This role represents a significant investment in that infrastructure. You will be joining a small but highly capable operations team and playing a central role in how FEA manages and understands its finances as it grows. You will work closely with relevant members of the senior leadership team and colleagues across the organisation.
The Management Accountant plays a central role in ensuring that the Fair Education Alliance’s finances are accurate, well managed and clearly understood across the organisation. Working as part of the operations team, the postholder maintains the financial systems and processes that underpin FEA’s work. This includes overseeing day-to-day finance operations, producing reliable management accounts, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and ensuring that financial records meet charity accounting and regulatory requirements.
The Management Accountant also acts as a trusted financial partner to colleagues across the organisation. By providing clear, accessible financial information and helping budget holders understand their resources, the role enables confident decision-making by the senior leadership team and trustees. Through careful financial stewardship, strong attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement, the Management Accountant helps ensure that FEA remains financially resilient and able to deliver its mission to create a fairer education system.

The Role
As the Financial Controller, you will report to the Finance & HR Director and support the Finance & HR Director in leading day-to-day financial operations, taking ownership of transactional accounting and month-end reconciliations. You’ll maintain the general ledger, ensure data integrity across systems, and manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control functions. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the month-end reconciliation process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including credit control activities, with support from the Assistant Finance Manager.

Purpose of the post
The Financial Planning & Analysis Manager will support the Associate Director of Finance to provide insightful analysis of financial trends and oversee the recoverability of funds.
They will coordinate the month-end process and work with Finance Business Partners to coordinate the quarterly forecast and the 2026/27 budget.

The Role

Finance Management
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.

- Ensure monthly reconciliation of all control accounts including creditors, debtors, payroll and banks; the preparation of monthly management accounts; and preparation/maintenance of control over all non-transactional journals such as accruals, prepayments, fixed assets/depreciation.
- A sound understanding of Islamic financial principles and their application within a charitable and governance context.
- Lead the strategic financial planning process, delivering annual and forecast budget plans, periodic forecasts within year and funding requirements, working closely with CEO and SMT.
- Plan and coordinate all tax, finance and treasury management practice and policy, with reference to charitable status, cash management and investments, reviewing and reporting on investment portfolios on a monthly basis.
- Ensure monthly payroll is accurate and timely, including all matters related to HMRC, and PAYE submissions.
- Have a full oversight of contracting and procurement activities and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, always seeking value for money, and where possible, cost saving opportunities.
- Check the condition of all assets and conduct an ongoing review of whether assets and investments are being put to best use and serving the organisation’s interests.
- Work with the CEO to identify new revenue-generating tactics.
- Responsible for the preparation of annual accounts to prescribed standards, managing effective relationships with the auditors, taking responsibility for the completion and submission of statutory/regulatory reporting in line with prescribed timelines, and keeping up to date with regulatory and statutory requirements within the charity sector.
- Lead on The Charity Commission reporting, including the annual review/trustee report and updating the organisation’s information held by The Charity Commission and Companies House.
Operational Excellence
- Review and improve organisational processes across ELMT, including Operations, Facilities, HR and Policy, ensuring they are efficient, effective and aligned with best practice.
- Identify and propose practical improvements to systems, policies and ways of working, driving internal efficiency and increasing organisational impact.
- Ensure alignment between systems, policies and processes, enabling departments to work effectively together and supporting ELMT’s strategic objectives.
- Over time, take on broader responsibility across departments, particularly in strengthening processes and embedding sustainable efficiencies.
Information Technology Management
- Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management, including Data Protection and Cyber Security.

For a charity in London, we're recruiting an interim Head of FP&A for a 6-month contract. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Head of FP&A will manage a small team and will have leadership of the internal reporting processes, providing strategic advice to the SMT, and lead a continuous improvement programme. The Head of FP&A will design, implement, and stabilise finance processes across planning and forecasting, performance reporting, KPI management, capital and cash management, cost analysis, and process improvement.
Main Duties:
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting cycles
- Own the monthly performance management process and lead presentations of financial results with the Executive Board
- Define and report on performance and Finance team KPIs
- Lead the financial reporting requirements for external Grant and Donor Funders
- Oversee capital management and maintain robust rolling cash flow planning and reporting

Duties and key responsibilities
Financial Administration and Bookkeeping
- Maintain up-to-date records in Sage 50.
- Import weekly transactions through Sage Bank Feeds.
- Process purchase invoices, card transactions, and payments, ensuring correct coding to nominal and departmental ledgers.
- Import bank receipts into Sage from Raiser’s Edge NXT.
- Maintain the card transaction spreadsheet and ensure receipts are collected.
- Generate sales invoices and support credit control activities.
- Assist with posting routine month-end journals as directed.
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations for review by the Senior Finance Officer.
- Work with the Database Officer to reconcile income between Sage 50, the income spreadsheet and Raiser’s Edge NXT.
- Maintain organised financial files to support monthly reporting and the year-end audit.
- Assist with tracking restricted income and expenditure as required.
- Paying cheques and cash into the bank account in a timely manner.
Support to the Finance Team

The role
Operating within the Finance and Performance Directorate, as Head of Financial Planning and Analysis, you will lead the Finance Business Partner and Senior Management Accounts team. You will develop the financial planning and analysis capabilities of the team that will better support financial decision making across the organisation and effective risk management. You will lead on The National Archives' financial planning through Spending Reviews and Fiscal Events; ensuring these are reflected and managed internally through budgets, efficiencies and multi-year business planning.
Other responsibilities include:
