
As an Evaluation Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in commissioning and managing high-quality, cost-effective evaluations of EEF -funded projects. You’ll oversee a portfolio of studies from design to delivery, working closely with external evaluators and programme teams to ensure rigorous, practical evaluations and clear communication of findings. This is a chance to shape influential research, strengthen the evidence base on what works in education, and contribute to the EEF’s wider strategic work.
You’ll join one of two closely connected teams at the heart of the EEF’s evidence-generation work, offering distinct but complementary opportunities.
One role sits in the Evaluation Team, a large, expert team responsible for commissioning and managing EEF’s major independent evaluations, including large-scale randomised controlled trials and quasi-experimental evaluations, and for supporting external research teams to deliver rigorous, high-quality studies across the portfolio.This will suit someone with a quantitative leaning with a strong understanding of trials and experimental design.
The second role sits in the Programme Development and Scale-up Team, a smaller, highly cross-functional team working at the earlier and later stages of the evidence pipeline. This team leads pilots, early-stage and scale-up evaluations, with a stronger focus on implementation and process evaluation, and on developing and testing innovative evaluation approaches to support effective scale-up.This will suit someone with a mixed methods background and a more qualitative skillset.
Both roles work closely together and across the organisation to ensure EEF’s evidence is rigorous, relevant, and has real impact in the system.
In these roles you will:
- Commission evaluations in our priority areas, including critically reviewing evaluation proposals to ensure proposed designs are high quality and cost-effective and that the most suitable external evaluators are matched with projects.
- Manage a portfolio of evaluation projects once external evaluators are appointed and being the primary point of contact for evaluators.
- Liaise between the evaluator and the delivery team (that is delivering the intervention) and chairing meetings to ensure the evaluation project is set up effectively with a high-quality design (working closely with colleagues in EEF’s Programmes team).

We are looking for a creative communications professional with an interest in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL), or vice versa. You will help embed more consistent, robust
approaches to evidence, learning and communications across the organisation, with the aim of improving service quality and better demonstrating our impact to our community, partners and funders.
This is a 12-month fixed-term role, with the primary goal of strengthening our communications and supporting our MEL processes across the organisation. There may be potential to extend the contract, depending on organisational needs and funding.
You will be well supported by the Head of Programmes and Impact and work closely with Programme Managers to support the collection of impact data in meaningful ways — not just to meet funder requirements, but to inform learning and improve delivery. You’ll work closely with our Advocacy, Research and Campaigns manager to support the delivery of strategic communications and will play a key role in communicating our impact - using our branding guidelines - via social media channels, our website and internally.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is excited about making data meaningful and useful for social justice work and understands the power of communicating impact via visual and social media. You are comfortable working in multicultural and multilingual settings and have a track record of working in MEL or in communications. While we’re looking for someone who can take initiative and contribute from early on, we’ll make sure you have the support you need to get to know our work and succeed in the role.
Key responsibilities
Communications

Take a lead on content creation for IRMO’s social media and website, writing engaging, accessible copy and creating engaging visuals suitable for a range of audiences

Work with the programmes team to create impactful content communicating impact data and learnings to all IRMO stakeholders

Support with the management of IRMO’s website

Helping to build an internal understanding of how effectively evaluating our activities supports the delivery of our communications and wider organisational objectives
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning

Support teams with day-to-day data collection, in line with project and funding requirements.

Collect qualitative data to generate useful insight and evidence e.g. through interviews or case studies

Contribute to funding applications with relevant data and impact evidence.

Support the coordination of external impact reporting to funders and stakeholders

Support quarterly and annual reporting across programme areas

Support internal learning processes through participatory evaluations, feedback tools and workshops
Person specification
Essential
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and good communication skills in Spanish or Portuguese
-
2+ years experience in a MEL, research or communications role, ideally in a community or non-profit setting

Strong analytical skills, including experience using digital tools to manage and analyse data such as spreadsheets, databases and survey platforms

Excellent interpersonal skills – able to work collaboratively, build relationships across teams
-
Commitment to IRMO’s values, including anti-racism, anti-oppression, and community-led approaches, and an understanding of the issues facing migrant communities in the UK – particularly Latin Americans
Desirable

Experience in using Canva, Adobe tools or similar to design engaging and creative graphics for social media or printed materials

Experience using CRM systems such as Views, Salesforce or Dynamics 365

Experience working with both quantitative and qualitative data to generate learning, demonstrate impact and inform-decision making

Experience facilitating learning and reflection processes, supporting services to adapt based on evidence

Understanding of data protection standards (including GDPR) and ethical MEL or communications practices
