FareShare is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 18 independent organisations. Together, we take good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and get it to almost 11,000 frontline charities and community groups. During 2020, we redistributed 113 million meals through our FareShare Regional Centres and our retail surplus model FareShare Go, reaching over 1 million people.
Hunger is a growing issue in the UK and while there is surplus food that is otherwise going to waste, we believe that this food should be used to feed people first.

The role
This important role sits within our Supply Chain and Logistics team, responsible for processing offers of surplus food from our food partners into our network of Regional Centres and the wider community. This role is essential in ensuring that the food we are offered reaches the thousands of charities and community groups we support across the UK.
The role is a combination of customer service provision and supply chain coordination with a strong data focus. You will analyse varied datasets to decide how food is distributed across our Network to ensure optimal and sustainable distribution. You will also be responsible for continuing and championing the high levels of customer service we provide to the food industry and our network of Regional Centres.
You will work closely with FareShare’s food suppliers, transport partners, and our Regional Centres to identify and overcome operational challenges to distribution. The successful candidate will also work closely with our Food Commercial team to ensure our food partners receive excellent operational support and customer service. We are continually evolving our processes and you will work within a culture of continuous improvement to improve operations within the team.
It is essential that you are passionate about our vision, ensuring that no good food goes to waste. We are looking for organised people who are good at multi-tasking and problem solving. Your time management skills will be exceptional and you will be comfortable working under pressure. You will be data savvy, and confident to manage feedback to various stakeholders with astute analyses and recommendations.
Main areas of responsibility
Food Industry Customer Service
- Deliver excellent customer service, ensuring offers are responded to and processed within agreed service level requirements
- Work closely with the Food Commercial Managers, providing feedback and reporting on service issues and attending meetings and site visits as appropriate
- Assist Food Team with insight and feedback from food businesses, capturing key account information in our CRM system
Regional Centre allocation
- Adhere to the requirements of the Network Service Level Agreement
- Work with the Supply Chain and Logistics Manager to match food supplied to Regional Centre needs, always working to maximise surplus redistribution and minimise waste
- Ensure that offers are allocated in an efficient and timely manner according to network needs and agreed priorities to maximise social impact of surplus food
- Using our CRM system, maintain timely records of accounts, allocations, offers and case management
- Maintain high standards of customer service to the Network and Operations teams and develop respectful and effective working relationships with the Regional Centres.
- Build your understanding of our Network and your relationship with Regional Centres through a programme of regular site visits in collaboration with the Network Development Managers
- Work with the Network Development Managers and Food Supply & Services Managers to identify opportunities to maximise and grow redistributed food volumes
Logistics and transport
- Work with Commercial Managers and hauliers to implement best practice processes and reduce costs for FareShare whilst maximising acceptance of food
- Work with hauliers to plan transport requirements and ensure that we are able to meet network demand
- Work with Regional Centres to coordinate and plan routes for internal FareShare logistics
- Reactively solve transport issues throughout the working day
Data and Analysis
- Use FareShare PowerBI reports to ensure optimal product allocation within contract requirements
- Specify, build, monitor and analyse Salesforce reports to increase efficiency of allocation
- Use dashboards to monitor network issues
- Lead regional network agreement service level review meetings
- Report on data integrity issues to the Network Analyst
Team coordination and representation
- Support the Team providing assistance and cover when required e.g. during busy periods, annual leave and sickness to ensure an even spread of work across the team
- Support the training of new team members
- Represent the Supply Chain and Logistics team at network cluster and food category meetings
- Deputise for the Supply Chain and Logistics Manager when required
- Keep team process instructions up to date Project support
- Act as Supply Chain and Logistics team lead on cross functional projects as required alongside stakeholders including: retailers, funders, and strategic food partners
- Project review; share learnings with the Supply Chain and Logistics team
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- An understanding of food insecurity and sustainability issues, and passion for the mission and values of FareShare
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Evidenced problem solving ability
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent organisation skills – able to prioritise with competence managing ongoing projects alongside reactive daily tasks
- Computer literate with good working knowledge of MS Office, in particular Excel and Word
- Self-starter, ability to work within clearly defined and agreed parameters with limited supervision
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders and third parties
- Ability to handle and analyse data, spotting trends in data and reports
- Experience of working in a fast paced and pressured operations role

The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. We are also very proud of our UR4Driving programme, which supports people recently out of prison with free driving lessons in exchange for community volunteering. Gaining a driving licence greatly enhances their future employability prospects and helps break the cycle of re-offending. Additionally, our UR4Jobs project focusses on both client wellbeing and breaking down the many barriers to employment faced by disadvantaged people every day.
The role
This newly scoped role reports into the CEO and is critical to our ability to create the income we need to keep up with the ever-increasing demand on our services. Primarily, the role has two fundamental elements to it: firstly, working with both a specialist external consultant and the CEO in planning, submitting and reporting on the grants that make up a large proportion of our income; and secondly, the planning and managing of TUR’s traditional (and always fun) annual events. These include celebrity interviews and talks, garden parties and various community events such as the Green Days festival in Chiswick. There are additionally a number of community relationships that add great value to our work and efforts to raise funds which require regular contact. Occasionally, the role will also require presenting or talking to both funders and community groups as we share our magnificent story with them – and ultimately, convince them to support us.
About You
You live within – or know well – West/Central London; you probably need a job with some working flexibility and want to have genuine belief in the cause you’re promoting. You have a CV that demonstrates experience in a comparable role: this could be in another charity, CIC or other Non-Profit organisation. You are comfortable and confident with working autonomously, so you will need to be disciplined; you can articulate and ‘bring to life’ our story through your advanced written and oral communication skills, enabling us to always deliver highly compelling reasons to secure gain financial (and other) support. You don’t need to be a Microsoft Office expert, but you should be familiar with Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Finally, you are self-motivated and energetic, as well as passionate about making sure disadvantaged groups across West London get the opportunity to improve their highly challenging lives. Ideally you will have a driver's licence and use of a car, but this is not essential.

