We are currently recruiting for a Philanthropy Executive to join our Philanthropy & Partnerships team in the Fundraising Directorate. The Philanthropy Executive will develop relationships with Major Donors and Family Foundations through research, events, proposals, and excellent stewardship. Securing philanthropic income against target to further the work of the Canal & River Trust.
This role will be offered on a remote working basis, with a requirement to attend our main hub spaces for team working and collaborative meetings. Hubs we can assign to you include Leeds, Ellesmere Port, Burnley, Newark, Birmingham, Hatton, Milton Keynes, Gloucester & London.
Applicants will need to be able to attend face-to-face team meetings in Birmingham (once or twice a month). The regularity & flexibility of travel will be discussed further at interview stage.

Legacy Manager (Maternity Cover)
Role Summary:
As part of the Major Gifts and Planned Giving team, this role is responsible for managing a caseload of approximately 80 legacy estates, including pecuniary, specific, residuary and life interest estates. - Administer legacies in a professional and approachable manner, to include correspondence with solicitors and other interested parties
- Maintain departmental information, files, and records related to legacy estates
- Act as the point of contact and grow and mature relationships with stakeholders and external groups in order to attain information needed to carry out the role
- Work with various stakeholders on contested legacies, collaborating with other charities where needed
- Be able to communicate to supporters how important and desirable legacies are to PETA
- Respond to enquiries and requests for assistance from Augustus Club members and planned-giving prospects
- Document pertinent information about planned-giving members for the purpose of enhancing and building relationships

About Eden Valley Hospice & Jigsaw, Cumbria's Children's Hospice
Since opening their doors in 1991, Eden Valley Hospice has been providing care for adults with life-limiting illnesses from North Cumbria. Their Adult In-Patient Unit has 10 beds in single en-suite rooms which overlook their beautiful walled garden. Jigsaw, Cumbria Children's Hospice was opened in 1998 as an extension of the adult hospice, providing effective care to children with life-limiting illnesses. The team at both hospices are passionate about delivering excellent end-of-life care for the community.
The impact of these hospices on the community is massive. In 2023-2024, Eden Valley Hospice delivered 2,499 nights of care to 197 patients, and Jigsaw supported 49 patients over 722 days of care. Patients ranged from ages 1-95. The hospices provided talks on different symptoms, wills, nutrition, advice, bereavement support, peer to peer support and family support days. To this day, their vision remains at the heart of what they do; Improving care for people in our communities who are dying or have conditions which will shorten their lives.
About the Role
You'll work as an integral part of the fundraising team to meet and exceed income targets, focusing on corporate fundraising, and growing income and awareness through excellent stewardship and relationship building. You'll also help create and deliver a range of campaigns designed to increase supporter engagement across corporate fundraising. Many of the businesses in Cumbria are family owned and so we are talking about real long term, deep and authentic relationship with the business who support the hospice.
There is loads to be getting stuck in with; they have an established business club, and lots of events and volunteer opportunities to be shouting about. There's a massive opportunity to build the corporate pipeline of support and be bolder in in terms of the size and scale of the business they are approaching, so lots of ways to make your mark in this role!

The Corporate Partnerships Officer will join a small and high-performing Corporate Partnerships team, taking over a portfolio of corporate partners and prospects at our ‘consortium’ partner level, ranging from £10k-£50k per annum.

- Personally scope, develop and secure new corporate partnerships at consortium level (£10k-£50k), aiming for a robust portfolio of partners in assigned sectors with multi-year commitments, working with the Head of Corporate Partnerships and other relevant stakeholders to appropriately to secure and steward.
- Support the Head of Corporate Partnerships to engage in proactive new business development within the corporate sector, including support for network mapping with senior volunteers.

- Support senior team members on designated high-value partnerships, including specific administrative and project tasks, e.g. coordinating meetings and webinars, attending programme visits, event invites, and volunteering opportunities.

Fundraising, Finance and Reporting
- Act as an ambassador for the Trust with external audiences in the corporate space, representing the Trust with confidence and enthusiasm to secure major gifts and develop relationships.
- Ensure the Trust’s CRM (Salesforce), account management plans, and all relevant income pipeline documents are kept appropriately up to date with activity from corporate partners, including accurate income forecasting.

Job Purpose
To develop and manage one of the Big C Charity retail units, under the direction of the Retail Operations Manager and the Assistant Retail Operations Manager.
Managing the day to day running of the shop, maximising retail sales and profit while delivering a high quality of customer service through effective leadership of staff and volunteers and management of resources and budgets.

Main Duties

The role
You will report directly into our Head of Fundraising and will provide strategic support to the "Hope for Mental Health" Appeal.
