Sibling Arts C.I.C. co-creates multi-arts projects with queer, trans, sex worker & migrant communities. Looking for a Finance & Administration Officer (FAO to lead on our financial and administrative needs, and grow with us as we do more ambitious projects with social impact at their core.

Our current projects:

• Delivering trans/non-binary hxstory via storytelling to young people KS3 & teacher training

• Organising an Arts Action Fair connecting grassroots artists, frontline campaigns, NGOs, demonstrating how community ownership makes better art

• Building on the success of our beloved musical theatre production Sex Worker's Opera to create a full-length feature film, branching into new artistic territory with new communities.

We are looking for a skilled, dynamic and conscientious individual to lead on our financial and administrative needs, and work with us to grow our organisation.

You will be one of four core staff roles in the organisation. After the first year there may be space for role to develop and expand.

You will lead on financial management, working closely with Directors to develop and execute a comprehensive financial strategy.

The role will also feature core administrative tasks, ensuring the smooth running of the organisation across contracting, insurance, monitoring equipment/assets and saving costs.

We are looking for someone excited to be part of an ambitious over-achieving, under-recognised young organisation in the arts.

Contract: Minimum 9 months, starting July 15th, with view to become permanent

Hours: Part time 2 days per week

Salary: £135 per day, £1,170/mo at £35k pro rata

Location: Stamford Hill office 1 day a week, remote other

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Financial Strategy and Management

• Co-creating and monitoring budgets, org-wide and for projects

• Monitoring multiple income streams inc. sales, grants, investments

• Co-designing core/project accounting ledgers to facilitate reporting and monitor metrics

• Streamlining and automating systems, training staff in how to use them

• Support the process of becoming a C.I.O. and adapting finance and reporting systems for new level of requirements

• Managing cashflow and reserves to manage risk.

Reporting

• Reporting to HMRC, Companies House and the Charity Commission

• Liaising with our accountant to get the best systems in place for ease and accuracy of reporting and accounting

• Reporting to multiple funders with different priorities and expense restrictions

• Creating an automated financial reporting system that tracks costs across core, projects, and different funding streams for each

• Overseeing compliance with HMRC including VAT, PAYE and accessing tax benefits such as Theatre Tax Relief (TTR) alongside our accountant.

Administration

• Compiling and digitising receipts and invoices

• Setting up staff and project producer expense accounts where necessary

• Liaising with banking and ensuring staff access to online and card payment

• Creating and using new reference administrative reference systems and filing systems.

Human Resources

• Communicating with our community members, artists and staff about invoicing requirements and payment details, mindful of individuals’ complex needs

• Overseeing setup and budgeting of employment benefits, bonuses, commission, freelance contracts and how to integrate these

• Overseeing creation of a platform for communicating financials transparently to our community of marginalised artists (longer term)

Funding Support

• Note: this is a support role as one of the Artistic Directors will spearhead new funding applications, you will not be applying independently

• Researching and identifying new funding streams, archiving applications, making templates

• Seeking advice from current funders and NGO partners about where to apply

• Tracking funding applications, reporting deadlines, meeting financial requirements

• Following-up on investors, scheduling regular communications with Artistic Directors.
   

Essential skills and requirements

• Proficiency with Mac and Windows 

• Right to work in the UK

• Three years’ experience in a similar role, ideally in the charity, arts, or activism sector

• Strong ICT skills including relevant accounting/reporting software and G-Suite

• An excellent eye for detail and consistency

• Experience of payroll processes

• Experience of reporting to funders and HMRC

• Autonomy and ability to work effectively under own initiative

• Strong verbal communications skills, able to convey financial information to a non-financial audience

Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Proficiency with Discord/Slack/Teams/online working systems

• Knowledge of modern accounting platforms such as Xero, Quickbooks and also systems and potential apps for managing staff expenses

Westway Trust is seeking a qualified accountant to join as our Head of Finance who will lead on all aspects of the finance function to achieve the Trusts goals.  You will also manage a small team and will offer strategic finance support across the range of activities undertaken by the organisation.

• Monitor, cash flow, reserves, analysis of performance against the organisation’s annual business plan and dashboard as it relates to the finance function.
• Contribute to the overall leadership of the Trust and to the Trust’s future strategic and operational planning. Support Executive Team colleagues as required on the delivery of cross-team initiatives.
• Line management of the Senior Finance Manager, the Debt Recovery Consultant and the Development Partnerships Lead.

Essential Experience, Skills and Attributes:

• Significant and successful experience of operating as a Head of Finance, ideally in a charity setting.
• A track record of working collaboratively with a team to develop successful internal partnerships and achieve joint success against shared objectives.
• Experience of the finance function and all the associated processes, with strong attention to detail.
• Experience of implementing enhanced reporting tools within financial software, including the ability to coach others.
• Practical knowledge of VAT, including accounting of partial exemption relevant to charities.
• Experience of managing staff and supporting their development.
• Strong interpersonal skills for both workplace and external representation contexts, operating with enthusiasm, flexibility, energy and commitment and demonstrating credibility and gravitas.

The Role

Finance Officer

This is a full time role - Hybrid working with an expectation of weekly attendance to Head Office at Baynards Green, Nr. Bicester Oxfordshire.

Job Purpose:-

We are looking to appoint a Finance Officer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Head of Finance this new role will ensure that appropriate financial processes and systems are followed and developed to support our charity’s sustainable growth and safeguard our financial health.

The Finance Officer will ensure that financial tasks and transactions are undertaken in an efficient, effective and timely manner and, importantly, that relevant financial information is provided to keep the Head of Finance updated and informed, supporting the Leadership Team to make the best decisions for the charity.