Is an exciting new edition to the TUR team, created to capitalise on the fact that the number of businesses in our catchment area is 45000+, but we’re not trying to talk to all of them, just target a few – ideally by gaining referrals and recommendations. So the job is to proactively find those local businesses happy to talk to us, understand what they might be looking for by partnering with a charity, share our brilliant story along with the business case (which is strong) for them to get involved with us in some way. We have made an excellent start, we already have a small number of great corporate partners, and this job is about taking it all on to the next level. As you would expect the role is about creating contacts, networking, maximising the face-to-face time with prospective partners and where possible gaining referrals. And, ultimately this is all because, the bigger our portfolio of corporate partners all feeling great about their involvement with us, the more able we are to raise the funds we need to keep up with an ever-increasing demand for our services.

Magic Breakfast is a registered charity providing healthy breakfasts to children and young people in the UK who arrive at school too hungry to learn, and expert support to their schools. Over 200,000 children and young people are on roll at Primary, Secondary, ASL / Special Educational Needs Schools and Pupil Referral Units that the charity works with, in disadvantaged areas of Scotland and England. Providing breakfast ensures that children start their school day with the energy and nutrition they need to be able to make the most of their morning lessons. JOB PURPOSE
As part of the Brand and Marketing team, the Social Media Officer will lead on social media strategy for the organization, working closely with teams across Magic Breakfast to develop and diversify our presence on social media. Through innovative, compelling content creation the Social Media Officer will raise awareness of our work and the Magic Breakfast brand. The role's aims are to reach and engage new audiences and to strengthen brand advocacy with exisiting target audiences.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop Magic Breakfast social media channels to grow an engaging environment for people with lived experience of childhood morning hunger and our wider supporter network.
- Develop and deliver effective strategies that optimise and grow our social media channels.
- Liase with both Magic Breakfast and corporate partners' design, PR and social media agencies to deliver effective and timely campaigns
- Monitor, improve (through testing and optimisation) and report on the performance and effectiveness of social media content and campaigns
- Write impactful and engaging social posts, sourcing approprtiate imagery and developing video content in collaboration with the Multimedia Producer.

We are soon launching an advocacy campaign to get legal protections in local and national policy for all our iconic chalk streams.
This is an exciting time for nature policy locally and nationally and you will be working to shape policy and how it is delivered on the ground, for example working on the Local Nature Recovery Strategies and driving councils to integrate the Strategy into their plans, policies and delivery.

This role is the first point of contact for journalists getting in touch with the Trussell Trust. The role is accountable for handling media enquiries; checking and responding to the press inbox; media monitoring and securing press coverage. The Press Officer will assist with media work through print, online and broadcast news to help build understanding, awareness and consideration of the organisation’s mission and goal. The Press Officer will support and advise colleagues, food banks in the network and external stakeholders to ensure they receive media coverage of strategically important projects.
Role responsibilities
· Handle incoming enquiries and provide accurate, timely and appropriate responses, briefing journalists in line with the Trussell Trust’s key messages and priorities.

ShareAction is recruiting for a Senior Research Officer (SRO) to join the LIPH Programme and help support the delivery of our broad portfolio of work. The focus will primarily be on our consumer health campaign (LIPH’s most developed campaign focused on driving more responsible practice in the food industry) but will also support other workstreams, including community health (a newer campaign focused on improving air quality) and driving up investor standards on health. You will ensure our work is founded on robust evidence by taking the latest information and analysis into account and helping to produce credible and compelling outputs across the programme.

You will work on the following key areas:
- Consumer health, primarily focusing on the Healthy Markets Initiative.
- Community health, focusing on our Air Quality initiative.
- Investor standards, focusing on our efforts to improve investor standards on health.

Key activities across these areas of work will include:
Content production
- Writing, editing and/or fact-checking content through different channels, including investor briefings, presentations, case studies, reports and social media content.
- With support from your line manager, you will be developing briefs for outsourced research-focused deliverables that the LIPH team may need and, at times, acting as the lead ShareAction contact for our contractors.
Research and analysis
- Conducting mainly secondary research and in some cases, primary through investor interviews, engagements with civil society groups and/or coalitions, company analysis etc.
- Analysing and reporting on research data, and clearly presenting key themes and findings.
- Keeping up to date with the latest industry trends and issues relating to the LIPH programme.
Monitoring and evaluation
- With support from your team, you will be monitoring and reporting on the health-related practices and policies of companies.
- Supporting the Senior Project Officer in collating metrics for funder/other reporting.
External engagement
- W ith support from your team, you will be supporting external stakeholder meetings (e.g. contractors, research partners, investors or civil society groups).
Internal collaboration
- You will work closely with the Health team’s Senior Campaigns Officer and Senior Engagement Officer on end-to-end processes as well as peers across ShareAction to develop and disseminate good practice related to analysis and research.

The Head of Scotland and Northern Ireland is responsible for leading our vision to end the need for food banks in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
