AMOSSHE The Student Services Organisation is looking for a new Head of Engagement and Operations. In this role you’ll support our Executive Director in leading AMOSSHE as a senior leader. You’ll be responsible for handling operational management, which includes acting as the Deputy Director for the organisation. You’ll oversee strategic areas involving member engagement, ensuring the effective delivery of our membership services, and driving strategic initiatives. We are seeking a home-based Communications Officer to join RSPB Scotland's communications team.

You'll have an interest in or passion for nature and the outstanding communications skills, knowledge and the experience we need to tell inspiring stories of the conservation projects, our network of nature reserves and our colleagues that are striving to help protect and restore nature across Scotland.

What's the role about?

You'll be part of a dynamic team working across Scotland to unearth and tell great stories from colleagues that inspire key audiences about RSPB Scotland’s nature conservation work.

We are recruiting a General Advice Officer to support with the delivery of advice and welfare support to vulnerable guests who access the Community Wellbeing Service, a local support hub offering relief from the rising cost of living for local families. The General Advice Officer will support our guests on a range of areas including benefits, immigration, housing, money management and access to training and employment services. The postholder will provide high quality welfare advice and guidance through weekly one-to-one advice sessions, undertake case work, work with partners to facilitate referrals, and provide support to advice volunteers.

Advice Work

The ADSHG is a well-established UK charity supporting people with Addison’s and adrenal insufficiency through its website, social media reach and member services.   Addison’s disease is a form of adrenal insufficiency and is a rare endocrine condition affecting 1:10,000, and both genders. Whilst treatable with time-critical daily medication, individuals with adrenal insufficiency are at risk of potentially life-threatening adrenal crisis, which occurs when physical or emotional triggers mean that prescribed medication no longer meets the body’s need for cortisol.  Adrenal crisis is a medical emergency and can be life-threatening if not diagnosed and treated in a short period of time.  Addison's and adrenal insufficiency are not widely understood, even within the medical community.     

Social Media

Our social media reach has grown steadily over the years, and, thanks to thoughtful content promoting audience engagement, it currently stands at a reach of over 31,000 across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X and with a growing reach on BlueSky.   Our audience consists of our members and non-members with a diagnosis of adrenal insufficiency, their carers and supporters, and healthcare professionals.

Purpose of the Role

The role of the Project Officer – CSO Services will lead on the coordination and management of international pro bono legal opportunities.. A key focus of this role is to engage with CSOs globally, to scope potential partners and areas which require, or would benefit from, pro bono legal assistance. This will support A4ID’s weekly pro bono projects and larger strategic projects.

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Charity Administrator to lead on core administrative and compliance functions during the crucial start-up phase. The charity provides treatment for children suffering from life threatening heart disease in developing countries and is also developing cardiac services overseas through training, building infrastructure and providing vital medical equipment.

The EA to CEO will provide support to the Chief Executive to facilitate with the smooth running of the office and the organisation. You will play a central role in the office as a key member of staff managing office systems and ensuring the quality of all central support tasks.

Key responsibilities:

• Office & Operations Management: Oversee smooth running of both physical and virtual office environments, manage suppliers and logistics, act as front-of-house, and ensure effective office systems and supplies.
• Executive Support: Provide high-level assistance to the CEO, including diary and travel management, meeting coordination, minute-taking, and liaison with donors, trustees, and key stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

As a paralegal, you will be a key member of the Legal team and will work closely with the team to provide legal support across all aspects of the organisation. This includes our various fundraising activities and campaigns, grant making, working with our partners and suppliers, and managing our contracts as an organisation. We are looking for a candidate with paralegal experience, who has a good understanding of contracts and experience in legal processes.                                                        

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Working with other members of the Legal team to help deliver quality and consistent legal and compliance support across RNIB.

• Drafting, negotiating, reviewing and advising on straightforward contracts such as NDAs and services agreements using legal precedents and guidance notes, with supervision where required.

• Advising on legal and compliance matters in line with our policies and guidance notes.

• Working with other members of the Legal team on strategic projects, litigation or disputes.

• Championing contract management across the organisation, and being an ambassador for legal matters across the wider organisation.

• With appropriate support, develop and deliver training on our legal policies, processes and guidance.

• Take day to day responsibility for electronic contract storage management.

• Support the external supplier invoicing process and management of the legal budget.

About You

You'll have:

• at least six months' experience working as a paralegal

• ideally, a law degree (or equivalent e.g. CPE, GDL) or a recognised paralegal professional qualification although this is not essential

• excellent organisational skills and be able to manage several projects and contracts

• Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.), able to quickly adapt to using new IT tools e.g. for training, audit, invoices and trade marks.

You'll be a collaborative team member, able to build strong relationships and champion compliance with legal processes.

