About Slough Foodbank

Slough Foodbank is a charity whose object is the prevention or relief of poverty in the United Kingdom, mainly in Slough and the surrounding area, in particular but not exclusively by providing emergency food supplies to individuals in need, as motivated by the principles of the Christian Faith.

Slough Foodbank believes that no one in the community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ worth of nutritionally balanced, emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. In 2024, we gave out 12,147 food parcels.  Sadly, this is almost double the number in given out in 2020.  In addition to providing food and basic toiletries, we try to understand the situation of the people referred to us so that we can signpost them to other organisations where appropriate, in order to give a helping hand through a crisis.

Job purpose

We’re seeking someone who is called to lead through great teamwork, enabling us to continue serving our clients well, and fostering an environment of ‘can do’ and care.  Our reach is culturally diverse and you’ll work with people who have varied experiences. You will have an eye for detail and be keen to see improvement across all areas of our work whilst recognising and embracing that the Foodbank is coordinated by a small team of employees and key volunteers who are supported by more than 100 volunteers.  Are you the person we're looking for?

Main duties & Responsibilities

The manager has overall responsibility for the operation of the foodbank, ensuring that we are able to meet the needs of clients facing food poverty crisis. The role is wide-ranging and varied and responsibilities include:

· Primary contact for our parent organisation, Trussell

· Accountable to the Trustees, who have ultimate accountability for the Foodbank

· Volunteer and employee management

· Ensuring there are sufficient donations of food, toiletries, etc, and also financial donations

· Meeting clients’ needs through managing distribution of food parcels including oversight of the warehouse, distribution centres & signposting

· Recruiting and developing volunteers (and any approved employees)

· Building key external relationships with key referral agencies, local forums and networks

· PR & Communications – representing the foodbank externally, raising the profile of food poverty and lobbying for those in need

· Quality assurance & compliance

· Strategic leadership and process improvement

Reporting to the Trustee Board, this role will be responsible for the overall strategic direction, management and financial sustainability of Stratford-upon-Avon Foodbank. Leading our staff and volunteer team, to provide emergency food and practical support to those in crisis and, in the longer term, working with our partners to help us  realise our ambition to ensure everyone has enough money for the essentials, and to end the need for emergency food and foodbanks for good.

Location: Stratford-upon-Avon (Hybrid – Fred Winter Centre + flexible/home working)
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours/week
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 (dependent on experience)

We are looking for someone to support our weekly foodbank by collecting supermarket donations, conducting weekly shopping and supporting the foodbank manager at Dalgarno Trust community centre.

Dalgarno Trust community centre will be your main office location, but you will be required to conduct collections from other locations in a Luton van. The job involves manual handling and requires a clean driving licence.

£13.85 per hour

14 hours per week (part-time)

Two days per week – Weds 3-10pm and Thurs 9am-5pm

Job Purpose

The Development Manager will play a pivotal role in strengthening and sustaining the Foodbank's impact. You will lead fundraising efforts, cultivate key partnerships, oversee communications, and help support long-term organisational sustainability.

You will have a proven track record of growing income and building relationships with funders to achieve and exceed annual income targets and KPI’s. And you will have the capacity to create and craft compelling communications that successfully engage and attract donations.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Income Generation

●Develop and implement a fundraising strategy (grants, trusts, individual giving, corporate partnerships, community fundraising).

●Research, write, and manage funding applications and grant reporting.

●Build and maintain relationships with funders, donors, and partners to secure and grow income streams, ensuring they receive excellent stewardship, timely reporting and doing all you can to maximise potential for further funding.

●Work collaboratively with other Trussell food banks, participate in the Trussell network of fundraisers, proactively take advantage of any skills development opportunities and engage with any joint fundraising opportunities.

●Work with the treasurer to identify fundraising priorities, develop fundraising budgets and make informed projections regarding future income.

●Generate content to promote the work of the food bank and encourage donations through social media, regular newsletters and contact with corporate Volunteers.
 

Partnership Development

●Identify and nurture partnerships with local businesses, charities, schools, faith groups, and community organisations.

●Develop corporate volunteering at the foodbank, alongside the Volunteering Manager, and develop income from corporate partners.

●Represent the Foodbank at local events and meetings to build visibility and strategic relationships.
 

Communications & Engagement

●Manage and widen the Foodbank’s public profile through social media, newsletters, campaigns, and the website.

