Who we are.

The Orchard Project brings orchards into the heart of urban communities, along with the many benefits they provide: environmental, physical, mental, social, and educational. They are the only national charity dedicated to the creation, restoration and celebration of community orchards.

For many hundreds of years, orchards were a key part of communities across the UK. But sadly, due to urban development, many of these green spaces, which are hubs of biodiversity, have disappeared. The Orchard Project’s mission is to reverse this decline and ensure everyone in cities across the UK is within easy reach of a thriving community orchard.

They also provide accredited horticultural courses and training with a view to increasing employment and representation amongst marginalised communities and host events and activities centred around orchards to improve community cohesion.

The fruit produced by orchards is used by local communities and shared throughout cities by teaming up with foodbank charities and advocating nationwide for the benefits of community orchards.

The Orchard Project is a national charity working across the country with bases in London, Manchester, Bristol, Swansea, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

About the role.

As Head of Fundraising and a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll work closely with the CEO to devise the organisation’s fundraising strategy as they enter a positive and ambitious new five-year plan.

There is a very well-established trust and foundation fundraising programme, which you’ll work to continue and expand, building on existing relationships and spotting opportunities to create new partnerships with relevant funders. Using creativity, you will secure multiyear unrestricted six-figure grants from an array of grantmakers as you continue the diversification of this income stream.

The charity is continuing the expansion of its fundraising strategy to incorporate new income streams, a project you’ll spearhead with the launch of digital fundraising. You’ll target individual givers to open up new revenue sources through digital sources as you tap into the goodwill for the charity and its work across the nation.

Who we are looking for.

We are seeking an experienced fundraiser and emotionally intelligent manager with expertise in imaginative bid-writing for significant multiyear grants. A combined strategic and operational outlook will be crucial to this role and the success of fundraising.

You will be process-driven but creative with a desire to try new things and collaborate with colleagues to create new and exciting projects to attract funders and expand the charity’s impact.

Job Purpose:

The Fundraising and Administration Officer role primarily focuses on providing excellent supporter care and administrative support within the fundraising department. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining supporter relations, optimising fundraising efforts, and ensuring efficient administrative processes are in place.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporter Care:

• To be a first point of contact for the Fundraising Department, answering the phone and meeting and greeting people who arrive to the office.
• Respond to enquiries from supporters, prospective supporters and volunteers via telephone, e-mail, and post, maintaining excellent supporter relations.
• Ensure timely and appropriate acknowledgments, using both standard and bespoke correspondence.
• To adhere to administrative procedures to ensure the delivery of a high-quality service which is compliant with all relevant legislation, policies, regulations, and guidelines.
• Provide admin support for Direct Mail letters and appeals, including the use of mail merge, when required.
• Assist with the ongoing stewardship of Regular Givers.

Community Fundraising:

• Co-ordinate the recruitment and appropriate use of volunteers to support fundraising.
• Develop relationships with volunteer fundraisers, with the aim of maximising the funds they raise through challenges, events and talks.
• Support the formation of volunteer fundraising groups.
• Support ongoing and new events within the UK, which may include occasional weekend and evening work.
• Take the lead with the co-ordination and administration of public collections in the UK.
• Take the lead in monitoring fundraising merchandise, and liaise with suppliers, for fundraising materials, including Christmas Cards.

Digital Marketing:

• Support in developing UK digital fundraising opportunities.
• Administer digital acquisition campaigns in the UK e.g. through digital advertising, to generate new donors.

Database Management (Training will be provided):

• Create and maintain contact records on Salesforce, ensuring supporter information is kept up to date by recording changes to mailing preferences, gift aid eligibility and contact details etc.
• Database maintenance and housekeeping e.g. identifying and merging duplicate records, removing, or archiving redundant data, adhering to GDPR protocols.

Finance Administration (Training will be provided):

• Efficiently process and reconcile incoming donations, received daily by post, online and phone. Bank cheques and cash on a weekly basis, and process credit card and CAF donations.
• Record all donations to Salesforce, ensuring the accurate coding of income to the correct source and supporter.
• Administer new Direct Debit instructions.
• Support monthly and quarterly reports demonstrating fundraising income received against budget, to inform the management team and provide accurate forecasting.
• Scan and upload credit card statements and invoices for payment by the Finance team.
• Record and reconcile petty cash expenditure.
• Assist the Finance team in the reconciliation of all income received, responding to any queries.

