The BDA is seeking a new Research Manager to work as part of the Education and Professional Practice Team, leading on the research and impact activities of professional dietetic practice. The role will also provide line management within the team.
The role will support the BDA’s Strategic Plan 2024-34 and lead the growth and delivery of the annual Research Symposium. The role will suit a candidate with a sound understanding and experience of the breadth of dietetic practice and research, and the factors that influence it. Working innovatively the post holder will develop and progress research within dietetic practice, building confidence in the dietetic workforce to be research active.
Ideal candidate:
We are looking for somebody who is an expert in research methodologies, and appraisal and is comfortable setting and influencing research strategy. Ideally we would like somebody who has or is studying for their doctorate in dietetics and experience working in a practice setting would be advantageous. This is a senior internal and external facing role working alongside the Director of Education Practice and Research, and the Education and Practice Managers. The candidate will enjoy supporting colleagues and members to engage and deliver research related projects, and demonstrate impact through evidence-based practice.

Roles and Responsibilities
Grant Operations (55%)
- Lead on the implementation of a recent grantmaking review, conducted by the Impact Team, including revision of key grant templates and processes: due diligence, proposal development, assessment rubric, recommendation reports, reporting, partner surveys and grant exit.
- Lead on the summary of progress towards our grantmaking KPIs, providing detailed reports and recommendations for the SLT, Impact Committee and Trustees on a quarterly basis.
- Lead on the management and development of our Impact Committee, a formal governance body overseeing our grantmaking and impact, comprising 4 Youth Advisory Board members and 4 Trustees.
- Ensure that the Youth Advisory Board has sufficient opportunity to feed into (and shape) activities of the impact team, by collaborating with the Senior Youth Participation Manager
- Support the development and implementation of our new CRM system, ensuring data is captured by Partnership Managers and kept up to date.
- Support the Impact team to identify potential grant applicants by researching organisations in fields and geographies of interest to Mission 44, networking and attending relevant events
- Support Partnership Managers as they lead the day-to-day grant assessment and relationship management with our partners. Support the Impact team to maintain relationships and regular communication with our grantees, including site visits and attendance at partners’ events.
Funder Plus (20%)
- Work with the Impact Team to implement (and continually improve) our Funder Plus programme, ready for delivery in 2026/27 - with input and consultation from a range of internal and external stakeholders
- Meanwhile in 2025/26, support the Partnership Managers in their aim to provide additional support beyond financial grants which help our grantees to build their capacity, leadership potential and resilience - this is likely to involve regular communication with the fundraising team and liaison with our major corporate partners
Research, Learning and Evaluation (15%)
- Lead on the data collection and impact reporting processes which have been developed to capture learning, evidence and impact data from our programmatic work.
- Support our partnership managers to use the data collection and impact reporting processes, ensuring we’re able to collect and analyse key impact data on a regular basis
- Work with our Head of Strategy and Learning and colleagues in the Impact team to help us clearly and confidently articulate the difference we’re making as a foundation.
- Identify opportunities to improve the systems and processes we use to generate appropriate impact data, research, case studies and evidence of our impact
- Identify opportunities to collate and share learning across the Mission 44 team, to influence and inform our future grant-making and organisational strategy
- Build and maintain strong relationships with a range of peer grantmakers, charities, and other external stakeholders within the philanthropic sector, identifying opportunities for Mission 44 to share our learning externally, where appropriate.
Fundraising and Communications (10%)
- Support fundraising efforts by providing data and case studies to include in fundraising proposals and grant reports
- Support engagement between our partners and our donors, by facilitating the delivery of skills-based volunteering activities

The Role
We are recruiting for a Community Fundraising Manager to join our Fundraising team. The role will be instrumental in the Foundation’s engagement with different communities and building fundraising partnerships across a range of community audiences, including youth and education, sports clubs, community groups and individuals doing their own activities. You will be responsible for growing our existing community products such as Turn Cricket Red as well as introducing new products and initiatives to generate growth in Community Fundraising. Part of a small team, you will develop key relationships within the RSF network of supporters, suppliers and delivery partners and manage a portfolio of events and activities for a range of supporter groups.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver the Foundations community fundraising strategy and community fundraising activities and campaigns
- Develop and implement a varied portfolio of events and community fundraising activities to meet agreed objectives, all of which reflect the spirit of the Ruth Strauss Foundation
- Ensure, with the wider Fundraising team, we meaningfully engage different communities with RSF

- Oversee the management of fundraising systems, processes, and platforms in order to create the best possible experience for donors and participants

To achieve these objectives the post holder will be expected to:
- Plan, budget, attend and coordinate an annual community fundraising and events calendar with set objectives, budgets and KPIs for each activity
- Regularly review the performance of fundraising activities/events and products, make recommendations for improvement, and support decision-making regarding fit of new opportunities for the foundation
- Project Manage the delivery of the community fundraising programme at RSF, leading on activity working group meetings, coordinating with key stakeholders to ensure campaigns, activities and events are managed efficiently
- Work closely with the schools lead and school manager to grow our schools fundraising programme – working collaboratively so the training programme objectives are also met
- Develop a long-term growth strategy for Turn Cricket Red – focused on maximising current opportunities as well as diversifying to increase our reach
- Deliver high value supporter stewardship to increase lifetime value and impact of their fundraising
- Build and maintain a variety of community relationships across varying stakeholders and seniority, ensuring opportunities for growth are maximised
- Alongside the team, co-ordinate event/activity logistics including but not limited to sales, bookings and liaison with supporters and suppliers, material production, promotion, set up, and delivery
- Oversee relationship with key providers of event fundraising mechanisms such as online donation platforms, auction platforms and text to donate services
- Work with colleagues to ensure all events are adequately supported with staff, volunteers and hosts, and that all stakeholders receive appropriate training/ briefing and post event debriefs
- Work with the Head of MarComms and Digital to produce engaging fundraising collateral and information for event and community supporters including pre and post event communications/marketing collateral, working with external production companies where required
- Ensure all events and activities are compliant with fundraising code of conduct, GDPR and other event processes/policies
- Oversee the use of the CRM system to ensure data is recorded in compliance to Data Protection and GDPR and maximises output for supporter journeys
- Use sector trends and audience analysis to direct strategy and ensure that RSF remains innovative and at the forefront of Community fundraising

Reporting to the Head of Operations and working collaboratively with the Partnerships Project Manager, the Programme Delivery Officer will play a crucial role in the day-to-day programme management of the organisation’s programmes and partnership delivery.
This role will also involve strong elements towards cultivating relationships with key external partners, including businesses, non-profits and other stakeholders, to enhance organisational initiatives, drive growth, and ensure long-term collaboration. Providing rigorous operational support and programme administration as needed.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
· Provide comprehensive support to the Partnerships Project Manager
· Build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential new partners to maximise engagement and collaboration.
· Act as a point of contact for partners and project/programme stakeholders.
· Assisting with programme and project initiation, such as design and planning.
· Assisting with programme and project delivery, such as: updating progress, resolving problems, ordering content and collateral, and supporting with other delivery tasks.
· Data analysis and programme reporting, preparing partner reports and tracking performance.
· Organise and deliver outreach and engagement activity (such as running stalls at events) to partners, community groups and local charities.
· Travel to engagement events across the UK

Office Management:
