About the Role

This is a dual-role position supporting both the Finance and HR functions of the charity. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting budget management, and ensuring smooth day-to-day HR operations. Flexibility

Our staff who live in or near London operate on a hybrid model, working in our office within South Bank University (one minute from Elephant and Castle tube station) on Mondays and Tuesdays. Full-time staff work in the office both those days and at home the rest of the week, while part-time staff who live in or near London are required to work in the office on one of those days, and at home for the rest of the week. We also have staff outside London who are fully home-based. What’s the role about?

This is a great opportunity to join us as the new Chief Finance Officer. As the Depaul Group continues to experience growth and increases its impact, you’ll lead the effective financial and governance support provided by DPI to its subsidiaries. We’re looking for a Carer Assessment Service Manager to lead our countywide team in delivering statutory and preventative assessments in line with the Care Act 2014. The A B Charitable Trust exists to promote human dignity and defend the human rights of the most marginalised and excluded people. Our approach is founded on liberal principles of universalism and human rights. We believe in justice, not charity. Our journey

The Trust was founded 35 years ago to promote and defend human dignity. Since then, we have given over £47m to organisations, and this year we will spend some £10m. We have significantly increased our grantmaking over recent years and intend to continue on a trajectory of growth. This role will join us as we look to the longer term future and begin to develop a new strategy that will build on all that is being achieved through our current strategy, which ends in 2027. 

We are excited by the future and are fortunate to have a modest but growing budget which is expected to reach £15m by 2027. But we are realistic about the challenges involved. About the role and you

The key purpose of this role is to:

• Effectively manage a portfolio or grants across all of our priority areas
• Work closely with the team, grant holders and Board members, developing strong and supportive working relationships
• Contribute to the development of our new strategy and be committed to our values and share our aspirations around best grantmaking practice

The new Grants Manager will need to be genuinely interested in grantmaking in our priority areas and will have the curiosity to learn and develop new areas of knowledge and expertise. You will need to be able to demonstrate a passion for the work of small, grassroots organisations, have emotional intelligence and strong communications skills, and also be genuinely excited about joining our team. 

This could be the right opportunity for a range of potential candidates. We value the knowledge and expertise gained through lived experience of social injustice alongside sector experience. We’re not looking for a seasoned grant maker but you will need to bring commitment to our work and vision, demonstrate experience of seeking to bring about change on tough issues, and have experience of one or more of our priority areas.

Job Title: Volunteer Manager

Location: Based in our central office in Islington (10 minute walk from Highbury and Islington station). You will work in a hybrid approach including regular service visits, office days, and home working. 

Salary: £37,000

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:30. You may be required to work outside these hours as per requirements of the role.

About the role

This is a new role at SIG, thus a great opportunity to join our team in supporting with and managing the delivery and implementation of our National Volunteering Strategy. This role plays a pivotal role in shaping and producing a strategy which empowers leaders across the organisation to actively recruit, engage and retain volunteers within their services. You will develop and implement a volunteering strategy which is fit for use, realistic and transferrable throughout the organisation, with a structured programme which ensures a positive volunteer experience. 

• Lead the co-creation of the organisation’s National Volunteering Strategy in collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders.
• Define clear goals, priorities, and success measures for volunteering across the organisation.
• Develop a clear roadmap for implementation of a volunteer strategy, ensuring alignment with the Group’s wider mission and values.
• Work collaboratively with various teams from operations, people and culture, marketing, finance, and other central teams to support the strategy.
• Design and implement a consistent volunteer recruitment, onboarding and induction process, and manage the sharing of information across the organisation.
• Create and manage volunteer hiring workflows, and ensure these are fit for purpose, and that they align with wider strategies, and system implementation.
• Consult and engage with managers on a regular basis to fully understand and identify volunteering needs across services and co-design a diverse range of volunteer roles that add value and reflect local priorities.

About you

We are looking for a proactive individual with a passion for advocating volunteering opportunities and early careers. You will be dedicated to bring new opportunities and drive meaningful change. You will have experience in volunteer management, with the understanding of what it entails, what our obligations are, and the difference between employment and volunteers. You will be driven to have the opportunity to create a process which is new to the organisation, and be self driven to learn as you go, as well as share your personal experience and expertise with others.

• Proven experience in developing or managing volunteer programmes, including recruitment, engagement and retention strategies  
• Ability to design and implement strategies, with a clear understanding of how to align volunteering initiatives with organisational needs
• In depth understanding of volunteering programmes and the knowledge, skills and ability to create role profiles for volunteers
• Ability to build local networks and relationships locally and nationally, and utilise platforms available, including new ones to share opportunities available
• Ability to think creatively to improve processes
• Proactiveness and outgoing approach to work, ability to use initiative to resolve challenges
• Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment
• Attention to detail and quality, with organisation skills
