Fundraising Manager - Public Fundraising

Neuroblastoma UK

Every year in the UK, around 100 children are diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that mostly affects children under five. Neuroblastoma UK is a small national charity, dedicated to finding a cure for neuroblastoma.  For 40 years, we’ve been funding leading research to develop new, more effective and kinder treatments for children with this life-threatening disease - and get one step closer to finding a cure.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, The Fundraising Manager – Public Fundraising role will be a key role in the growth of Neuroblastoma UK during our 40th year and beyond. Currently one manager role manages all income streams, and this new role will be vital in ensuring both managers have capacity to grow their income areas and support the charity’s continued growth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the strategy, budgeting and delivery of all public fundraising streams – Individual Giving, Community Fundraising, Challenge Events and Legacy Marketing.  These will be your owned areas to decide on the direction, investment and how you want to run these on a day-to-day basis.
  • Being the first port of call for supporters and potential supporters who get in touch with the charity via telephone, email and social media
  • Recruiting and managing of volunteers required to support with duties
  • Being the Data Protection expert within the organisation, ensuring GDPR is adhered to across all communications from Neuroblastoma UK
  • Managing the database, ensuring all data, donations and communications are captured compliantly
  • Processing donations and sending outgoing thank you letters to individual donors and groups
  • Sending out information, merchandise, and fundraising materials to supporters who request it
  • Supporting the Communications Manager by managing your own areas of the website and producing your own content for social media
  • With the other managers in the organisation, supporting in duties outside of your specific team or department as required
  • Taking the lead on developing our expenditure split and working with Communications Manager to keep this updated

Person Specification

  • Demonstrable experience of growing Public Fundraising income in a small charity
  • Microsoft Office skills – especially Excel
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of managing and delivering strategy
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Able to work well alone and in a team
  • Excellent phone manner
  • Ability to deal with sensitive situations with empathy
  • Happy and able to work autonomously
  • Proactive in optimising existing processes to improve performance
  • Proactive in looking for innovative opportunities for Neuroblastoma UK’s fundraising
  • Experience managing budgets and reporting on this monthly
  • Experience in digital e.g., paid social, website management email marketing
  • Driven by achieving ambitious KPIs
  • Sympathetic to the aims and values of Neuroblastoma UK
  • Experience of working with a database – we use Beacon
  • Proactive in looking for solutions to any barriers you may encounter - solution focused rather than problem focused

Application Instructions

Please submit CV and cover letter to apply for this role.

The cover letter should detail why you would like to work for Neuroblastoma UK and why you would be a good fit for the role.
