Purpose of job:
The Fundraising Event and Challenges Lead is responsible for overseeing the fundraising events portfolio, developing and driving the strategy, and leading the delivery of a wide-ranging events and challenges portfolio to deliver ambitious organisational objectives and fundraising growth targets. This includes high-profile celebrity sporting and non-sporting challenge events alongside special events and mass-engagement events.
Key responsibilities:
· Leads the strategy setting and annual planning and budget setting for Comic Relief’s events, including building financial models, developing business cases and strategic plans.
· Lead the operational planning and implementation of fundraising events from ideation, through development and delivery, ensuring an agile approach to changing circumstances and to manage risk and maximise income opportunities.
· Manage and coach the events co-ordinator to support and deliver operational and fundraising activity across the portfolio to deliver against agreed plans and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Partnerships
- Support with creating proposals and pitches to secure Brand, Corporate and Commercial Partnerships, with a strong focus on shared purpose and mutual benefit, to create successful long term strategic partnerships.
- Support with relationship management of current partners of Rays of Sunshine, ensuring they have materials to aid their fundraising.
- To manage the input of corporate partnership data on the CRM system (currently Donorfy).
- Manage the updates to the corporate pipeline master document, ensuring appropriate actions are met within deadline.
- Supporting the Corporate Volunteer Researcher to undertake the necessary research to support our pipeline of approaches.
Philanthropy
- Creating supporter updates and reports to demonstrate the impact of funding received from our Patrons and Major Donors, providing excellent stewardship to existing donors.
- Provide support with the event planning of major donor events, and attend in person to provide support of events on the day.
Trusts and Foundations
- Support with research and the successful completion applications to secure donations from a pipeline of identified Trusts and Foundations
Stewardship
- Identifying new opportunities to create wow moments for donors and provide excellent stewardship of all major donors and partnerships.
General
- General administrative duties, including record meeting notes and actions, following up with partners, sending out of promotional materials, monitoring and responding to email enquiries, and taking telephones calls.

About this key role
Our successful candidate will work collaboratively with senior management to contribute to the implementation of the new income generation strategy – focusing specifically on retention and developing our unrestricted voluntary income from a range of funding streams. - Building and managing the prospect pipeline across the team, and leading on 'moves management' to ensure we are effectively managing and supporting potential and existing prospects to have a great experience
- Ensuring our prospect development strategy is understood consistently across the wider Strategic Partnerships team
- Providing recommendations on how to engage prospects, considering motivations and existing networks
- Producing research profiles, reports and biographical briefings
- Developing and utilising internal and external prospect research databases and network mapping systems to identify sources of warm prospects
- Identifying relevant events for Partnership Development Managers to attend for networking and/or insight-gathering purposes, and developing detailed briefs on events speakers and attendees
- Ensuring quality control of prospect research processes and documentation
- Recommending appropriate and cost-effective research tools and manage this part of the expenditure budget.
About you:
- Educated to degree-level/equivalent educational standard, or significant equivalent work experience
- Strong understanding of the role of research in good prospect management, cultivation and stewardship (in commercial or not-for-profit environment)
- Experience carrying out prospect research for corporate partnerships using relevant databases and research tools
- Very strong research and analytical skills, including ability to produce detailed and insightful profiles and network lists for prospective individual and organisation partners
- Ability to analyse complex information and communicate clearly and credibly for delivery to a variety of audiences in written reports, presentations and meetings

The Corporate Partnerships Manager for our Fundraising team will focus and lead on:

At The Compassionate Friends (TCF) we are passionate about providing peer support to grieving parents and their families whose son or daughter has died at any age (from one month old to an adult) and from any cause. We offer this support through our network of over 300 dedicated volunteers who are themselves bereaved parents or siblings. We are now seeking an Events & Community Fundraiser to join our small, but dedicated and hardworking, staff team to help us to develop our funding to continue our vital work. In this exciting and diverse role, you will be leading on the recruitment and stewardship of individual fundraisers and fundraising groups undertaking challenge events, digital fundraising and other community fundraising initiatives.
Just some of the activities you will be working on include:
o Taking ownership of community and events fundraising at The Compassionate Friends, including preparing an annual plan, and incorporating digital fundraising alongside traditional methods.
o Managing existing and introducing new challenge and fundraising events to grow the events programme, This will include attending some key fundraising events.
o Managing a programme of community fundraising, including relationships with various community groups.
o Building and maintaining effective relationships, delivering excellent support care and stewardship to donors, fundraisers, community groups, and partner organisations. Researching and designing new fundraising events, initiatives and products .
o Writing inspiring content for supporter communications, social media and website content
This role is for you if you have experience or transferable skills around planning, organising and delivering fundraising campaigns and activities, proven experience or skills in delivering income growth in an events and/or community fundraising setting and knowledge of online fundraising tools, digital marketing and social media.. Event management/coordination skills are a key priority within this position, (especially delegate/beneficiary and event administration), combined with a meticulous, accurate and disciplined approach to work with strong IT and data management skills. Being able to prioritise a varied and busy workload and deliver to deadlines. Due to the nature of this exciting position within the charity, there is a requirement to attend events and meetings outside of normal working hours (including weekends) and travel as necessary, along with a relationship with beneficiaries, supporters, and gatekeepers.

The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. We are also very proud of our UR4Driving programme, which supports people recently out of prison with free driving lessons in exchange for community volunteering. Gaining a driving licence greatly enhances their future employability prospects and helps break the cycle of re-offending. Additionally, our UR4Jobs project focusses on both client wellbeing and breaking down the many barriers to employment faced by disadvantaged people every day.
The role
Is an exciting new edition to the TUR team, created to capitalise on the fact that the number of businesses in our catchment area is 45000+, but we’re not trying to talk to all of them, just target a few – ideally by gaining referrals and recommendations. So the job is to proactively find those local businesses happy to talk to us, understand what they might be looking for by partnering with a charity, share our brilliant story along with the business case (which is strong) for them to get involved with us in some way. We have made an excellent start, we already have a small number of great corporate partners, and this job is about taking it all on to the next level. As you would expect the role is about creating contacts, networking, maximising the face-to-face time with prospective partners and where possible gaining referrals. And, ultimately this is all because, the bigger our portfolio of corporate partners all feeling great about their involvement with us, the more able we are to raise the funds we need to keep up with an ever-increasing demand for our services.
About You
You live within - or know well, West/Central London, you probably need a job with some working flexibility and want to have genuine belief in the product or service you’re talking about. You have a CV that demonstrates solid experience in a comparable role in a ‘business-to-business’ environment, a role - the success of which, is dependent on the levels of energy and proactivity you provide. This could be in another charity, CIC or other Non-Profit organisation. However, if you have a solid B2B background and want to explore a change of direction you are also very welcome to apply. You are comfortable and confident with working autonomously, you can articulate and ‘bring to life’ your story through your presentation skills. You also need great listening skills so you can build a picture of what each new corporate partner is looking to achieve by signing up to our cause. Sue Ryder’s specialist teams are there when it matters, from caring for those with a terminal illness to helping others manage their grief. They provide expert care to people at the end of their lives whatever their health needs and do this from their seven specialist centres and in people’s homes. They also offer bereavement support nationally as well as campaign for change so that everyone who is approaching the end of their life or grieving has access to the right support, at the right time.
This is an exciting and integral role at Sue Ryder who are seeking an experienced legacy and in memory fundraiser to lead a programme that brings in c£7.5-8million a year. You will develop and implement an innovative fundraising strategy that is focused on sustainable growth and providing exceptional stewardship.
Legacy and in memory giving are both priority income streams for the charity; you will work across the charity to inspire and empower colleagues to promote these income streams among supporters, service users and their loved ones.

About the role
As Senior Legacy and In Memory Manager, you will:
- be responsible for legacy and in memory income of between £7.5-8million a year;
