Salary Range (depending on experience): pro rata of £32,910 – £38,745 incl. OLW

Hours: Part-time 21 hours per week. We are able to offer some flexibility with the role such as term time only or flexibility with days/times.

About the role

Richmond AID is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic person who will support our vision of putting Deaf and Disabled people at the centre of everything we do. We are looking for an experienced person who can develop and implement an engagement and co-production strategy. You will work closely with our other managers and play an integral role in the management team.

The role involves leading the delivery and development of our dynamic Community and Engagement team. This multidisciplinary team currently has 6 direct reports and services include: BuddyUp, Spade gardening service, Mental Health Peer Support service, Connect to Tech digital training, Campaigning and our wide range of peer group activities.  There is a variety of skills and experience which will require someone to We are looking for someone to not just manage these services, but to lead their development and widen our coverage across the borough of Richmond. This will predominantly involve supporting the people involved to be leaders of their own projects, developing/modernising our delivery model, ensuring projects meet targets and quality standards and when required also being involved in supporting direct service delivery.

You will have strong leadership skills with experience of managing a multi-disciplinary team. You must have experience in the delivery of community facing services and be able to  demonstrate an understanding of the challenges faced by Disabled people. It is essential you bring passion, dynamic ideas and creativity to the role.

You will be an excellent networker internally and externally. You will have strong influencing skills, and will have the right blend and balance of people skills with excellent communication and project management abilities. You must be comfortable connecting with the wider community, able to listen, gather the views of local people, and feed these back into our wider programme of work. You’ll be confident in participative strategies and tools such as facilitating groups, arranging events, developing surveys, gathering views and responding to consultations.

You will have experience of managing a team covering a wide range of projects and interests. You will know what it takes to set up and manage a project and ensure it meets the intended outcomes.

You will be skilled in managing group dynamics and supporting your team to have boundaries with clients. You will also have experience of managing Safeguarding issues. Above all you must bring a positive, solution focused attitude.

Experience of campaigning work, with a track record of delivering innovative digital campaigns that have led to real change, would be an advantage.

About Richmond AID

Richmond AID offers 25 days annual leave plus eight bank holidays pro rata. Normal office hours are 9am to 5.15pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 5pm on Fridays. You will be based at our offices in the Disability Action and Advice Centre, 4 Waldegrave Road, Teddington, TW11 8HT but may need to work from other locations as needed.

Related roles: volunteer manager, services manager, service coordinator, community development facilitator, campaign manager, community engagement, co-production manager, activities coordinator.

The Project Delivery Manager will play an important role in helping us to achieve that vision, by working to deliver a State of the Nation review of sarcoma services and treatment in the UK. This will help us fully understand what the barriers are to progress, and the actions needed to improve health outcomes for sarcoma patients. 

This fixed-term and part-time role is ideal for an experienced policy consultant or consultancy firm, or a policy researcher, with experience in running policy, research or public affairs projects, including evidence-gathering exercises, working with stakeholders, and producing report findings. 

Project budget:  An additional £13,000 will be available to support the project’s evidence-gathering, e.g. to help set up and run meetings or events. 

About you: 

We are looking for a highly motivated, organised, goal focused, self-starter with the following experience, knowledge, skills and abilities:

• An understanding of the health policy environment, knowledge of health policy including cancer, how it is delivered by the NHS, and ideally rare cancer or sarcoma care.
• Experience of working and communicating well with a range of stakeholders, such as elected representatives, government officials, healthcare professionals, and people affected by health conditions.
• Experience in working with and supporting these kinds of stakeholders, and particularly people affected by health conditions, to give evidence.
• Experiencing in running projects to gather written and spoken evidence, including setting up and running meetings and workshops.
• Experience of working with an advisory or similar stakeholder group.
• Highly effective skills in analysing policy and evidence.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex ideas and information clearly to a variety of audiences with a strong attention to detail, e.g. via written or verbal briefing or reports.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Project management 

• Lead the delivery of the State of the Nation review project, reporting to the Policy and Public Affairs Manager and working with the Policy and Public Affairs Officer.
• Develop and implement an evidence-gathering plan, with clear and achievable timelines.
• Running the evidence-gathering process, including Call for Evidence, and arranging evidence sessions, meetings, or events (e.g., workshop(s) or roundtable) to facilitate evidence-gathering.

