Advocacy 1st is a free, independent service provided by advocates who specialise in the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and the Mental Health Act.

Location: Remote based in Oxfordshire

Key duties:

· Recruiting, training and providing ongoing support to volunteers

· Working with the children and young people to assess their service requirements

· Working with stakeholders to raise awareness and recognise and identify care leavers and young people in need of the Independent Visitors and Care Leavers service

· Looking at opportunities to engage and work with services to identify care leavers and independent visitors

· Reporting and discussing all safeguarding concerns with the service manager

· Completing initial assessments and matching volunteers to young people

· Raising the profile of the Independent Visitors and Care Leavers service

Katherine Low Settlement is a charity that has been serving Battersea and the wider Wandsworth community since 1924. We are dedicated to building stronger communities and enable people to challenge and find ways out of poverty and isolation.

Katherine Low Settlement’s work with older people

Katherine Low Settlement has worked with older people since its conception in 1924.They are a core part of the community that we continue to work with. We provide, often in partnership, a range of projects and activities for older people including health and wellbeing; creative arts; intergenerational work; connecting people and trips/outings. Our services include an Older People's Lunch Club, Contact Club, T’ai Chi for Elders, exercise and social sessions, and support online.

We work with older people to:

• Encourage active and independent living

• Reduce isolation and loneliness

• Improve well-being and prevent ill-health

• Enable older residents to be dynamic and contributing members of the Wandsworth community.

Key Objectives for the Elders Core Service Manager Role:

1. Team Leadership: Lead a team of dedicated part-time paid staff and volunteers, including a cook, support worker, minibus driver, and sessional workers.
2. Day-to-Day Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Elders Core Service, including the lunch club, transport, social sessions, and overseeing the one-to-one work of the core team.
3. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the wider team to provide a hands-on program that builds on older people's strengths and potential.
4. Monitoring and Evaluation: Support the monitoring and evaluation of the project in collaboration with the Head of Programme.
5. Budget Management: Ensure the program operates within budget constraints.
6. Member Engagement: Support the planning of the core program with input from elder members and the wider team.
7. Recruitment and Support: Recruit and support new and existing members (service users).

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Delivery

• Planning and Oversight: Ensure that all service output aligns with KLS' vision, mission, values, and charitable objectives. Organize and promote one-off activities throughout the year.
• Transport Management: Manage the transport offer, including route planning and pick-up schedules.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate activity records, registers, and casework notes for the core team.
• Outreach and Support: Conduct outreach work with older people in the community, oversee home visits, and manage a small caseload.

2. Staff and Volunteer Management

• Recruitment and Line Management: Recruit and manage the Outreach and Support Workers, Lunch Club Cook, and relevant social activities workers and volunteers.
• Performance Management: Use performance management and quality systems to monitor and evaluate the project's work and processes.

3. Relationships, Communication, and Networks

• Member Engagement: Build and sustain strong relationships with elder members.
• Communication: Oversee communication for the Core Programme, including newsletters, activities calendar, annual reports, and social media platforms.
• Meetings: Attend meetings on behalf of the Core Programme as required.

4. Finance

• Budget Management: Manage project areas to budget and maintain financial records as agreed with the Head of Programme.

5. Other Duties

• Professional Development: Participate in regular management supervision and annual appraisal. Identify job-related development and training needs.
• Professional Conduct: Professionally undertake roles, maintaining a high-quality standard of work in line with KLS's aims, values, and ethos.

Role Description

As Volunteer Programmes Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing the successful delivery of projects in the Decorate A Child's Life (DACL) and Adventure Play Partnership (APP) volunteering programmes. Your role will include  managing the day-to-day operations for Volunteer Programmes, oversight of programme coordination,  reviewing and updating procedures on a rolling basis and keeping good records, including financial monitoring and collecting impact data for regular reporting. This role may at times include attending site visits to scope projects, and leading and supervising groups of volunteers during project installations. 

You will work closely with fundraising colleagues to match partners/corporate volunteer groups to projects, and from time to time you’ll contribute to scoping new opportunities to adapt our offer for potential partnership pitches. Our Corporate Partnerships Manager will be a key colleague, as you’ll work together to plan and organise volunteering opportunities and to plan and implement a high-quality volunteer experience that ultimately helps the charity to secure income generation corporate partnerships. You’ll need to take a lead role in monitoring and reporting on progress, including the expenditure budget for project delivery, the level of delivery and the capturing of feedback from both beneficiaries and volunteers.

 As a Lead Literacy Workshop Facilitator, you will deliver dynamic literacy workshops to children and young people in East London schools. Established in 2013, the United Kingdom and Europe World Literacy Foundation have been dedicated to building strong communities through literacy and education. In 2018, UK Reads was introduced to provide literacy support through distributing books and resources nationwide while delivering author-led workshops to children to inspire the next generation of readers who lacked resources and opportunities to develop and excel. Additionally, UK Reads works to facilitate a global pen pal project, inspiring young writers and offering them a platform to connect, fostering cultural awareness and enhancing writing skills.

About the Project

UK Reads: Literacy Impact East London specifically  focus on children and young people aged 11-18 years. The project is designed to reach young people from diverse, low-income backgrounds and ethnic minorities. We have observed that approximately 85% of our beneficiaries come from low-income families, 10% of our users are students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), reflecting the diverse range of learners we aim to support. Additionally, 45% of our beneficiaries come from Black minority communities, highlighting the importance of promoting inclusivity and addressing potential disparities in literacy outcomes.

We acknowledge that low literacy rates often vary through boroughs and are committed to reaching the most underserved, underrepresented, and marginalised young people across East London. We collaborate with schools and community organisations to implement a tailored intervention that addresses the specific needs of each group, offering a diverse range of services to expedite the development of foundational literacy skills.