General Office Administration:

• Order office stationery and fundraising supplies, as required.
• Co-ordinate general office maintenance, as required.
• Arrange accommodation for staff travel to Shrewsbury.

• Relevant qualifications from a Further Education Institution or equivalent office/administration experience in a busy environment, preferably in fundraising or marketing.
• Excellent planning, administrative, organisational and time management skills, to deliver and cope with a busy workload.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent keyboard and numeracy skills, with a high-level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office package, especially Excel.

About the Role

There are 1.4 million primary-aged children growing up in poverty in the UK, and we are currently only working with a fraction of them. We have grown rapidly over the last few years and are now looking to recruit a Fundraising Manager who can help take our fundraising work to the next level.

The Fundraising Manager will work with the team to drive Learning with Parents’ fundraising strategy. Their primary focus will be on strengthening our existing corporate partnerships pipeline, and managing new and existing corporate relationships. They will continue to develop and adapt the Learning with Parents proposition for corporate partnerships ensuring partnerships deliver mutual benefits and maximise impact on our shared mission. 

The Fundraising Manager will also support our work with High Net Worth Individuals and Trust and Foundations. Their responsibilities will also include line management of our Fundraising and Operations Officer to achieve their aims and objectives.

The Fundraising Manager will represent Learning with Parents at external fundraising and networking events to raise our profile, build relationships and promote parental engagement in the charitable and education sectors.

Areas of Responsibility

Building a pipeline of corporate partners

• Working closely with Learning with Parents’ CEO and COO, research, qualify and prioritise prospects to create a buoyant pipeline.

• Maintain and update the prospect pipeline. 

• Engage with and cultivate potential corporate partners to develop meaningful collaborations with shared goals.

Stewarding new and existing funders

• Writing and submitting applications to corporate foundations and other trusts and foundations.

• Manage and steward Learning with Parents’ corporate partners, trust and foundations and other donors.

• Fulfil any donor due diligence requirements. 

• Draft compelling update reports and other written materials as required.

Feeding into the fundraising strategy 

• Input into Learning with Parents’ fundraising strategy.

• Feed into discussions around what the Fundraising team should look like as the organisation grows.

Responding to new opportunities

• Engage with new fundraising opportunities such as Awards and connections with High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs). 

• Develop and adapt Learning with Parents’ proposition for corporate partners, ensuring partnerships deliver mutual benefits and maximise impact of our shared mission. 

• Represent Learning with Parents at external fundraising and networking to raise our profile.

• Update Learning with Parents’ case for support and other fundraising resources to meet new funding needs and opportunities.

Line Management

• Directly line manage Learning with Parents’ Fundraising and Operations Officer to achieve their goals and objectives.

About You 

Experience within a similar role, or within the charity sector, would be great. However, we know that a lot of the most important skills in this role are transferable from jobs in other sectors, such as relationship development, account management and business development. We want the right person and we will invest in training the right candidate as necessary.

UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD - Senior Fundraising Executive 
known at Oxford as 'Senior Development Executive - Medical Sciences (Neuroscience)'.

We are looking for an experienced fundraiser, to lead on Neuroscience related fundraising for the Departments of Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences as part of the friendly team working across the Medical Sciences Division at the University of Oxford.

The Medical Sciences Division at Oxford has been ranked number one in the world for the last twelve years in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for clinical, pre-clinical and health sciences. Recent accomplishments of the Medical Sciences Division include its research into the COVID-19 pandemic, most notably through the delivery of the Oxford–AstraZeneca vaccine, which is estimated to have saved over 6 million lives.

About the role:

This fundraiser will work closely with the Heads of Departments and academics in the Departments of Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences. The post will focus primarily on funding for research, academic posts, scholarships and infrastructure related to Neuroscience which includes Mental Health and neurological disease (e.g. Motor Neurone Disease, Dementia, Parkinson’s, Stroke and Epilepsy). The fundraiser will work on special projects including the possible major capital redevelopment of the Warneford site. While an interest in medical research and neuroscience is essential, you do not need to be a sciences graduate, just an enthusiast for knowledge.

