That could be working with our innovation team to maximise marketing opportunities to our Inspire product members, ensuring our website content is a powerful call to action, or working with our supporter journey team to plan an exceptional welcome journey for new gifts in Wills enquirers. Our Challenge Events team has seen a massive increase in fundraiser numbers this year. We’re hiring to unlock the full potential of this incredible community. Reporting into the Challenge Events Manager, you’ll boost our ability to grow our portfolio of events and connect personally with the incredible people who support CALM on a day to day basis. 

The reasons people fundraise for CALM can be deeply personal. They might have lost someone to suicide, used our helpline for themselves or someone they know, or they might want to support a lifesaving service. By understanding what drives them, you’ll shape and deliver event experiences that feel meaningful and memorable, strengthen their connection to CALM, and inspire them to keep coming back for more. 

Responsibilities

• Support on delivery of the Challenge Events portfolio, ensuring Challenge Event Fundraisers are staying on track - such as completing registration forms on time, and setting up fundraising pages

• Provide end-to-end operational support for fundraising events, including liaising with venues, partners and suppliers, obtaining quotes, coordinating travel and logistics, working with production teams, preparing materials, producing risk assessments, and creation of event documentation such as briefs, schedules and post-event evaluations

• Represent CALM at Events, including acting as an Event Day Lead, and attending wider CALM events

• Work with the Challenge Events Manager and Event Fundraising Lead to develop our portfolio of events, contributing ideas, analysing performance, identifying opportunities and putting ideas into action

• Steward CALM’s Challenge Event Fundraisers effectively throughout their journey when supporting CALM, to ensure they feel appreciated and inspired to fundraise for us

• Be the friendly voice of CALM, responding to enquiries through the website or phone in a timely manner

• Proactively craft and send personalised emails to fundraisers to drive retention and satisfaction

• Help with the management and optimisation of Event email automated journeys used to steward participants in the lead up to and after their event

• Help to devise and manage our event marketing strategy 

• Deliver stewardship calls to Event Fundraisers - welcoming them to the team after sign up, wishing them good luck before their event, or offering them fundraising guidance and support 

• Work confidently across key income platforms to ensure accurate setup, coding and reporting of fundraising pages, campaigns and donations, including JustGiving and Enthuse.

• Support on the maintenance of relevant pages on the CALM website

• Analyse feedback from fundraisers via our post event surveys and identify areas for improvement

• Engage with Fundraisers on our CALM Facebook groups - sparking conversation and fostering a supportive community atmosphere

• Recruit and manage volunteers to support at events

• Work with the wider organisation to improve processes and data management

Job description 

1. Supporter engagement: 

• Thanking and recording donations; maintaining up-to-date supporter records 

• Supporting outreach through JRS UK events such as our Advent Service and report launches 

• Representing JRS UK at external events such as Greenbelt festival or the National Justice and Peace Network conference 

• Undertaking talks and appeals in parishes or school

2. Digital and Offline communications: 

• Producing and distributing printed materials (e.g. quarterly newsletters; publicity materials; parish resources) 

• Maintaining and developing JRS UK’s digital presence (e.g. website; social media; e-updates) 

• Capturing and managing digital assets (such as audio, photographs, and videos)

• Developing content for JRS UK’s website, newsletters, and social media – scoping and drafting content that champion refugee voices, shares our work, or engages supporters in our advocacy 

• Analysing web traffic and social media engagement to inform future activity 

3. Appeals 

• Supporting the delivery of JRS UK’s three direct-mail appeals (Advent, Lent, World Day of Migrants and Refugees) and our annual legacy appeal by: 

  • Researching and drafting content 

  • Curating and segmenting data 

  • Sourcing and producing visuals 

4. Trust fundraising  

• Stewarding relationships with some small and medium sized trusts 

• Drafting and submiting grant applications and reports

JRS UK is recruiting a full-time Senior Fundraising and Communications Officer, responsible for helping to build our support base, especially among the Catholic community. 

This is a senior role, reporting to the Head of Communications, Fundraising and Advocacy and working closely with the Fundraising and Communications Manager. It will involve developing and delivering our strategy for recruiting supporters in parishes and other settings, as well as delivering a range of fundraising initiatives including our challenge events programme. We are seeking someone with a proven track-record in fundraising and community outreach, as well as a good understanding of the Catholic community in the UK.

Job description 

1. Developing and leading JRS UK’s parish engagement plan: 

• Strategic development of JRS UK’s long-term approach towards engaging parishes in our mission 

• Arranging and delivering fundraising appeals, talks, and engagement with parish groups 

• Ensuring that parishes supporting our mission are kept up to date with our work and opportunities to get involved 

• Building sustainable relationships with at least 20 parishes annually by year two

2. Expanding JRS UK’s outreach in the Catholic and wider Christian community: 

• Identifying and delivering opportunities to share our mission with others and involve them in our work including:

                  i. representing JRS UK at national events 

                  ii. leading our engagement with other Jesuit organisations and Catholic organisations such as the National Justice and Peace Network

                  iii. Producing resources tailored to different audiences such as Catholic youth groups, Justice and Peace groups, and non-churchgoing Catholics 

3. Leading recruitment of regular donors: 

• Utilising the opportunities outlined here to engage new regular/committed supporters

• Recruiting at least 120 new regular supporters annually by year 2

• Working with the Fundraising and Communications Manager on our process for welcoming and stewarding regular supporters 

4. Leading our challenge events programme: 

• Recruiting and stewarding our teams for the TCS London Marathon, London Landmarks Half Marathon, and Vitaly 10k ensuring all participants are supported, equipped, and celebrated 

• Keeping past participants up to date with our work and the impact of their support 

• Promoting opportunities for supporters to undertake their own fundraising events

• Raising a net income of £20,000 annually through challenge events by year 2

Other responsibilities  

• Working with the Fundraising and Communications Manager on our schools and universities engagement plan

• Ensuring good quality supporter records are kept in compliance with data processing requirements 

• Periodic management of interns or volunteers 

• Other duties as required by the Head of Communications, Fundraising and Advocacy

We are almost two years into our ambitious organisational strategy, and this is an exciting moment to join Cycling UK as our Senior Fundraising Officer. Cycling UK’s public fundraising programme is at a pivotal stage of development. As our Senior Fundraising Officer, you will lead the development and optimisation of multi-channel fundraising activity, using data, insight and testing to grow income, improve supporter value and expand reach into new audiences. The role is responsible for individual giving, challenge events, community-led fundraising (including virtual challenges), lottery and raffles.
 
You don’t need to be a cyclist to work at Cycling UK, but you do need to have a strong commitment to our work. This is a senior role with responsibility for driving income growth, campaign performance and audience development across Cycling UK’s public fundraising programme. The role plays a key part in building long-term supporter relationships and strengthening Cycling UK’s public fundraising capability. As our Senior Fundraising Officer you will lead the development of a more relationship-led approach to fundraising, building pipelines, improve supporter experience, and deliver the organisation’s new fundraising strategy.