●Develop engaging content that tells the story of the Foodbank’s impact and encourages support.

●Coordinate media relations where necessary.

●Act as brand guardian, ensuring all communications are consistent with the Kensington & Chelsea Foodbank’s values, tone, and visual identity, and in line with Trussell’s new brand.
 

Strategic Planning & Organisational Development

●Be part of the leadership team, along with the board of trustees, that delivers the Foodbank’s strategic goals.

●Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), helping to evaluate programme impact and effectiveness.

●Proven experience in fundraising or income development (preferably in the charity or non-profit sector).

Job Description

Responsible for:

To assist in providing an efficient and effective Welfare Benefits service within the various foodbank hubs to assess eligibility, maximise income and review and appeal decisions as appropriate. Required to provide advice through various service delivery points, including outreach locations.

Responsible to:  Team leader, and Service Delivery Manager

Base Location:

Hours: 20 Hours per week

Term: Fixed Term until October 2026. This may be extended dependant on further funding opportunities

Salary:£13.50ph
Holidays: 25 days p.a. plus 8 days Bank Holidays pro-rated if the role is part time

Main Responsibilities: 

• Uphold the aims and principles of the Helping Hands Community Trust and the Leicester South Foodbank.
• Work within the service’s ethos and values, especially regarding equality and discrimination.
• Work within health and safety guidelines, sharing responsibility for own health and safety and that of colleagues.
• Keep up to date with legislation, policies and procedures and undertake appropriate training.

• Act where necessary by calculating, drafting or writing letters and producing written submissions for clients as appropriate
• Provide advice work covering the full range of Welfare Benefits law.
• Negotiate with third parties.
• Ensure income maximisation through the take up of appropriate benefits.
• Prepare paper submissions to the appropriate statutory bodies, tribunals and courts as appropriate.
• Assist with related problems where they are an integral part of the case and refer to other advisers or specialists as appropriate.

Job Summary:  This role provides operational and strategic leadership for the Finance function of Feed The Hungry UK. As part of the Management team, this role reports to the CEO and the Trustee Board.

Work Pattern  Full time (37.5 hours per week)

Location:    Based at The Halo Centre, Coventry, with limited flexibility to work from home (by agreement).  

JOB DESCRIPTION  Main responsibilities.

Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all internal and external financial processing and reporting, ensuring full compliance with all laws and regulations, including the Charity Commission, HMRC and Companies House regulations.

1. Lead, motivate, develop and train the finance team, promoting an equal, diverse and inclusive team with a positive culture reflecting the values of Feed The Hungry. 

2. Ensure Feed The Hungry operates sound financial, risk management, internal control systems and maintains up-to-date Financial Regulations to safeguard stakeholders' interests and assets and to ensure the integrity of the organisation’s financial performance and statements. 

3. Provide effective day-to-day oversight of the organisation’s financial controls and financial performance, including keeping financial policies up to date and in line with our processes.

4. As Company Secretary, support governance activities, including administration for board meetings, trustee enquiries and administrative duties for the board. 

5. Be alert to all organisational activities that have a financial impact and speedily assess the impact of such activities. 

6. In partnership with the CEO and Directors, develop and support the delivery of the organisation's strategic plan and the related budgets and forecasts.

7. Ensure the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial data, including strategic plans, budgets, management accounts, live forecasts, and financial data and monitoring requested by funders.

8. Provide financial and management support to the CEO, Directors and trustees on the financial position and risks and opportunities of Feed the Hungry. 

9. Financial oversight of contract negotiations (utilities, insurance). 

10. Proactively develop strong working relationships with FTH managers, providing constructive challenge and commercial insight in support of the strategy. Be proactive in challenging the status quo and be prepared to bring new ideas that will enhance the organisation’s activities and returns. 

11. Regular monitoring and tracking of grants made to the organisation. Ensuring external reporting deadlines are met and internal updates on remaining spend is conveyed to project management grant holders. 

12. Administrative responsibility for oversight of the externally appointed auditors and the successful completion of annual audited financial statements and the annual report, and the timely submission to the Trustees.

13. Maintain an ongoing dialogue with the CEO and Directors, and the external auditors. Responsible for the Company's Finance, Tax, Pensions, Audit, and Payroll.

14. Fulfil the role and duties of Company Secretary and attend Trustee meetings with the CEO and Directors 

15. General Duties:
