Purpose of Post: to provide strategic oversight and management of the Muslim Hands Education and Orphan Sponsorship portfolio. To ensure Muslim Hands programmes are meeting the needs of the communities we serve and benefit from wider learning from the sector.
Role Overview:
The Head of Education will ensure the implementation of the MH Programmes Strategy within the Education and Sponsorship portfolio.
The Head of UK Education will report to the Director of Programmes and will manage the Education and Sponsorship teams.
The candidate will have demonstrable experience of successful delivery of international education programmes and project management.
Main Responsibilities:
- Strategy
- To ensure that the MH Programmes Strategy and theory of change for MH education programmes aligns with and in support of MH’s global strategy.
- Carry out regular performance and annual review of education programmes based on strategic aims and KPIs
- Programme Management
- Review proposals of proposed interventions to ensure innovative projects and programmes are designed adhering to sectoral standards, principles in accordance with guideline on humanitarian interventions and best practice
- Effectively coordinate and liaise with partners to ensure education sector good practices are utilised in MH education programmes
- Ensure the successful implementation of project cycle management tools within MH education and sponsorship programmes.
- Ensure MH education programmes are in line with sector and international standards on programme quality
- Support the current education MEAL frameworks and tools and ensure effective programme oversight
- Ensure the programme is in line with MH policies and procedures
- Ensure all programmes are in line with due diligence, risk procedures etc.
- Finance and compliance
- To ensure effective implementation of projects through progress and financial reporting
- Ensure the MH education programmes meet local and international compliance requirements
- Ensure documents and relevant procedures are correctly and appropriately applied.
- Networking and Influencing
- To significantly raise the profile and visibility of MH education Program
- Represent MH on national and regional platforms. To develop understanding, support and to work in collaboration with education focused organisations
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure the internal visibility of MH programmes
- Capacity Strengthening
- Provide insight into education trends to all relevant internal stakeholders and become a champion for education programmes internally and externally
- Build on current trends such as Education in Emergencies, education partnerships, programmes knowledge and awareness to improve quality of MH education programmes
- Ensure the vision, values and aim of the programme continue to be embedded in all areas of work and are clearly communicated internally and externally.
- Ensuring areas of MH are in line with current education programmes trends
- Ensure the capacity MH education programmes are reviewed and developed through teacher training programmes, infrastructure reviews, curriculum planning etc.
- To work closely with colleagues and partners with relevant technical expertise to ensure (planning, monitoring, fundraising, M&E and governance and other appropriate support is available for programmes.
- Communication and Marketing
- To provide key case studies to the Communication department in Fundraising to create further opportunities by highlighting key stories, which heighten the awareness of the education and sponsorship programmes.
- Provide all relevant education and sponsorship updates to the Communication department via the programmes reporting officer, including producing quarterly reports for them to share updates with our donors.
- To undertake all tasks and duties in an effective, efficient, transparent, and wholly accountable manner

Set up, management and optimisation of social media ad campaigns.
Close monitoring and refinement of in-progress campaigns.

Our partnership of existing Teaching Schools and Multi Academy Trusts, has just been awarded the status as national Teaching School Hub, led by the Flying High Trust with Flying High Academy, Ladybrook identified as the lead school. The Flying High Teaching School Hub will work across Mansfield, Ashfield, Broxtowe, Nottingham City and Rushcliffe, bringing the expertise of partners together to ensure we recruit, develop, and retain high quality teachers across this locality. The Director of the Teaching School Hub will be a skilled strategist, partnership leader and visionary, who will drive the development of this brand-new initiative. This opportunity will enable the successful candidate to work at a trust, regional and national level.
The role of the new Teaching School Hub builds upon an existing infrastructure and a track record of successful leadership across the system. As Director of Teaching School Hub, you will draw upon this significant expertise and capacity, to deliver this new initiative.
Leading the Teaching School will be Flying High Trust, a growing partnership of 28 schools, with a national reputation and ethos centered on putting children at the heart of every decision. Working alongside Flying High, we have an established partnership in place with Transform, Redhill, and Discovery Multi Academy Trusts.
The designation of existing Teaching schools will be removed at the end of this academic year, to be replaced by the new Teaching School Hubs. At the heart of Flying High, and across our partnership, is a group of existing teaching schools that have built the expertise and the capacity to drive teacher development.
Finally, as part of Flying High and this established partnership, we have a successful English Hub and developed Inspiring Leaders, which operates an outstanding SCITT (teacher training) and delivers NPQs, working at scale and with a strong reputation.
You will enable the practitioner expertise across the system to meet the needs of our teachers. Our ambition is to ensure that every child has a great teacher, who inspires and unlocks their potential. The post will bring together the skill set of an experienced strategic leader, with a passion to impact children’s lives and a detailed understanding of the educational landscape. We will welcome applications from both experienced practitioners and non- practitioners, as key to this role will be your ability to enable the system, so it is not a necessity to have classroom experience.

The role
We are looking for a senior co-ordinator to work as part of a small team based across Derby and parts of Derbyshire. Responsibilities include assessing families and young children’s needs and matching them to volunteers. Supervising, training & supporting volunteers. Liaising with referrers and delivering input to young children and families through scheduled group work and home visiting. As the senior coordinator you will also have a role in caseload management and take a lead on our South Derbyshire operation. A driving license and the willingness to make regular travel for work is a necessity.
The candidate
We want to hear from you if you have parenting experience and an understanding of family’s needs and children’s early years’ development. A sound knowledge of safeguarding practise, ability to work under own initiative, able to motivate others and confident IT skills are expected.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Regional Coordinator – Central England to join our team. This role will be home based but you will be required to travel to meetings in the community or to deliver services at various locations. You will join us on either a full time (37.5 hours per week) or part time (30 hours per week) permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £24,000 per annum full time equivalent (£19,200 for 30 hours), depending on experience plus benefits.

As our Regional Coordinator – Central England you will actively engage with the local deaf community through outreach support and by providing accessible opportunities to participate in consultation events, new services and to deliver sessions that deaf people may want and need. You will support our growth ambitions and undertake scoping activity to identify and network with specialist providers and other deaf organisations to establish key partnerships in line with our objectives and local government priorities.
What we’re looking for in our Regional Coordinator – Central England:
- Willing to attend training and commitment to CPD
- Must be a native user of BSL (British Sign Language) or minimum Level 2 – this is essential!
- Must be a car owner/driver
- Experience of working with deaf people (adults/ older people, children or young people)
- Knowledge of the difficulties and barriers facing deaf people and associated challenges
- Understanding of deaf culture
- Experience of working to project outcomes/targets
