About the role

University Access Officers are responsible for delivering The Access Project’s high impact mentoring programme to students across our partner schools. This role works with a caseload of students supporting them from the start of Year 10 up to the end of Year 13 to understand the pathway to a top university. 

The role also involves project coordination, working with our schools, volunteers and teams across The Access Project to ensure our young people are fully supported and have the best possible chance of achieving social mobility and enhancing their future prospects.

This role is for a University Access Officer to work across our two schools in Cumbria, The Whitehaven Academy and Workington Academy. Our schools are shown on a map on our website. 

Role responsibilities

• Work directly with young people mentoring a caseload of students in a professional and safe manner.
• Deliver our University Readiness programme through in-depth, targeted 1:1 mentoring sessions with Year 10 to Year 13 students.
• Assess student progress towards being able to make successful university applications.
• Engage with students in school and enrol them onto the programme.
• Match students with volunteer tutors.
• Monitor student attendance to tutorials and devise innovative solutions to encourage attendance.
• Monitor the impact of tutorials and intervene as appropriate.
• Build and manage relationships with volunteer tutors to ensure they have a positive experience of the programme.
• Manage tutor attendance to tutorials through weekly monitoring systems.
• Lead on quality assurance of tuition pairings/grouping completing a caseload of drop ins.  
• Upload information onto the Salesforce database (training is provided).
• Work with school staff to ensure their cooperation and timely completion of activities contributing to the smooth running of the programme.
• Direct enrolled students to appropriate wider enrichment opportunities, encouraging both extra and super-curricular participation and reflection.
• Work with Enrichment & Events team and partner schools to deliver school trips to universities, including trip logistics and leading groups of young people on trip days.
• Lead on all student facing comms.
• Send regular summary updates to school as their key point of contact.
• Present at termly school meetings with Senior Management to report on programme progress.
• Any other responsibilities reasonably deemed necessary by The Access Project’s Programme Managers or Director.

Training and Development

You will be provided with regular monthly training so that you can develop your skills and succeed in the role. There is support and supervision from your line manager (Programme Manager), as well as guidance from Senior University Access Officers and the wider University Access Officer team across The Access Project. There are opportunities for progression, including several additional responsibility roles which are available for University Access Officers to apply for once they have completed their probationary period successfully.

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive person to join our small yet ambitious fundraising and communications team at Cherry Trees as Fundraising Assistant. Whilst support and administration are at the heart of this role, you will play a key role in supporting the team across all fundraising areas and could be a great opportunity for someone looking to take their first steps into fundraising and/or administration. Cherry Trees provides home from home care for children with complex disabilities and a meaningful break for their families across Surrey and the surrounding areas.

Key responsibilities

1. Fundraising

• To be the first point of contact for all fundraising enquiries that come in by telephone, email, post, and in person.
• Support the team by recording and sending fundraising materials to those raising money for us through events and challenge event.
• Ensure communications such as letters, certificates and emails are processed in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Provide support to the events, community, partnerships, and individual giving teams and their programmes of activity.
• To develop a good understanding of fundraising activity and to maintain the processes behind registration and online giving platforms such as JustGiving, Benevity, CAF, MuchLoved etc.
• Monitoring and replenishment of office supplies.
• Help to actively promote participation in our fundraising events and activities.
• When necessary, support the communications team with marketing, social media, mailing activity.
• Other general fundraising and administration duties, as and when required to ensure the smooth running of the department including assisting in other team projects when they arise.

3. Stewardship

• Provide excellent support and stewardship to our supporters, challenge event participants, individual givers, community supporters and volunteers.
• Build, manage and maintain rewarding relationships with existing and new supporters and colleagues and teams across Cherry Trees with a ‘friendly-face’ approach.

4. Information Management and other

• Using the fundraising database (Donorfy) ensure all activity and correspondence is recorded accurately, as well as supporting our team’s financial processes and data export needs (training will be provided).
• Be responsible for ensuring all records are added/maintained/updated on the fundraising database, and ensuring all contact preferences such as unsubscribes are updated accurately and in a timely manner.
• To develop an in-depth knowledge of the database to be the go-to person, and identify opportunities to support your own activity and that of the team.
• Continuously aim to improve the efficiency of administration processes necessary for the smooth running of the fundraising department.
• Create/update how-to guides within your area of responsibility.
• GDPR compliance - ensure supporter data is handled in line with GDPR, maintaining accurate records, respecting communication preferences, and supporting data protection procedures.
• To undertake other reasonable activities as required by your line manager or the Head of Fundraising & Communications.

Overall Purpose of the Community and Events Fundraising Officer

As our Community and Events Officer, you will primarily focus on the expansion and development of our community and events programme.

In September 2024, National Numeracy launched a new ‘Schools & Families’ programme to support Primary School staff, parents and carers in increasing pupils’ confidence with numbers, positive feelings about maths, and awareness of the value of maths outside of the classroom. The programme also works to improve parents’, carers’, and school staff’s own confidence with numbers and with supporting children with their maths.

The programme has been hugely successful and is growing rapidly – we have now secured funding to deliver activity in all four nations of the UK and we are working with almost 300 schools currently.

The Schools & Families Programme Officer will support the Schools & Families Programme Manager in managing fast-paced activity across the UK, particularly delivering online training directly to school staff, recruiting schools, and visiting selected schools to ensure the success of the programme.

