As Financial Controller, you will lead the charity’s financial operations, ensuring compliance, transparency, and strategic alignment. You’ll work closely with the CEO, Treasurer, trustees, and external providers to deliver robust financial reporting, effective treasury management, and support decision-making across the organisation.  As we’re a small organisation, there’ll also be times when you’ll need to support the day-to-day running of our financial operations directly.

Role tasks and responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and management accounting.
• Oversee income and expenditure tracking, including restricted/unrestricted funds.
• Manage cash flow to meet organisational requirements.
• Monthly presentation of financial management reports.
• Oversee management of the charity’s investments.
• Manage financial systems (e.g., Sage) and outsourced providers, including pension and payroll operators.
• Ensure appropriate schedules of financial delegation are in place/observed.
• Manage bank accounts, ensuring effective relationships with financial institutions.
• Ensure compliance with charity accounting regulations and funder requirements.
• Support funding applications with financial insights.
• Lead year-end accounts and audit preparation, working with auditors on the production of statutory accounts.
• Develop internal controls and financial policies.
• Support external partnerships working in line with strategic goals.
• Oversee procurement processes, ensuring value for money from providers.
• Step in and support day-to-day financial operations such as Sage and Salesforce recording and analysis as and when required.
• Identify financial opportunities and risks and how these impact on the strategic plan.

You will work on creating our Individual Giving appeals, writing compelling communications which will inspire and drive income. Experience required 

You’ll have previous experience of: 

• Managing direct marketing campaigns in a charity environment.

• Leading projects from start to finish within given budgets and timescales.

• Creating compelling and professional communications for a variety of audiences and channels. 

• Analysing campaign results and using insight to optimise future campaigns.

• Collaborative working with multiple internal and external partners to deliver campaigns.

Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA)

You will conduct risk assessments (DASH), develop safety plans, and work closely with agencies such as social services, police, and housing. You will also play a key role in raising awareness and improving support for neurodivergent survivors. 

What You’ll Do 

Provide specialist, person-centred advocacy for survivors with learning disabilities and autism. 

 Undertake risk assessments and safety planning to enhance survivor well-being. 
Represent survivors at MARAC and multi-agency meetings, advocating for their needs. 
Work closely with social services, health professionals, and the criminal justice system. 
Deliver training and consultation to professionals on supporting neurodivergent survivors. 
Ensure accurate case management and uphold safeguarding responsibilities. 

What We’re Looking For 

IDVA qualification OR significant domestic abuse advocacy experience. 
Understanding of domestic abuse, coercive control, and trauma-informed practice. 
Experience working with survivors of domestic abuse, particularly those with learning disabilities and autism. 
Strong advocacy, case management, and multi-agency working skills. 
Ability to adapt communication styles to support neurodivergent clients. 
Knowledge of MARAC, safeguarding, and legal frameworks for domestic abuse cases.

Together, the charities Sands and Tommy’s have formed a Joint Policy Unit (JPU) focussed on achieving policy change that will save more babies’ lives during pregnancy and the neonatal period and on tackling inequalities in loss, so that everyone can benefit from the best possible outcomes.

The JPU’s mission is to secure policy change that will reduce rates of miscarriage, stillbirth, pre-term birth and neonatal death, and to work to eliminate inequalities in these outcomes.

While there is widespread agreement on the need for change to improve the safety of maternity and neonatal services, what that change looks like is not clear.  To save more babies’ lives we believe that a continued focus is required, and that governments should set new commitments to reduce perinatal mortality and preterm births, focused on matching the best-performing countries in Europe.

This role will be crucial to the continued success of the JPU unit; leading, shaping and coordinating all the unit’s work. 

We are looking for an independent and assertive problem-solver, a policy expert who can manage multiple priorities, take the initiative, lead the national conversation and is as excited as we are about taking the helm of this venture for both of our organisations.

The successful candidate will need to have a substantial track record of effectively leading and implementing national policy and influencing programmes, driving change and achieving the desired impact.

Content creation and content management

• Working with the Senior Communications Manager, research, draft, and edit compelling content for the UK website, newsletters, and print materials.
• Support the reimagining of existing content to ensure messaging is fresh, relevant, and audience-led.
• Collate and maintain a library of case studies, stories, and assets for use across teams.
• Ensure brand voice and tone are consistently applied across all communications.

Digital and organic social media

• Develop and maintain a social media content calendar which supports our Communications Strategy and liaise with our Social Media Freelancer to plan and approve posts.
• Contribute to the delivery of multi-channel campaigns, liaising with internal stakeholders and suppliers to create assets and meet deadlines.
• Assist with monitoring and reporting on content performance, identifying opportunities for growth and engagement.

Campaign coordination

• Support the planning and scheduling of communications campaigns like World Smile Day and advertising events like our annual carols concert.
• Manage feedback processes to ensure the timely delivery of content and materials.
• Act as the first point of contact for all content requests from across the organisation.

Administration and finance

• Collate quotes for expenditure and liaise with suppliers as required.
• Track invoices, ensuring coding is accurate and amounts match agreed quotes.
• Maintain organised systems for content workflows, approvals, and campaign schedules.

Monitoring and evaluation

• Gather engagement and performance metrics from all channels.
• Provide regular reports to the Senior Communications Manager.
• Suggest improvements to optimise performance and impact.

The post holder will drive new donor engagement and secure sustainable, multi-year funding. Rape Crisis South London is looking for a skilled and experienced professional who is passionate about improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people. 
 

This is an exciting opportunity to lead on the delivery of the South West London (SWL) Child Sexual Abuse Early Emotional Support Service for the CYP service. Working closely with the NHS and Schools you will manage a small specialist counselling team ensuring high-quality, trauma informed support for our young people who have experienced sexual violence. It is essential that you have a good working knowledge of Safeguarding legislation for children and adults, as well as child development. 
 

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and an ability to develop partnerships with schools, families, funders and other key stakeholders. You will hold a relevant professional qualification in counselling or psychotherapy and be registered with the BACP/UKCP or equivalent. You will have significant experience of working therapeutically with children and young people, ideally in the contexts of trauma or abuse.

Philanthropy Report Specialist

As our Philanthropy Report Specialist, your words will help bring this mission to life. You’ll create compelling proposals and reports that inspire generosity, deepen partnerships, and show the transformational impact of projects across the globe.

What you’ll do

• Research, write, and deliver inspiring funding proposals and reports

• Create engaging content that connects donors to the impact of their giving

• Work closely with Philanthropy Managers to tailor communications to individual partners

• Ensure reports and proposals are accurate, timely, and aligned with Compassion’s ethos and values

• Support donor engagement by developing creative touchpoints and resources

We went live with a new finance platform in January 2025. This new, permanent role is essential to ensure we maximise the benefits and efficiencies that the platform can bring to our financial processes, setting us up to maximise the impact we can have for children around the world.

You will help us make the most of our new finance system (Unit 4 ERPx), which supports smarter decision-making and better use of donor funds. Your past experience in embedding new finance systems will ensure it runs smoothly, continuously improving how we work. You will manage system access, workflows, and reporting tools, and be the go-to person for technical support. You will also lead on testing updates, managing support tickets, and working with our external system partners.

We need someone who can spot opportunities to improve processes and help train others to use the system confidently. You must be a team player who will work closely with the Head of Financial Control and our Information Team to make sure everything connects and runs well, ensuring compliance with VAT, data protection, and internal policies.