Secretariat

• Work with and support the State of the Nation Advisory Group to meet regularly during the review, and to facilitate their role in providing advice and support during the project.
• Schedule meetings, assist members with travel and/or accommodation arrangements as necessary.
• Circulate agendas and papers no less than five working days before meetings (and make every effort to provide any further information requested).
• Listen and act upon members’ feedback and respond promptly to any queries. 
• Circulate minutes no more than ten working days after meetings.
• Analysis of written and verbal evidence received by the review.
• Produce written briefing to support evidence-gathering, via evidence sessions, workshop or roundtable meetings.
• Following the conclusion of the evidence-gathering, draft an initial outline report for the Advisory Group to consider. 
• Also produce draft and full final reports, drawing on received evidence, detailing draft key findings and recommendations, and taking account of advice from the Nation Advisory Group.

External relationships

• Develop and maintain positive relationships with people personally affected by sarcoma and healthcare professionals working in this field, including those giving evidence to the review, and members of the Advisory Group.
• Represent Sarcoma UK at external Policy and Public Affairs events, or meetings with key stakeholders, e.g., British Sarcoma Group Conference, and meetings of the Sarcoma Advisory Group Chairs, when the role-holder may be required to promote or present about the review.
• Develop relationships with key influencers, including parliamentarians, government officials, the NHS, and other stakeholders, to support delivery of the review project.

Internal relationships

• Work as part of the State of the Nation Project Board, to coordinate decision-making on the delivery of activity under the review, to:
  • keep project timelines and outputs on track to meet timelines
  • quality assure outputs, and
  • manage risks.
• Advise and support on engagement with stakeholders to support the evidence-gathering process, the report production, action plan for stakeholders, and development of new Sarcoma UK policy positions.
• Work with other Sarcoma UK teams to support delivery of the review, e.g. communications, digital, Support Line, Patient Involvement Network Coordinator.
• Provide written or in-person updates on the review to the Trustee Board as required.

General

• Attend Sarcoma UK events which form part of the State of the Nation review.
• The role may require occasional travel to meeting and events. Occasional weekend or evening work may also be required and time off in lieu will be given.

About the role

Smart Works exists to empower all women who need help getting into work. We are currently in a significant growth phase, doubling the number of women we support to 10,000 women a year by 2025. As such, we require vital cornerstone funding and are seeking to establish a Major Gifts function, to secure donations from high-net worth individuals, that will enable us to achieve our mission and help thousands of women to transform their lives.

This is an exciting new role that provides an opportunity to build a new major gifts programme from scratch. Supported by the Director of Partnerships, you will work closely with the CEO, Board, and our network of 750 volunteers, to develop a giving strategy that will engage and grow a new pool of crucial supporters for Smart Works.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of existing major donors, as well as conducting prospect research, developing bespoke stewardship materials, and securing five-figure and six-figure repeat gifts.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the interface of research, farming and policy working as part of the GFM team to support the development of the GFM framework and its application on farm, in the food supply chain, for education and learning, policy and finance.

Reporting to the Head of Research of the SFT, you will join the GFM team responsible for a wide range of trials, in the UK and internationally. These include Defra Elms pilots, farm cluster groups, supply chain trials, and international trials delivered as partners of Regen10. Our trials test the application of the framework and the use of the GFM by other stakeholders. 

You will work collaboratively with the trials team managers supporting the design, evaluation and timely delivery of trials. You will lead the quantitative and qualitative analysis of results and the design and reporting of feedback from participants, working with project partners, our trials team, and the wider SFT team to achieve and communicate outcomes. You will provide technical support to the team for the current GFM assessment and work with them and other project partners on the continuing development of sustainability assessments and data collection methodologies for application nationally and internationally. 

The postholder will also have the opportunity to contribute to related work on the conceptual development and application of the framework in different contexts. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Support the team of trials managers responsible for a wide range of GFM trials, in the UK and internationally. 
• Lead on the quantitative and qualitative analysis and interpretation of results and the design and reporting of feedbacfrom participants.
• Support the reporting and communication of results, leading the writing of key reports for stakeholders as needed. 
• Contribute to the development and delivery of assessments used for the trials nationally and internationally - providing technical support including around data management, cleaning and extraction. 
• Support the design and facilitation of workshops for trial farmers and farm advisors. 
• Support the team to deliver their trials and meet trial deadlines, whilst sharing best practice and learnings across the team to build on the skills and strengths of the team across all trials. 
• Contribute to GFM framework development and its application beyond the trials.

Relationships:

• Contribute to discussion and review of metrics and GFM team outputs and planning.