You are an experienced development professional with a strong track record of securing major gifts, a confident approach and the ability to think creatively. You will lead on major gift fundraising (£100k-£1m+) working with a range of donors (corporates, trusts and individuals).

This role will work closely with the Head of Support Services supporting our volunteers and wider community through a range of services and events. 

You’ll work with our incredible volunteers to support others living with conditions and raise awareness and understanding of our work.  You will recruit and support people to engage in volunteering in the way that best suits them.

Alongside this you will undertake administrative work to ensure the smooth running of Support Services, and deliver our flagship in person events.

Role Description

Volunteers

o Working with the CEO and Head of Support Services develop and deliver the Volunteering Strategy for the organisation.

o Work to significantly increase the inclusivity of volunteers and the work done by volunteers.

o Oversee the recruitment of volunteers and ensure appropriate induction in collaboration with relevant staff.

o Deliver mandatory initial and ongoing training for volunteers.

o Working with colleagues, produce and keep up-to-date policies, processes and forms, ensuring volunteers understand and use these resources.

o Provide day-to-day support to volunteers, working closely with the Head of Support Services.

o Manage all volunteer programme communications in collaboration with the Communications Officer including: ebulletins, website, social media and print materials.

o Collect and process feedback and statistics and compile reports on satisfaction and effectiveness as required.

o Provide specific support for volunteering roles including;

Helpline and Telephone Buddies

o Support the transition of the helpline to a new scheme such as our telephone buddy scheme

o Support and review the telephone buddy scheme

o In conjunction with the Head of Support Services, support the implementation and ongoing management of a new Facebook support group

o Collate statistics on helpline calls and report on this monthly.

Local Support Groups

o Support the establishment of online condition specific and new regional groups.

o Undertake visits to Local Support Groups as appropriate.

o Working with the Finance and Operations Manager support the groups to use funds they have raised.

Other Volunteers

o Support Office volunteers in their day to day work, being the first point of contact and allocating tasks.

o Working with the Head of Support Services contribute to the development of the Lived Experience Committee.

o Working with the Head of Fundraising support and engage Ambassador and Fundraising volunteers.

Support Service Coordination

o Ensure the CRM system is up to date with all Support Services information.

o Ensure all statistics relating to Support Services are up to date.

o Ensure Support Services’ phone systems and booked calls are effectively and efficiently set up.

o Ensure accurate record of all research and surveys we are asked to engage in and follow up on outcomes of that research.

o Undertake any small administrative duties as required.

o Where required, provide support in managing the helpline emails.

Support Services Events

o Lead on the development and delivery of three one day conference style events annually.  These will be held throughout the UK and will offer panel discussions and networking for our community. 

o In partnership with the wider team, occasionally represent The Foundation by running information stands, coordinating volunteers and preparing information for external events such as industry conferences.

o Where appropriate attend and present at external meetings.

o Support the management and delivery of the portfolio of online and in person events delivered by the Pituitary Foundation in conjunction with the wider team.

The Individual Giving Officer will play a crucial role in nurturing relationships with individuals, to give their donations and their time, to make a difference to the people with dyslexia that we support.

You will be responsible for creating and implementing strategies to attract, retain, and upgrade individual donors, ensuring a steady and growing stream of funding and support for the charity.

We are a dynamic, growing charity who are committed to further increasing our reach and impact over the next 5 years. Our aim is to double the number of beneficiaries we support, and particularly to assist significantly more people who are from lower-income backgrounds. 

Main duties and responsibilities

· Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with individual donors to maximize financial support and our community of supporters.

· Plan and execute individual giving campaigns, across all available communication channels to engage donors effectively.

· A strong understanding of the importance of knowing your supporter base to maximise income through effective donor communication and engagement.

· Strong data management and analysis skills

· Good knowledge of current data protection/GDPR regulation.

· Good working knowledge of CRM databases and how to utilise to steward supporters.

· Good level of administrative and organisational competency

· Good IT skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, databases (currently Donorfy and Act!)

·Previous experience working in a charity/non-profit

About the Role

This role is an exciting opportunity to work for Mind BLMK as part of the Fundraising & Engagement Team. Acting as the first point of contact for all Fundraising & Comms enquiries and in line with Mind BLMK’s Fundraising and Communications Strategy, this is a busy role and will require excellent stewardship and donor care skills as well as meticulous organisation and innovative thinking. Key Duties
