This is an exciting opportunity to join the Chester Diocesan Education team, in leading the strategic development of the Diocesan Board of Education’s vision for a deep and distinctive Christian distinctiveness, identity and practice in our church schools.  The successful candidate will work alongside the existing Distinctiveness & SIAMS Officer, taking a particular lead in Collective Worship development, as well as supporting and strengthening school to church partnerships.  

This post is ideally suited to an experienced middle or senior leader who can demonstrate a strong personal commitment to promoting education with a Christian purpose, and has proven experience of leading successful professional development within a church school context. 

This is a part-time position for 2 days (14 hours) per week.  The role offers hybrid working that includes working from Church House at Daresbury Park, Warrington, and travel around the Diocese.

The National Youth Agency is looking for a new Policy & Communications Officer to join our Policy & Communication Team.

As the national body for youth work, NYA has a dual function. We are the professional statutory and regulatory body (PSRB) responsible for qualifications, quality standards, and safeguarding for youth work and services in England. In line with our charity mission and aims, we also champion youth work through research, advocacy, campaigns, and programmes.

About the Role
This dynamic role will provide valuable support across all areas of our Policy & Communications Directorate including supporting with policy and public affairs activity, marketing and media activity, and event coordination to advance NYA’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:
Policy and Public Affairs Support:

- Research policy developments and political changes.
- Monitor relevant parliamentary activities and government announcements.
- Compile and analyse data for policy briefs and reports.
- Assist in preparing policy briefings, research summaries, and stakeholder communications.
- Support youth participation activities.

Communications and Marketing Support:

- Draft and edit reports, blogs, social media posts, and web content.
- Handle media requests, research journalists, and draft press releases.
- Monitor social media and create content for awareness campaigns.
- Assist with newsletter and website content and coordinate guest bloggers.

Event & General Support:

- Organise and coordinate meetings, webinars, roundtables, and political conference activities.
- Plan and execute large events, including registration and materials preparation.
- Represent the teams at internal and external meetings.
- Build effective working relationships across the organisation.
- Provide administrative support for the Youth Work Awards, liaising with the judging panel and nominees.

About the role

This is a great opportunity to work within the Stories team at Shelter, recruiting people from within relevant services and outside the organisation to share their experiences to support Shelter’s fundraising, media, services, campaigning, research and brand work. As well as making contact with people willing to share their stories, you’ll be able to listen to someone’s experience and write a summary of their story. The traineeship lasts 15 months and you will receive personalised training and support to help remove some of the barriers that may have prevented you from getting meaningful employment. Once your traineeship is complete, we will support you in securing further employment in the future.

About you

We are looking for people who have lived experience of homelessness/bad housing and overcoming personal challenges and who are passionate about using their own life experiences to help make positive change for others. Good communication skills and the ability to make people feel heard will also be essential. Basic computer skills, e.g. word processing, the internet and email would be useful, but support can be provided. Above all, we need people with a real desire to develop personally and learn new skills.