The Huntington's Disease Association is a UK registered charity that supports people affected by Huntington's disease across England and Wales. We provide information, advice and support to families, friends, and healthcare professionals.

We are looking for an experienced Volunteer Manager to support and inspire those who volunteer for the charity. You will lead them in line with the vision, mission and values of the charity and work to fulfil the goals of our strategic plan. You will strengthen our current volunteering strands with effective governance and great communication and will develop new volunteering opportunities within the charity.

You will manage our volunteer-led Branches and Support groups who offer peer support, fundraising opportunities and activities locally. You will also manage HD Voice, our panel of volunteers, who contribute to the internal development of the charity and ensure that the voice of the Huntington’s community is at the heart of research into the condition.

You will co-ordinate all aspects of the volunteer journey from recruitment, selection, induction, training and ongoing support and develop effective policies, procedures and guidance for volunteers as well as developing an effective monitoring and evaluation process.

We are looking for someone with strong volunteer management skills who has experience of training volunteers and of writing policies, procedures and guidance in line with data protection guidance. There will be regular evening and weekend work as many of our volunteers work themselves so need the support out of office hours. There will be a need for travel across England and Wales.

About you

We are looking for a highly motivated individual, with an understanding of dementia, and the needs of those affected with these conditions. We are looking for someone who is approachable and knowledgeable to join our knowledgeable and passionate team. Our Dementia Adviser’s support people in their homes we interact face to face, over the telephone and virtually, to give people the tools and knowledge to make informed decisions about their future. As a community-based worker, you will be required to attend a range of meetings, appointments and venues as well as working from home.  

You will;

- It is desirable that you have knowledge and experience of Adult and Children Safeguarding, Information Governance policies and procedures and statutory laws such as the Mental Capacity Act

Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP), a division of Richmond Fellowship since 2018, has been a leading provider of Respect accredited community perpetrator interventions working to stop domestic violence, increase safety for women and children, and reduce harm to families for over 30 years.

In your role you will need an excellent understanding of the nature of domestic abuse/violence and its effects on women and children. You will have relevant experience of providing one-to-one and/or group-work behavioural change interventions, responding robustly and supportively to challenging and harmful behaviour with adults from diverse backgrounds to reduce risk and facilitate change. You will have an excellent understanding of Safeguarding procedures and be confident working both independently and as part of a team, working closely and collaboratively alongside partner agencies such as Victim/Survivor services, Children and Families Services, Offender Management services and more.

You will have opportunity to play a key role in DVIP’s violence prevention services, working in partnerships with a range of statutory and voluntary agencies to deliver effective community responses to domestic abuse, in line with RESPECT practice standards. You will be responsible for risk-managing a caseload of domestic abuse perpetrators, delivering intensive interventions on a one-to-one basis, as well as co-delivering structured group programmes for individuals who have been abusive towards an (ex)partner or family member. You will pro-actively engage those using abuse, conduct interviews to assess risk and suitability for intervention, and coordinate with relevant professional partners to increase safety to victims and children. Day to day, you will work flexibly across a number of locations, including regular days working co-located within Local Authority Children and Families Services, Offender Management services, Substance Misuse services, Health services or other relevant or referring services.  In this rewarding role you will also provide specialist DA support to other professionals working with families experiencing abuse, through provision of expert consultations and training delivery. 

You will be competent and responsible to work independently and flexibly, including some evenings, within any London Borough where DVIP is contracted (predominantly South London currently), for part of the working week.  You will be comfortable managing your own workload and related admin, and you will be able to communicate clearly with a range of people about sensitive and complex issues, including the writing of professional reports.

About the role:

You will lead and support a team of Homicide Family Caseworkers to meet VS and Homicide Service standards and contractual requirements. You will be able to demonstrate the excellent organisational skills essential to managing a demanding and diverse workload and will have experience of achieving key performance indicators, as set by the Operation managers and Deputy Head of Service.

We pride ourselves on providing exceptional trauma informed advocacy and support to all service users and you will have an understanding of the impact that trauma and bereavement can have on individuals. We support staff to keep them safe within their role and you will lead on the importance of personal and professional resilience and wellbeing for the team.

You will have excellent communication skills and will support the Operation Managers to maintain the highest standards of service delivery, across a widely geographically dispersed team. You will be prepared to travel across the geographical area including occasional overnight stays to ensure you can meet team members in person as well as online. A driving license and use of a car are both essential as well as access to public transport. You will be reimbursed for all travel costs.

You will also enjoy working closely with a range of stakeholders (including Police Family Liaison Officers and Senior Investigation Officers within the Major Crime teams) and will have experience in building constructive working relationships, focused on delivering the best service for vulnerable service users. You should be a confident presenter, and able to share the service and work we do to inform, educate and encourage notifications and referrals into the service.

CVAA UK is a membership organisation supporting not-for-profit organisations across the UK who specialise in adoption services. Over 3000 children in the UK need adoption each year because they cannot remain at home or with family members. The CVAA Practice Programme delivers 30 or more online courses each year to those working in the sector, primarily social workers. The programme has developed a strong reputation for attracting a range of subject experts to deliver cost effective, engaging and useful training. Due to a restructure of the team, we are now looking for a Training Manager who can oversee the delivery of the programme from mid to late July 2024. Initially fixed term, it is anticipated that this post will become permanent.

The Training Manager will work with the Head of Practice Development and the Programme Administrator to ensure that the courses are full, delivered effectively and evaluated. Part of the role will also be to source new trainers and support the creation of the programme into 2025.

The CVAA team work remotely across the UK so location of the postholder is not a barrier to recruitment as long as long as they can travel occasionally and come into London for team days. The team is small, diverse and dynamic. Experience of project management or delivery of training or events is more important than knowledge of adoption or children's social care.
