About the role:

When a person or their family member sustains a spinal cord injury it is a life changing experience. They can feel very isolated and that no one understands what they’re going through.

Back Up’s mentoring service is there to help. We know that peer support can have a life changing impact and our Mentoring Coordinators are the ones who can facilitate this through matching them with a suitable mentor who will be able to support them over a series of phone calls to reach their goals.

In addition to creating mentoring relationships, as a Mentoring Coordinator you will support mentors and mentees as appropriate, assess mentee suitability and provide support in the process of identifying, recruiting and training new mentors.

Mentoring Coordinators will be motivated to achieve the aims, targets and milestones that have been set in terms of making quality matches and will be comfortable and efficient with data management and GDPR compliance.

Lived experience is an advantage; but most important is your sharing our commitment to transform the lives of everyone affected by spinal cord injury.

Our Muscle Group meetings provide a warm, friendly space for people affected by muscle-wasting and weakening conditions to meet with others in their local area. The groups meet either in person or on Zoom; three meetings per year are held in each of the 14 regions. Muscle Group meetings are a relaxed, confidential forum for people to ask questions, share experiences and learn from guest speakers. They should be fully accessible to all, including family, friends, and carers of those living with conditions.

You will lead on the organisation of these meetings and management of the volunteers who chair them, ensuring throughout that meetings meet the needs of our community.  

You will also support the Volunteer Engagement Manager to ensure that volunteers across the organisation are recruited, trained and managed effectively. Here at MDUK, it’s important that all our volunteers are supported in their roles – this includes an induction process that sets clear expectations and provides the training and resources they need, regular open communication with employees, and opportunities for peer-to-peer volunteer support. Senior Outreach Worker

28 hours per week

We are looking for a Senior Outreach Worker post in North West locality of Westminster to oversee direct case work with families, to support particularly those families identified as being in the greatest need.

You will deliver family support through home visits and one to one meetings. The successful candidate will be responsible for increasing reach and engagement to support participation in activities through the school holidays. You will be responsible for line managing a small team of Outreach Workers, including recruitment, supervisions / appraisals and day to day support of the team.

You will have experience of community and outreach work with diverse communities and of using a wide range of techniques to engage with isolated individuals and communities. We are looking for an experienced Housing Advisor with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is passionate about enabling people to overcome homelessness and poverty.  You will have gained a minimum of two years’ experience of housing advice and casework through paid or other voluntary experience. A legal qualification would be an advantage.

You will be part of a friendly and supportive team of experienced housing advisors and welfare rights specialists.  You will use your in-depth knowledge and experience of providing specialist housing advice to provide a structured information, advice and casework service to clients of the centre in housing law, housing options and aspects of welfare benefits that relate to housing and homelessness. You will manage your own caseload and provide advice, support and training to staff who are not specialists in this area to enable them to assist clients with less complex enquiries.

You will be able to draw on the support offered by colleagues from the Centre’s other teams (Assessment and Advice, Immigration, Employment and Learning, Family Services and Supported Accommodation) to ensure that your clients have access to the help need not only to deal with their immediate housing problem, but also to tackle any underlying issues and to build resilience against similar issues arising again.

Service Manager Responsibilities:

• To become the Ofsted Registered Manager of Crawford House and take overall responsibility for the assessment and support services based at the centre.
• To effectively lead and manage the staff team, and facilitate and empower staff contributions to team discussions, decision-making, day to day work, and the development of the service.
• To take overall responsibility for the centre this includes practice, some administrative and financial responsibilities.
• To ensure a high standard of social work practice in the centre and that staff are clear about their responsibilities and duties.
• To help create and maintain a safe learning environment within the service.

As our Director of Service Transformation, you will lead the exciting next phase of transforming our charity’s services to reach more disabled children, young people and their families. You will be responsible for sourcing and delivering contracts and partnerships essential for the charity’s sustainability by advancing our digital outreach and nurturing new partnerships and securing sustainable funds for innovative models of support. 