You'll take ownership of issues, decisions and escalations

As Senior Finance Officer, you will play a vital role at World Heart Beat, ensuring the effective day-to-day management of finances, financial administration, and bookkeeping, as well as informing future business planning. You will work with key personnel across the team, providing guidance and leadership in relation to budget management and financial information to support funding applications and stewardship. You will also provide excellent reporting to support the Executive and Board.

It is an exciting time for the charity, following the opening of World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens in 2023, our second site for music teaching, which includes a café, concert hall and recording studio. The operation of two sites has increased our activities and overheads, making the Senior Finance Officer role even more crucial. We have also established a CIC through which new earned income streams are channelled. The Senior Finance Officer will have the opportunity to develop and shape financial processes and contribute to forward planning.

A mission-driven and impact focused single programme NGO is seeking an Interim Finance Director for a 1 year maternity cover contract. The role is fully remote (from within the UK) and is full-time (5 days per week) for a 12 month contract. There may be the requirement to travel to Ghana on occasion throughout the 12 months. A busy role, in a vibrant charity headed by a passionate Founder/CEO – the role represents the chance to be part of a fantastic international organisation.

Salary is £63,000 - £70,000 depending on skills and experience, and the role would best suit a fully-qualified accountant with significant experience managing global finance teams within the international development sector.

The organisation’s mission is to get 3-6 year old children in rural Africa to thrive.  They have developed an award-winning Early Childhood Development programme, proven its impact through rigorous evaluation, and scaled it with governments in both Ghana and Uganda. It is currently reaching over 300,000 children per year, and we aim to reach 1 million children per year by 2028. The programme benefits both preschool age children and unlocks the potential of marginalised rural parents.

With around 100 staff globally, the interim Finance Director will manage a diverse team of finance professionals. Your role will include setting and managing budgets, supporting fundraising strategy and proposals, overseeing spend and financial controls and processes.  You will lead the finance team in Ghana made up of a Junior Finance Manager, four Finance Officers, two bookkeepers and a Procurement and Logistics Officer.  You will also manage the Uganda Finance Officer, and Global Finance Manager based in the UK.

The role will involve a mixture of hands-on accounting, complex donor reporting, consolidated and year-end accounts, budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning and financial modelling. Xero is used across the organisation, and financial year-end is December.

Duties include:

· Contribute to the development and implementation of the organisation’s scale and income-generation strategy, including exciting new opportunities for potential expansion to the southern regions in Ghana and exploring implementation of the programme in a new country.

· Develop and strengthen robust and flexible cost models (including sensitivity analyses/stress testing) to guide decisions around the pace and rate of scale, staffing & resource requirements, ensure value for money and maximise cost efficiencies.

· Develop robust budgets for new and renewal funder applications, considering complexities around funder restrictions, currency exchange and forecast economic conditions.

· Ensure that the organisation-wide financial systems, policies, procedures and internal controls and audits are robust, compliant and best practice to support current activities and future growth.

· Be pro-active in identifying ways to improve efficiencies and strengthen financial rigour, including leading on internal projects to enhance systems and processes to automate approvals and develop cost recovery models as we look to expand our operations outside Ghana and Uganda.

· Lead and coach the finance team to maintain and deliver operational excellence & financial rigour, closely monitoring the operating and financial reports against plans and budgets.

· Lead monthly financial reviews and oversee timely production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports to the Board, donors and management team.

· Work with our internal operations and programmes team to develop financial systems so that direct financial support is provided to local government partners and they are able to take on responsibility for and account for programme budgets, including overseeing termly financial disbursements and reporting.

· Work with programmes team to build the capacity of local government partners in financial management, procurement, and budgeting so that they will eventually be able to fund and sustain the programme themselves. Create the budgets, financial information, documentation and materials for funding proposals.

· Oversee the creation of all financial reports for funders, ensuring mechanisms to track and report against restricted income are robust, and preparing financial analyses for funder

· Provide monthly and quarterly management accounts for trustees summarising current and forecast financial position for the year, cashflow analysis and KPI reporting.

· Attend trustee meetings, present information to the Board and liaise with Board members, including leading the quarterly Finance and Audit Committee meetings.

· Ensure that the Statutory Accounts for all entities are prepared, including internal information is collated and provided, external auditors are instructed and deliver to standard.

· Ensure all organisations are compliant with tax, regularity and legal requirements (e.g payroll, tax, NGO registration, insurance, registrations with regulatory authorities)

· Actively manage the performance and build the capacity of direct reports through training, coaching, holding 1to1s, setting performance goals, appraisals, developing new policies and practices.

Requirements: 

-Fully-qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA essential

-Prior experience working as Head of Finance or Finance Director in an international development charity (NGO)

-Prior experience managing a global team

-Deep understanding of international charity finance - donor reporting, programmes finance, foreign currency transactions

-Strategic finance experience covering budgeting, scenario planning, consolidated accounting and financial modelling - within an NGO setting

-Must be able to start the role quickly - ideally immediately available or with a short notice period