We are looking for a confident and experienced individual to join our supportive team. Previous charity finance knowledge is helpful but not essential, above all we want an individual to be tenacious, curious, diligent and show strong initiative.

Who are you?

You should be accomplished in Sage 50 Accounts and have considerable experience working in a finance function and in financial administration.

Some experience of working with Salesforce or an equivalent CRM database and an accountancy qualification or studying towards a professional qualification ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CIPFA) or AAT qualified. Experience of working in the Voluntary Sector, paid or unpaid would be great.

You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills (a natural ability to clearly communicate financial information to those with a non-finance background). You need to have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and experience in database and payroll systems.

It would be amazing for you to have high level of attention to detail and methodical working, be a self-starter and be able to use initiative.

Executive Director

We have an exciting opportunity for an Executive Director to lead a small charity who work within the Jewish community to make it more inclusive of LGBT+ people through education, consultancy and training.

Position: Executive Director

Location: London (King Cross) / Hybrid (minimum one day a week in the office)

Salary: FTE £47,000 to £53,000 per annum depending on experience

Hours: 40 hours flexitime, including a paid hour for lunch each working day. Core hours are 10am-4pm. Will seriously consider applicants requesting 4 days per week or a job-share

About the role:

As Executive Director you will lead a small team – Head of Education (full time), Head of Community Life (full time) and Programme and Volunteer Officer (full time), working with a charity that has a vision of a world where no one is forced to choose between their LGBT+ and Jewish identity.

As the only charity doing this in the UK, the charity works in partnership with communities to identify their goals, then tailor  support so they can achieve them.

Key responsibilities of the Executive Director:

• Delivering the organisation’s priorities as laid out in the 2022-2027 strategy
• Ensuring financial sustainability through devising and executing a fundraising strategy and carefully managing the organisational budget

• Sensitive, compassionate leadership and management of the professional team
• Working in close partnership with the Board of Trustees
• Effective accounting and governance
• Monitoring and managing risk via the risk register and seeking legal advice where necessary
• Managing key stakeholders both internal (e.g. volunteers) and external (e.g. communal partners, the wider LGBT+ sector)
• Being the primary spokesperson and ambassador for the charity

About you:

• The ability to speak and write confidently and authentically about LGBT+ issues
• Strategic leadership, planning and decision-making experience in a commercial, not-for-profit or public service setting
• Line management experience, including the ability to inspire and empower a staff team
• Understanding of the charity and voluntary sector, including the funding environment in which charities operate
• Highly effective relationship-builder across multiple arenas (internal stakeholders, external partners, funders etc)
• Knowledge and experience of strategic planning and business development, including operational planning and delivery management
• Knowledge and working experience of organisational finance and budget planning cycles
• Experience working with, and preferably in, the UK Jewish community
• Positive, problem-solving and solutions-oriented

Although not essential it would also be beneficial if you have some of the following skills / experience:

• Delivering training or education in a Jewish setting
• Experience in fundraising
• Understand and experience in print, social and broadcast media
• Experience working with the LGBT+ community
• Experience in using CRMs such as Salesforce

E3G PROGRAMME FINANCE LEAD, OPERATIONS, LONDON

E3G funding comes from a wide variety of funders around the world. We are looking for a CCAB qualified finance person with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a charity or not-for-profit programme finance context. The role will work with the Chief Financial Officer and Programme Leads to manage our financial relationships with these funders and the end-to-end finance activities across our funders and programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing monthly internal project reporting to project leads.
• Managing external funder reporting and project audits.
• Liasing with project leads and project management team to provide expert advice and ensure compliance with funder regulations across projects.
• Supporting with the development and review of funder budgets for grant proposals.
• Managing staff rate card process for charging out time to funders.
• Managing cash receipts process from funders.

Experience and Skills

The successful candidate will:

• Qualified accountant with a minimum of three years post qualification experience.
• A strong desire to work for a climate change, not for profit organisation is essential. Experience in not-for-profit or charity organisations is essential.
• Strong Excel skills are essential with the ability to work competently with minimum supervision.
• Solid organisational skills and good attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Hybrid Working but ideally at least 2 days per week in the London office.

District Secretary for Administration and Compliance

Robertson Bell are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Finance and Operations to join this small but mighty charity! This pivotal role will provide strategic financial leadership, overseeing financial management, IT systems, and operational efficiency to ensure the financial sustainability and growth of the organisation in alignment with its charitable objectives.

The Director of Finance and Operations will report into the CEO and manage a small team of three. The successful post holder will spend the majority of their time on finance and governance processes and matters as well as holding oversight of the outsourced IT contract acting as the main point of contact.

Duties for this role will include:

• Provide robust financial information for operational management and decision-making.
• Ensure financial sustainability and facilitate growth to further charitable aims.
• Maintain financial probity, controls, and compliance with HMRC and Charity Commission.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting to the Board of Directors and Trustees.
• Manage financial risks and appraise the viability of plans and proposals.
• Ensure effective payroll, pension scheme management, and procurement procedures.
• Lead commercial decisions in collaboration with the CEO.

• Oversee and enhance IT systems to optimize organisational workflow.

This position will be offered on a home working contract however attendance to key meetings will be required. These meetings will happen mostly across London and Birmingham with all  travel expenses paid for. This Director of Finance and Operations will mostly suit candidates that have previously worked in a small sized not for profit organisation.

The successful candidate will:

• Be a fully qualified accountant (CCAB/CIMA/ACCA).
• Be experience managing teams.
• Ideally have proven experience in the charity sector.
• Have the ability to present financial information.
