Job Title: IRIS Bromley Senior Advocate Educator

About the role:  We are recruiting a Senior Advocate Educator to work closely with GP practices in Bromley borough. Delivering the philanthropy plan​

• Manage the philanthropy programme at Bookmark, working with the Head of Fundraising to grow the major donor portfolio within the wider strategy​
• Lead a team of three to deliver on the fundraising strategy, providing direction, support and guidance. Line manage the Philanthropy Manager and support their professional development ​

About the position 

This is an exciting opportunity to create change at scale, informing and promoting a practical transition to plant-based diets, in order to reduce the number of animals suffering in factory farms. Part of our Farmed Animal Campaigns team, the role will work to increase the quality and availability of plant-based options with major caterers and universities in the UK, impacting hundreds of thousands of meals daily. 

This role also includes an opportunity to support the delivery of a campaign to end the use of farrowing crates, one of the worst forms of cruelty to farmed animals in the UK today. In this role you will support the Senior Manager for Farmed Animal Campaigns to create public-facing campaign assets, and develop compelling research to underpin our policy and industry engagement.

Role purpose

Compass is a service designed to support adults (18 years and over) in H&F and Hounslow. The service provides support with welfare benefits, debt, housing and well-being/peer support groups/workshops.

The role of the Information and Advice Worker will be to provide advice, guidance and customer representation to H&F and Hounslow residents living with mental health problems. Advice issues may include, housing, benefits, council tax, debt, signposting etc.

The successful candidate will deliver support to enquirers and manage a caseload of individuals as agreed with the project manager. In addition to advice casework, the Advice Worker will also be expected to assist onboarding referrals to the service when needed.

The successful candidate will be required to work alongside other caseworkers and volunteers supporting on the project and report to the project manager.

The Advice Worker will be required to work within the Advice Quality Standard framework (AQS), and adhere to Mind’s policies and procedures.

Due to the nature of the work, if successful, you will need to have an up-to-date DBS check completed prior to undertaking unsupervised client work.  

Place of work

The Advice Worker will be required to work both from home and the Ealing, H&F and Hounslow office when necessary, alongside work in the community.

The Role:

As our Fundraiser, you will develop and lead our community fundraising strategy, aiming to raise £100,000. You’ll manage individual giving, lead events, engage with local businesses, and inspire community support. Your efforts will help us continue our vital work in Bedford.

What We’re Looking For:

Proven fundraising experience or a relevant qualification. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. A proactive and driven attitude. Local knowledge and a connection to the community. Flexibility to attend events outside normal hours. A car driver with access to a car. Your main fundraising responsibilities:

Individual Giving : To manage individual giving to increase regular donors and one off donations, stewarding existing donors to uplift average gifts.

Events : Working with the volunteer officer to lead on events to ensure income and exposure for SMART.

Corporates : To establish relationships with companies locally and nationally to increase income.

Community : To work with local organisations, delivering talks and inspiring gifts and donations, monetary or goods in kind. Stewarding friends of SMART groups.

Digital : To manage all aspects of online fundraising, across our website, CRM and social media platforms.

Appeals : To manage our annual winter appeal, creating new opportunities for support.

Marketing : To work with the Business Team to create inspiring campaigns and marketing materials.

Reporting : To create meaningful reports to help further support and donations.

Essential Criteria :

• A minimum of a level 3 qualification in a relevant fundraising, marketing, media, event management or business qualification. OR A minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a fundraiser in the charitable sector.
• A proactive attitude, with the ability to carry out projects through to completion and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage people at all levels.
• Demonstrable experience of building and maintain relationships to support fundraising.
• Demonstrated ability to gain sponsorship deals.
• Demonstrated experience in volunteer recruitment and management.
• Demonstrated understanding of the issues facing homeless/rough sleeping individuals.
• Demonstrable ability to meet financial targets.
• Strong administration skills.
• An understanding of HR processes with regard to volunteers (including recruitment).
• Good organisational and project management skills.
• Good working knowledge of a range of computer software packages. including (but not limited to) Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and CRM tools.
• Ability to manage time effectively & multiple, sometimes conflicting priorities.
• Demonstrate an empathic and adaptable approach to individuals with complex needs.
• Car driver and access to a car.
• Flexibility to work outside of normal office hours.

Who we are looking for 

We are seeking a Database Support Officer to join our fundraising team.

We care about building lasting relationships with our 21,000 active supporters and our database is critical in helping us to do that. For the right person, this is an opportunity to support our charity in using data to achieve our mission - to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to take responsibility for the delivery of several key functions within the Data Services team. You will be responsible for the importing of data into the database, providing contact data to JDRF teams to support and promote campaigns, direct mail, community engagement, major donor giving and challenge events, whilst providing database support and guidance to users, including providing training.

You’ll have knowledge of a relational database, excellent attention to detail and be skilled and comfortable in building good working relationships with colleagues and external suppliers.

You’ll join a small but friendly and driven team at an exciting time as we implement our new Data strategy to transform how we use data to engage our supporters.