Specifically, we are looking for candidates who have experience with and can demonstrate the following: 

• Masters level qualification (or degree level with 2-3 years relevant workplace experience) in a subject area related to food and farming 
• Good knowledge and practical experience of UK farming and farm sustainability. 
• Strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills. 
• Experience in developing, delivering, or researching farm sustainability assessments including knowledge of LCA and similar impact assessment approaches.
• Competence in the use of Excel and other packages to collect, manage, analyse and interpret quantitative and qualitative data. 
• Ability to create simple coding for data management, analysis and display an advantage 
• Experience of delivering high quality, robust reports and written materials for different audiences 
• Experience of engagement with farmers and/or farm advisors (desirable).

 Duty Officer:

 – Opening and closing of the Sovereign Centre, depending on shift, and ensure the safety of the area in adherence with YMCA procedures.

– To ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed, i.e. fire evacuation, safety of facility users, assisting with any accidents that occur and giving first aid if needed.

– To follow YMCA safeguarding policy to ensure that vulnerable adults and young people are properly protected.

– Setting up/down rooms for hire including equipment, checking for damage and ensure it is safe to use.

– Overseeing rooms and facilities, general tidying and ensure all areas are safe including storage and outside spaces.

– Assisting with reception duties including taking payments for activities, answering visitor enquiries and promoting YMCA services.

Policy Development

• Collaborate with AdviceUK colleagues to develop relationships with AdviceUK members, partners, funders and sector stakeholders to capture key policy data to support policy and advocacy work.
• Research, write and produce a range of policy material, including reports, select committee responses, evidence statements, briefings and responses to Government consultations.
• Manage the monitoring of policy, regulation and political activity across the UK, including key debates, parliamentary questions, All Party Group and select committee activities to inform our policy and campaigns activity.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: 

As a key member of the leadership team, the Head of Operations (HOO) plays a vital role in the development and delivery of Cockpit’s strategic plan, working closely with the Chief Executive. The HOO will ensure operational excellence, site optimisation in Bloomsbury and Deptford and lead on property strategy. The role encompasses oversight of the maker community, management of IT systems, leading on HR and responsibility for health and safety compliance.

This role would suit an entrepreneurial self-starter with demonstrable experience in property and building management, project management, budget and fiscal control, HR and team management. Knowledge of planning, business and charity financing, leasehold and landlord-tenant legislation is desirable.  The role requires strong negotiation skills and the ability to exert influence and maintain critical relationships. It requires a keen focus on delivery and detail as well as the ability to retain big picture perspectives.  Exemplary communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential. 

MAIN DUTIES: 

1 PROPERTY AND BUILDING MANAGEMENT 

Cockpit has two sites in Deptford and Bloomsbury. At each site, a Studio Manager has responsibility for the day-to-day running of the sites and liaison with makers.  The Studio Managers will report to the HOO who will coordinate, plan and/or oversee all the practical management of the buildings including repairs and maintenance; alterations and refurbishments; space allocations and use of space; health and safety; tenant/maker welfare/support etc. 

The HOO will manage the Studio complexes to ensure they meet the requirements of the charity and resident makers while ensuring commercial optimisation.

The HOO will ensure efficient use of space and consider charitable and commercial objectives when setting prices and rates to ensure a balanced outcome.  The HOO is responsible for ensuring compliance on all aspects of Health and Safety, insurance and risk assessment. 

The HOO is responsible for project managing all future real estate projects from inception to completion. They will ensure that sufficient resources, budgets and expertise are in place for such projects. The HOO will sit on Cockpit’s Property Committee. 

2 LEASES, INSURANCE, LEGAL, RATES AND LA 

With oversight from the CEO and Board, and relevant legal advice, the HOO will manage leasehold negotiations with Cockpit’s landlord, Camden Council.  The HOO will report on such matters to the Property committee of the Board.

Working with the CEO, the HOO will manage licences issued to studio holders developing pricing structures and documentation that reflect Cockpits charitable aims and commercial objectives. 

Working with the CEO, the HOO will set hire rates, rentals and other pricing related to Cockpits spaces and services in line with Cockpit’s charitable aims and commercial objectives. They will be responsible for issuing associated contracts and licences. 

The HOO will oversee all insurance requirements and ensure that terms required are met.  The HOO will oversee legal compliance issues in collaboration with the CEO and as directed. 

The HOO will maintain good relationships with Local Authorities and be responsible for monitoring and overseeing all rates or other levies in relation to the buildings or the charity itself. 

3 COMMERCIAL EVOLUTION AND PROJECTS  

The HOO will take an active leadership role in developing and delivering commercial opportunities for the charity in line with its charitable objectives and the strategic plan.  The HOO will lead on the strategy for development of space and venue hire, tours, better utilisation of space, and AV studio hire. The HOO will evaluate commercial opportunities/risks and will manage the delivery and ultimate running of such spaces. 

