The ability to engage with and use effectively various web-based software tools is desirable. Logistics and event management experience is also beneficial. The Involvement and Engagement team at Alzheimer’s Research UK is responsible for delivering a wide portfolio of activities to increase understanding of dementia, engage and involve the public and people affected by dementia with research and promote the work of Alzheimer’s Research UK. The team work closely with people affected by dementia to gather their insights to shape our work and campaigns.
The team is part of the Information and Involvement department. The department’s mission is to improve understanding of dementia and the diseases which cause it and encourage and support the public and people affected by dementia to get involved in research.
The manager leads on the development of a wide range of activities, such as coordinating meetings with the Lived Experience Involvement Group; the online public engagement programme; and managing the Inspire Fund community engagement grant scheme. The role has responsibility for monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the impact of the public involvement and engagement programme. In addition, the role holder will identify improvements and undertake strategy development and implementation working with the Head of the Department to deliver this.
Reporting to the Head of Information and Involvement, the Manager has two line reports, and the team works closely with colleagues across the Policy, Communications and Involvement Directorate, notably the Information Services and Policy teams. The team also has regular interactions with people affected by dementia and supports the wider charity in engaging effectively with supporters about dementia research. They work closely with colleagues in the Research and Partnerships directorate, and Volunteering and Events teams to deliver activities.
This is a 12-month fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave. This role will be known internally as Involvement and Engagement Manager
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Lead the Involvement and Engagement team
· Work with the Head of Information and Involvement to plan and implement involvement and engagement programmes to support the development of the charity’s goals.
· Implement the Involvement and Engagement strategy for Alzheimer’s Research UK, ensuring a varied portfolio of opportunities, with a focus on reaching diverse and underserved audiences.
· Line manage two Involvement and Engagement Officers, setting objectives, with responsibility for their personal growth and development, and that of the team.
Implement the involvement of lived experience across the organisation
· Lead the management of the charity’s Lived Experience Involvement Group, overseeing the recruitment, onboarding and ongoing engagement of volunteers with lived experience of dementia.
· Lead and manage the planning of involvement activity, including a calendar of events and activities for the lived experience group, to include regular online meetings, in person events, and opportunities to contribute to ARUKs strategic initiatives and campaigns.
· Responsible for ongoing monitoring and evaluation of involvement activities, ensuring volunteers are aware of their impact, communicating impact of involvement both internally and externally to the organisation.
· Responsible for championing the value and impact of involvement across the organisation, seeking new involvement opportunities and working towards embedding involvement in key areas of the charities work.
· Work closely with and support the Research Involvement Manager with implementing involvement of lived experience in research programmes, also with external requests for support with involvement in research.
· Ensure processes to manage a database of lived experience volunteers are robust and up to date and that policies and procedures are adhered to.
Deliver public engagement programmes and activities
· Deliver the Inspire Fund community engagement grant scheme, managing the application and awards process, monitoring ongoing grants, supporting grant holders and reporting on impact.
· Oversee the planning and coordination of the public engagement events programme, including supporting the Involvement and Engagement Officer with delivery of the online public engagement series and other events.
· Working closely with colleagues in the Research team support and facilitate dementia researchers to deliver public engagement activities, providing guidance and resources as required.
· Work with the Involvement and Engagement Officers to maintain existing engagement resources and promote their use across the charity. Develop new engagement resources that can be used across a variety of events.
· Support colleagues across ARUK to build skills and confidence talking about dementia and research, and how to engage with their audiences.
What we are looking for:
· Graduate or equivalent level of education in biomedical sciences, science communication or similar.
· Experience of discussing and communicating health or research matters to the public.
· Experience of working with people affected by a long-term health condition and supporting their contributions to organisational activities or research.
· Experience of leading outreach, engagement and involvement/or involving the public with research.
· Strong experience of planning, coordinating, and delivering involvement and engagement events.
· Relevant project management experience.
· Experience working in an involvement, engagement, or public facing role or similar.
· Experience of working across partnerships, building strong working relationships (internally and externally).
· Strong and effective written and spoken communication skills, ability to tailor to lay audiences.
· Good knowledge of the research process and how the public can play a part in that process.
· Knowledge and understanding of engagement and involvement methods drawn from academia, health research or the charity sector.
· Ability to identify and develop creative opportunities for public engagement and involvement and discussion emanating from scientific research.
· An eye for creativity and innovation, and ability to grow personal network of professional contacts and create new opportunities for engagement and involvement.
· Excellent organisational skills; the ability to manage a number and variety of tasks to multiple deadlines.
· Ability to communicate appropriately with people affected by dementia and their families.

Additional Information:
Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

The Role
As Fundraising and Administration Officer, you’ll support the fundraising team across our events and supporter stewardship. This varied role will see you work with the team across events and project management, fundraising stewardship and communications alongside incredible international and national travel opportunities supporting Ride Africa and Charity Concierge events.

About the position
Responsible for the strategic leadership and effective delivery of Humane World UK’s wildlife campaigns, this role is an exciting opportunity to create change at scale. The purpose of the position is to deliver Humane World UK’s wildlife campaigns including, at present, ensuring the successful passage into law of a Bill to ban imports of hunting trophies into the UK. The role will be responsible for identifying opportunities to progress wildlife protection in the UK, including for Humane World's global priority initiatives to promote humane human-wildlife co-existence, and to effectively tackle wildlife trade including for 'exotic' companion animals.

