Job description

Job Description - Community Fundraiser
Responsible to: Business Development Director
Location: Baca office, Loughborough, England. The role will require travel across the Leicestershire and East Midlands region

Hours:                         22.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent on successful completion of probation
Salary: £21K per Annum (Pro Rata)

Overall Purpose

  • To expand and deepen the commitment of both existing and new community supporters in line with the Baca’s vision and strategy. To coordinate and deliver a community fundraising programme engaging with a wide range of people and generating an income that ensures Baca is able to deliver the best possible service to unaccompanied asylum seeking and trafficked young people to achieve our long term impact to see every young person become positive empowered individuals who are able to live independently as contributors to the society.

Duties Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain partnerships with volunteer fundraisers and community groups in line with Baca's vision and values to help us achieve our core objectives.
  • Be a proactive member of the Fundraising team and work very closely with the leadership and service delivery teams.
  • Identify, recruit, engage and mobilise networks of community fundraisers.
  • Develop a strong digital fundraising platform, increasing and inspiring Baca supporters by creating compelling campaigns through social media, emails and offline events in line with the Code of Fundraising Practice.
  • Identify, where possible individuals with lived experience to play a leading role in relevant campaigns
  • Deliver excellent supporter care to ensure Baca’ supporters have a positive & excellent supporter experience through strong long-term stewardship.
  • Develop and co-ordinate a number of key fundraising events in the charity’s calendar.
  • Raise funds in line with yearly fundraising targets.
  • Research and initiate ideas for a wide range of events and community activities.
  • Assist with the delivery of Baca’s communication strategy.
  • Maintain communication guidelines for the organisation and ensure external and internal communications are in line with values and representative of Baca’s ‘voice’.
  • Assist with the development of public communications such as website articles, blogs, with the wider Baca team
  • Administer and track Donor data in line with GDPR regulations.


  • Play an active and supportive role within the organisation.
  • Embrace the Vision and Values of Baca and reflect this in working practice.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in relation to work undertaken and ensure all confidential material is stored according to Baca’s Confidentiality statement and Data Protection Policy.
  • Treat all staff and young people fairly and without prejudice, in line with Baca’s Equality and Diversity policy.
  • Be aware of the correct procedures for dealing with any incidences of safeguarding concerns and follow them in line with Baca’s Child Vulnerable Adult Protection & Safeguarding Policy.
  • Adhere to all Baca’s policies and procedures.

Personal Specification  

Baca is looking for a Community Fundraiser to deliver our fundraising strategy aimed at increasing our supporter base and income from donations from individuals and community groups. We are looking for someone who is highly motivated and has a huge enthusiasm to inspire and engage groups in the community to fundraise for the charity. They will be able to catch the Baca’s vision and communicate with excellence and passion. They will be able to represent Baca’s mission with authenticity to the community. This person needs to be highly organised, flexible and able to motivate people and community groups to fundraise with energy and passion. They should have strong digital skills and be able to build strong relationships. They must be able to pay attention to high level of detail whilst being connected to the bigger picture of the strategy.


  • Previous experience in community fundraising and volunteer management.
  • Experience in organising events, both face to face and through digital fundraising.
  • Experience in working towards financial targets
  • Strong experience in using various digital platforms.
  • Specific understanding of digital campaigning and communications


  • A key part for the role will be the ability to build and maintain relationships, using strong interpersonal skills and initiative. Initially this may need to be achieved in a creative way using digital platforms.
  • Able to be enthusiastic, passionate and inspirational.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and able to work both as part of a team and independently.
  • Ability to plan, organise and manage regular events proactively whilst paying attention to a high level of detail.

Other Expectations

  • Have a genuine concern for and commitment to asylum seekers/refugees, young people and UASCs in particular.
  • Background/experience/knowledge of refugee and asylum issues is desirable
  • Ability and commitment to work within a framework of confidentiality and anti-discriminatory practice at all times.
  • Commitment to work within the aims, values and ethos of the organisation.
  • Ability to have flexibility with working hours to manage fundraising events, deliver verbal presentations, and support fundraisers.
  • Holds a full, clean driving licence and has regular access to transport.
  • Full legal right to work in the UK without restriction.  
  • Appointment is subject to a satisfactory DBS check.