What you will be doing as the Director of Service Transformation:

• Lead and execute services strategies and plans that extend and transform the impact and financial sustainability of the charity’s services and support for disabled children, young people and their families. 
• Lead the design, development and sales of innovative new service models and the scaling of existing services.
• Work closely with the other executive directors and leadership team to achieve the generation of an annual financial surplus to reinvest in Kids. 
• Ensure the quality and safe delivery of all Kids’ services. 
• Ensure effective budget management underpins service development and delivery.  Ensure contracts and tenders are commercially negotiated and regularly monitored. Work with colleagues to identify and achieve necessary margins on contracts and projects for financial sustainability. 
• Inspire and lead a high performing services team; support colleagues to test, learn and adapt as the charity evolves and transforms its digital and in-person support offer.
• Be an inspiring, visible and collegiate leader and team player who works across team boundaries to help drive organisational change and nurture colleagues’ ability to perform at their best. 
• Model and lead effective communications with all colleagues that bring to life the charity’s values and behaviours. Support colleagues to ensure Diversity, Equity and Inclusion principles and practice are evidenced in service design and delivery. 
• Act as an ambassador for Kids on key platforms, carrying out media work as required; promote the charity’s products, services and work; and draw from services expertise to influence public policy and legislation relevant to disabled children and their families. 

Essential Criteria – Demonstrated history of leadership in service provision, service evolution, or change management; adeptness in fostering relationships and/or experience in business development/sales.

Job Title:               Hackney Service Engagement Lead 

Salary: £26,000 FTE

Working Hours: 28 – 35 hours per week (12 month contract until 30 June 2025)

Location: Hackney Borough Based with some home working

About us at the NCT

A lot of people know NCT for our antenatal classes, and we want to continue to support as many parents and families as we can to access evidence-based information. But we are also much more than this. We are a charity that campaigns on the issues that matter to parents. We run breastfeeding and infant feeding support, provided by specialist counsellors. We run thousands of free community activities and events across the UK, led by our fantastic volunteers and peers. And we support women and families facing specific challenges, such as social isolation, feeding difficulties or poor mental health.

Our Hackney Parent Support project is commissioned by Hackney Council, to offer infant feeding support across the region in both community and hospital settings and parenting courses for families throughout the Hackney region. The support is delivered by staff and volunteer peer supporters.

We are seeking a capable Service Engagement Lead to manage, coordinate and support both the Infant feeding and Parenting course projects.  This role is split between being out in the community and working from home, it will include regular travel across the Hackney region (expenses will be reimbursed).

About the Role

Working closely with the Hackney Parent Support team, you will be responsible for the service engagement and promotion of our community-based services across Hackney. Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:

· Line managing the paid peer supporters within the Hackney staff team.

· Coordinating and maintaining the active social media and Infant Feeding Services website.

· Advertising volunteering opportunities across varying platforms including social media

· Provide clear guidance and information to potential volunteers on the roles, responsibilities and training requirements. 

· Having a good working knowledge and understanding of the local demographics in the Hackney area and ensuring all support groups are accessible and inclusive.

· Ensure that data collection and feedback is collected in a timely manner in an inclusive way.

· Coordinate and deliver the Equipment Hire Service across the Borough.

You must have good communication skills and be able to build relationships and create a rapport with a wide range of people easily. This is a large project and covers multiple locations so you must be able to confidently prioritise your own work, be highly organised and able to work independently.

Being able to make decisions and respond appropriately to our staff, peer supporters and parents and other external stakeholders is essential, alongside good IT skills– including Outlook, Word and Excel – and you must have good attention to detail.
 
It is essential for this post that you undertake the training to become an NCT Breastfeeding Peer Supporter. This requires breastfeeding experience of at least 3 months. The training can be undertaken within your working hours. There will also be training on the EPEC (Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities course) provided by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a community-based role, travel across Hackney will be required, with some home working.