We are looking for someone who can support with this dynamic activity, is flexible, able to manage their time, and willing to adapt to the changing needs of the charity. The main duties of the role

To deliver the IntoUniversity programme effectively to children and young people in different settings, including schools-based workshops, Academic Support sessions and educational visits. This includes positive behaviour management and adherence to the IntoUniversity safeguarding policy.

• To assist with the organisation and delivery of the Academic Support, FOCUS and Mentoring Programmes.

Purpose

To provide administrative and marketing support to the Head of Communications and the Director of Charlie Waller Workplace to facilitate the growth of both the Charlie Waller Trust and the Charlie Waller Workplace offers; charitable and commercial respectively.  

About the role

The majority of this role supports the development and coordination of activities in our paid for service, Charlie Waller Workplace. This service offers strategic consultancy and training to employers, managers and staff on how to embed a whole organisation approach to mental health and wellbeing at work.

We are looking for a highly motivated, confident individual who is able to quickly develop rapport and maintain effective, professional relationships with a varied client base. This role will suit an individual with a keen eye for detail, who has excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to engage with a varied range of stakeholders and to work independently. The successful applicant will be able to effectively balance competing demands, manage a range of diverse activities from administrative support, to coordinating some of our cross-programme projects, to engaging with our external clients and stakeholders.

Whilst experience, or a background, in mental health is not essential, we would expect the successful candidate to demonstrate an interest in this area, particularly in relation to the workplace. There will be opportunities to increase knowledge of this area by shadowing and directly supporting our external training and consultancy activity. This role is situated within the permanent office team at Charlie Waller, and you will work alongside other colleagues who directly support our communications, fundraising and charitable activity. Your key tasks however will be focussed on the needs of Charlie Waller Workplace, supporting the Director and workplace consultants.

As part of this role, you will be expected to update and manage social media and marketing activities for Charlie Waller Workplace. This will require creating content that showcases Charlie Waller Workplace’s services in a way that complements and co-exists with all Charlie Waller social media marketing.

With the support of the Communications team, you will be required to represent and attend events, create visual content (e.g. images, photography and video), draft and send out email marketing, update web pages and write short form content (e.g. social media posts, blogs and emails).

Key responsibilities

• Dealing with and responding to incoming phone calls, email and website enquiries or requests.

Background

The Minster Centre is a registered charity and company and specialist integrative counselling and psychotherapy training provider based in Queens Park, London. We are a leading training provider in the sector and currently have around 400 students attending training courses ranging from open access introductory courses to post-graduate degrees.

Thousands of therapists have trained at the Minster Centre since our inception in 1978 and we have an extensive community. Our courses are accredited by the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy), the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy), and some are validated by Middlesex University. We are also registered with the Office for Students.

The Minster Centre Psychotherapy & Counselling Service (MCPCS) also provides a safe, affordable and professional counselling service to people over the age of 18 who are experiencing a range of difficulties. The service is provided by senior trainees who are in the process of completing their therapy training.

Job summary

The Registry Manager supports all aspects of training and course administration from first enquiry to graduation. This includes introductory courses, professional counselling and psychotherapy qualifications, and MA programmes validated by Middlesex University.  Reporting to the responsible Management Committee Lead, the Registry Manager ensures that we deliver efficient and effective services to support admissions, enrolment, university registration, assessment, progression, HESA data returns, awards, and graduation of our students.

The Registry Manager has line management responsibility for the course administrator, leads on course scheduling, managing student data, organising the Bursaries and Hardship Fund (the Minster Centre Fund), supports key committees, monitors academic progress, and ensures accurate information is presented at Assessment Boards. They will balance day-to-day student matters with supporting the team and working to improve administrative systems.

This is a varied role which is critical for the delivery of The Minster Centre’s strategic objectives and charitable aims. The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, or equivalent, and will have significant relevant experience of administration, ideally within the Higher Education or professional training sectors. A self-motivated person with proven management, communication and interpersonal skills. They will be adaptable, able to work as part of a team, and prioritise a challenging workload.

Main areas of responsibility

The Registry Manager will be responsible for:

Training and course administration

• Organise course scheduling, communicating with various staff during the process, ensuring rooms can be booked and staff contracts are created.
• Oversee and support the Live Assessment scheduling and marking procedures.
• Oversee and support the process for creating student teaching groups.
• Set and disseminate key dates in the academic calendar including term dates annually.
• Be able to identify, contribute to, and action improvements to systems, processes and policies.
• Provide administrative support, including minute taking and any additional administration as required.
• Maintain a Registry Admin Handbook, with regular review and improvement of systems recorded.

Student support and progression

• Ensure that students are enrolled on courses and set up on systems accurately.
• Manage the re-enrolment process between academic years.
• Oversee the recording of student progression.
• Liaise with and support the Operations Team in organising the annual Graduation event and ensuring all eligible students receive timely information.

Reporting

• Co-ordinate and support the accurate information recording and preparation for Assessment Boards and liaise with the External Examiner.
• Oversee and support the various HESA data returns as the liaison Senior Contact and ensure all data is accurate and meets various submission deadlines.
• Provide accurate statistical information to the Management Committee for inclusion in annual reports.

Staff management and stakeholder liaison

• Manage the Course Administrator.
• Work with Admissions, Quality, IT, Finance, Training, and Reception Teams throughout the academic year.
• Attend regular staff meetings and work with other key staff to market courses.
• Conduct annual appraisals.
• Be a key communication link across the staff and student community.
• Work with other key staff to ensure that information is provided accurately to students, staff, and the public via handbooks, Moodle, and the Minster Centre website.
• Liaise with Middlesex University at key points in the year.
