We are looking for a Bid Manager and Writer to join our Bid Team, which is part of the wider Development, Marketing, and Communications Department! Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, 09:00 - 17:00 Monday to Friday, based in our central office in Islington, with flexible work from home available. You will also be expected to travel across London and the South East, as well as our other locations to attend market engagement and bid related activities and attend regular service visits.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Bid Writing and Management
- Lead in all elements of the bidding process which includes writing competitive bids within strict deadlines.
- Identify, research, and communicate opportunities and needs across the organisation, working proactively with colleagues at all levels to identify fundable initiatives.
- Host internal and external briefings and liaise with relevant teams to develop compelling bids which are fit for purpose, realistic, and aligned with organisational needs and aims.
- Lead the development of specific bid responses which includes the structure, content, and responses. Ensure tenders are submitted on time and achieve the highest scores by the evaluator(s).
- Develop and manage an internal network of subject matter experts and bring them into the development and writing process as required.
- Support colleagues in developing presentations, and briefings.
Partnership Building
- Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships internally throughout the organisation and externally with external partners and organisations.
- Represent Social Interest Group and our subsidiaries in market engagement and events online and in-person and support with all aspects of enhancing and developing our brand.
Organisational Growth
- Identify priorities from strategy and business plans, translating growth plans into effective practices aligned to SIG’s mission, vision, and values.
- Collect and share information relevant to teams involved in Mobilisations and TUPE’s for won bids. Ensure communication is clear, and concise, providing a logical strategy and direction to follow to ensure a smooth transition for new contracts.
Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position.
KEY CRITERIA
What we are looking for:
- Previous experience in a similar role with similar responsibilities, this includes a track record of securing new bids and/or retaining existing contracts
- Previous experience in bid/proposal writing, reviewing, and editing
- IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, experience in Microsoft, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability and willingness to travel and attend market engagement events and to visit services to gain greater understanding of what SIG offers and to inform teams of relevant tender responses
- Ability to create and write engaging content, with proofreading skills
- Proven ability to prioritise and juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral and ability to build relationships
- Ability to review large amounts of information and research materials to inform model development and shape tender responses
- Proficiency in navigating tender portals
What we would like, but not essential:
- Previous experience managing the full bidding process end to end from pre market engagement and contract notification, through to award
- Previous experience working in the same or similar sector

This is a new role for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity as we look to expand our successful Individual Giving & Lottery programmes.

Job Purpose

Key Responsibilities
Events
- Young Furniture Makers Exhibition - To plan, organise and deliver the annual one-day exhibition showcasing the best new talent to industry. Securing event sponsorship and working with sponsors during the organisation process to ensure positive relationships. Working with over 70 exhibitors, multiple sponsors and external suppliers to ensure a successful event.
- Young Professional Industry Engagement event programme - To plan, organise and deliver the annual three-week programme of CPD visits for a selected group of participants to industry hosts across the UK. Working with participants and over 20 organisations to schedule and deliver the programme.
- Furniture Making T-Level conference – Working with the Chair of the Education and Training Committee and selected members to plan, organise and implement a one-day conference on the practicalities of overing the Furniture T-Level in an educational setting.
- Organise and attend several regional career fairs and trade shows to promote the education and training initiatives and encourage young people to consider a career in furniture and furnishings.
- Plan and organise the content of an Education and Training slot at the annual Furniture Makers’ HR Conference to highlight key events and programmes.
- Ensure that equality, diversity and inclusion is considered in all aspects of Education and Training events.
Grants
- Administer a small annual grants scheme supporting colleges and universities which provide specialist furniture and furnishing education courses.
- Manage a travel bursary scheme to support exhibitors attending the Young Furniture Makers Exhibition.
Website
- Administer the jobs board featured on the My Furniture Career website, screening and approving posted vacancies as well as liaising with those posting jobs to confirm the status of the vacancy, sharing data once the vacancy expires and collecting feedback data from the poster.
- To work with the Digital Officer to agree a schedule of content for the website and its associated social media.
- Work with the Communications Manager and Digital Officer to promote the use of the website by the targeted audience group as well as the HR community to post vacancies to the jobs board.
- Produce a quarterly report detailing the usage and any highlights regarding the website.
- Report any technical issues to the website provider and liaise with them to fix the issue.
Reporting
- Quarterly reporting on activity and budget to the Education and Training Committee.
- Supporting the Committee Chair by setting up Committee meetings and taking minutes.
- Supporting the Committee Chair with any other administration as necessary related to the Committee.
- Assist with any ad hoc administration as necessary related to the FIESTA Committee.
Miscellaneous
- Assisting the Education and Training Committee Chair with any administration in regard to the Masters Certificate Scheme.
- Send quarterly feedback surveys mentoring participants and collect the data for reporting purposes.
- Work with the Communications and Marketing Manager to promote Education and Training events.
- Keep the Education and Training budget up to date and process all invoices in a timely manner.
- Report back to all event sponsors after any Education and Training sponsored event to keep sponsors updated and aware of the events successes.

This role is central to connecting supporters of Clatterbridge Cancer Charity with the challenge of their lifetime. The Challenge Events Fundraiser will promote events such as runs, marathons, abseils, bike rides and skydives. PURPOSE OF JOB

To deliver a range of stalking training courses to Trust clients, work with internal experts to ensure course content is kept up to date, provide consultancy project support, and collaborate with a range of statutory and non-statutory clients and stakeholders.

Working arrangements
This is a 12 month fixed term contact covering family leave.
This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London Office (NW1 7AW).

The successful candidate will have:
- Significant experience of developing and implementing an events operational plan and events programme.
- Experience of managing organisational presence at trade shows and events.

- An understanding of how to deliver effective pre- and post-event communications, including experience of developing and delivering plans to share event content with relevant audiences.

Upbeat Communities was founded in 2005 to support refugees and asylum seekers to rebuild their lives through a whole range of support including training, social activities, befriending and hosting. Upbeat Communities became a registered charity in 2015.
In 2013, Upbeat Communities launched Derby Language School (DLS) which is a social enterprise that provides language courses to individuals and organisations in the East Midlands. Alongside generating considerable income for the charity through its private and corporate classes it also provides quality language training for many refugees through contracts with councils.
In 2021, Upbeat Clean was started in response to significant challenges that refugee women have in finding employment to support their families. Upbeat Clean’s 5-year goal is to be able to offer a Real Living Wage job to every refugee woman who needs one in Derby. Upbeat Clean is fast becoming the most talked about commercial cleaning business in Derby with contracts at key venues like Derby Museums, Getinge, Vaillant, Quad, Deda and large offices across the city.
The two social enterprises (DLS and Upbeat Clean) have grown substantially over the last two years with a combined expected turnover of around £700,000 in 2024/25 and more rapid growth ahead. We have over 30 employed cleaners and 20 freelance teachers and interpreters, with over 40 corporate contracts and 100 private clients.
Main duties and responsibilities
Strategy, Analysis & Development:
• Continuously focus on balancing fast social enterprises growth while pursuing excellence for our customers.
• Support with the development of the overall business strategy.
• Lead on key business changes.
• Support in the development and implementation of marketing strategies for both enterprises.
Operations:
• Oversee the day-to-day business needs of Upbeat Clean and DLS.