The HOO will also oversee the successful delivery and oversight of the cafe operator in Deptford.

4 LIVE EVENTS  

The HOO will actively contribute to the creative development of Cockpit events, including but not limited to Open Studios. They will be responsible for the operational planning and timely delivery of the events including budget management. The Event Manager and Events Coordinator will report into the HOO on all relevant events.

The HOO will be responsible for ensuring there is clear post event reporting from all departments, and that this is tracked year on year to ensure it informs future strategy, budgets and investment.

5 YOUTH AND COMMUNITY 

Working with the CEO, HOO is responsible for overseeing Cockpit’s Youth and Community activities. They will be responsible for the recruitment and management of the producer, as well as overseeing budgets. The HOO will oversee the programming of any Youth & Community activities across the year and ensure these are aligned to the charities objectives and are properly funded. They will work closely with the Head of Development and Youth and Community Producer to ensure Cockpit targets the correct funding bids and works with the correct partners to deliver impactful programmes in a cost-effective manner. 

6 IT and DATA MANAGEMENT 

The HOO is responsible for managing Cockpit’s external IT consultant to ensure that all hardware and software bought and used by the charity is up-to-date, efficient, cost effective, secure and suitable for the charity’s activities. 

The HOO is responsible for overseeing all software and digital upgrades including but not limited to the charity’s CRM, cloud-based services and future automation.

7 DATA AND GDPR 

The HOO will play a central role in the planning and correct implementation of any data programme for Cockpit. This will be in close collaboration with the Head of Marketing and Digital and the CEO.

The HOO is responsible for GDPR for Cockpit and will take on responsibility for compliance and other copyright or legal practices in relation to safe data management, firewall implementation, working closely with the Head of Marketing and Digital on these matters.

8 COMPLIANCE, RISK REGISTER, HANDBOOKS, HR 

The HOO has line management responsibility for the Deptford and Bloomsbury Studio Managers, Events and Venue Coordinator, Event Manager, Youth and Community Producer and overall responsibility for Cockpit’s HR function. 

The HOO will take responsibility for ensuring compliant staff practices in relation to up-to-date staff contracts, health and safety, maternity and all other relevant HR matters.  In association with the CEO and Financial Controller, the HOO will manage and record annual leave. 

The HOO will work with the Studio Managers to ensure good Maker welfare and be responsible for policies that result in positive outcomes in relation to the Cockpit community. 
 

The HOO will liaise with the CEO and advise on risks in the HR area and will sit on the People Committee of Cockpit.

The HOO will evaluate when HR risk requires external advice and will agree any necessary actions with CEO. 

The HOO will be responsible for the Staff Handbook, The Trustee Handbook, Maker Welcome Pack/Handbooks and all relevant compliance materials for updating and circulation, including all company policies.

Working with the CEO, the HOO will manage the Risk Register and update the Board in a timely manner on any pertinent and impending changes to that with the potential to impact the charity. The HOO will be a member of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee (FARCo) of Cockpit.

The HOO will take on responsibility for recruitment practices and onboarding activities for new employees, contractors and trustees. 

The HOO will oversee the performance review process, coordinate staff training and be responsible for the training budget. 

9 DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION 

In conjunction with the CEO, the HOO will oversee and implement policies that foster and reflect the charity’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.  This may include managing new and existing initiatives, updating policies and undertaking formal reviews.  The HOO will champion Cockpit’s diversity objectives at the Board’s People Committee (PeCo). 

10 COMMITTEES AND BOARD 

The HOO will provide a support role to the CEO on preparation of Board papers and reports.  The HOO will coordinate committee meeting dates and circulate them to the members appropriately, with administrative support.  The HOO will oversee the minutes for all meetings, working with an external minute taker. The HOO may maintain activity lists and will work with the CEO and the Board of Trustees to ensure exceptional Governance.

About the role

The London Library is planning a major, multi-year building project and is looking for a Senior Facilities Officer - Project Management to work within the Buildings and Facilities Management team to help support and deliver the project.

• The appointment is subject to satisfactory references and an initial six-month period of probation, during which performance will be regularly reviewed.
• The applicant must have the right to work in the UK and provide relevant ‘right to work’ documentation.
• Relevant training will be provided during induction as well as opportunities to develop your career through experience of different aspects of the charity’s work and working with colleagues on new initiatives.
• The organisation’s hybrid working policy is at the discretion of the line-manager during the first three months of employment, to support the induction process.