About the Youth Endowment Fund
We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.
Last year, 244 people in England and Wales tragically died after being assaulted with a knife. Of these, 32 were children. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them. Even beyond knife crime, we know that the fear of violence has a terrible effect on children’s daily lives.
The Youth Endowment Fund exists to try and permanently change things. To succeed, we must build an exceptional body of knowledge about violence affecting young people and how we reduce it. This knowledge has to be both rigorous and highly relevant to those making decisions about how to support vulnerable young people. We need to find out what works and what doesn’t through evidence synthesis, data analysis and qualitative research into children’s lives. We then need to convert this into highly accessible content on what works, how delivery organisations need to change their practice and how the systems they operate in need to be reformed.
About the Toolkit Team
The Toolkit team is at the heart of our work to spread knowledge of what works to prevent children becoming involved in violence. We want research to lead actual changes in outcomes for children.
Our flagship resource, the Toolkit, is a free, online resource that summarises the best available evidence about the effectiveness of various approaches to preventing children becoming involved in violence. It explains the evidence, how confident we can be about the findings, and provides actionable guidance to help policy makers, commissioners, and practitioners to turn evidence into action. The Toolkit is influencing real world policy and practice: the Home Office requires Violence Reductions Units to allocate at least 30% of their funding to interventions that have an impact rating of ‘high’ or ‘moderate’ in the Toolkit. Over half of Youth Justice Services use the Toolkit to align their work with the latest available evidence. Our Change team use the Toolkit to influence systems, policy and practice across children’s services, education, health, neighbourhoods, policing, youth services and youth justice.
The Toolkit is a live resource that currently contains 35 approaches to violence prevention, and we will add at least ten updates to the content this year. New research is published every day around the world. We collate relevant studies in our YEF programmes evidence and gap map and YEF systems evidence and gap map, and we collate study results in our Effect Size Database. We are working in partnership with the National Children’s Bureau and the EPPI Centre to implement new technology and to use machine learning to create a ‘living platform’, that contains relevant studies and their results in one place. This is an exciting development that will significantly speed up our production of systematic reviews and meta-analyses to keep the Toolkit up to date.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Research Manager will be an essential part of the YEF Toolkit Team and will develop a portfolio of impactful projects. The core of your role will be leading the commissioning of evidence synthesis, using our new methodology, across a range of topics and producing Toolkit content.
You will:
Commission new systematic reviews.
- You will lead the commissioning and management of systematic reviews of the evidence through our Toolkit and Evidence Synthesis Partners: the National Children’s Bureau, the EPPI Centre, and the Race Equality Foundation. This will involve scoping and prioritising violence prevention approaches, convening expert advisory groups, reviewing research protocols and technical reports, and ensuring that research products produce actionable insights.
Write accurate and actionable summaries of evidence for the Toolkit.
· You will use findings from evidence synthesis to write new summaries for the Toolkit, and to inform YEF’s guidance and implementation resources.
· You will ensure that Toolkit content is only ever easy-to-understand and written in plain English with incredible clarity.
·You will collaborate with our Research team and our Change team to feed insights from the evidence into systems, sector and practice guidance.
Lead Toolkit communications.
· Collaborating with the YEF Communications and Public Affairs team, you will produce accurate social media content, blogs, and briefings on new Toolkit content to facilitate accurate journalism and press coverage.
Become an expert on the Toolkit.
· You will be an advocate for Toolkit evidence, and you will ensure insights from this evidence are accurately communicated to policy makers and practitioners. You will do this by delivering presentations on Toolkit evidence and providing briefings.

Save the Children UK has an exciting opportunity for a strategic and relationship focused individual with extensive communication and project management experience to join us as our Participation and Partnerships Manager (12 month FTC) where you will work within the Wales team to incorporate the voices of the community to help influence change.
This is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. There is also a permanent Participation and Partnerships Manager role, if you are interested.

About the role
As Participation and Partnerships Manager, you'll lead our work to centre the voices and experiences of children and young people in everything we do. You'll manage relationships with community partners, coordinate participation opportunities, and help shape national and local policy to tackle child poverty in Wales.
This is a unique opportunity to work directly with children, young people, and families, building platforms for them to share their experiences and co-create solutions. You'll also work cross-functionally with media, advocacy, and policy colleagues to ensure participation is embedded in our campaigns and influencing efforts.
In this role, you will:
• Lead participation and engagement with children and young people across our key outcome areas: money, services, and power.
• Develop and manage strategic partnerships with community groups and organisations, ensuring alignment with national objectives.
• Coordinate co-design processes, events, and campaigns that empower children and families to influence change.
• Ensure safeguarding and ethical standards are upheld in all participation activities.
• Support advocacy and media work by producing compelling stories, resources, and case studies.
• Champion inclusion, applying anti-racist and intersectional principles across all work.
• Contribute to fundraising and donor engagement by demonstrating the impact of our work.
About you
To be successful, it is important that you have:
• Experience working directly with children and young people to influence change.
• Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
• A deep understanding of participatory practice, including co-design and the UNCRC.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, and a commitment to children's wellbeing.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive and resilient mindset with the ability to lead and support collaborative projects.

Ways of Working:
The majority of our roles can be performed remotely in the UK, but there are likely to be times when you will be required to come to your contracted office (up to 2-4 days per month or 6-8 days per quarter). This will be agreed with your Line Manager and team and is intended to be time spent on collaborating with colleagues and relationship building.
