Job description

NCVO has a reputation as an authoritative voice for the charity sector: our robust, actionable policy positions and campaigns are built upon a strong research and evidence base and an engaged membership. You’ll help us to build on this reputation through excellent communications.

You’ll get involved in a range of projects, you’ll likely have a background in public relations or a similar area, but it won’t be all you want to do in your next role.

You’ll support staff with media work, find opportunities to highlight our messages, and also develop relationships with our members to help showcase their work. You’ll also help us create content for our own channels, such as email and social media.

You’ll be part of the communications team at NCVO, which is responsible for media and internal communications, as well as parliamentary and stakeholder relations, and you’ll work closely with colleagues in our digital and marketing teams. Coordinating our communications to make sure our messages are heard by the right audiences at the right time will be an important aspect of your job.

We’re looking for someone with the judgement to help us frame our issues in the right way and the writing ability to help us explain our work clearly. We’re looking for someone with excellent news sense and political judgement, and who has the initiative to spot issues and deal with them sensitively and effectively.

NCVO is a positive and supportive place to work, and you’ll be joining us at an exciting time as we get the ball rolling on a new strategy to inform our future priorities.

NCVO is fully committed to equity, diversity and inclusion in our sector. We want this to be reflected in the diversity of the people who work for us and we welcome applications from people from all backgrounds and identities. We particularly welcome applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates as BAME and disabled people are currently under-represented in NCVO. As part of our commitment to employing disabled people, all disabled candidates who meet the minimum requirement for all competencies on the person specification, will be guaranteed an interview.

If you have access needs or require reasonable adjustments as part of the recruitment process, please let us know.
