About you:
This is a terrific opportunity to play a fundamental role as Referral Service Project Manager at Muscular Dystrophy UK’s as we pilot a new referral system to ensure timely, holistic, and emotionally supportive care for individuals and families affected by muscle-wasting and weakening conditions.

About Finance at Hope into Action
The finance function of Hope into Action is small team comprising the Finance Manager, the Finance Administrators (job-share) and a volunteer reporting to the Head of Operations. It is largely paperless and supports our 44 staff with accounts payable and receivable functions. It works in conjunction with the other departments to deliver timely, accurate and strategic financial information for both the Executive Team and the Board of Trustees.
About the role
The Finance Manager is a key role in enabling Hope into Action fulfil its vision of every church lovingly making a home for those experiencing homelessness.
The role is broad ranging; from managing the Finance Administrators, supporting their work when needed and also producing the monthly management accounts within our target of 10 working days from the month end.
In addition, you will support the year end work by producing the schedules required by auditors, take a lead in the annual budgeting process, produce the biannual investor statements and compile the Gift Aid returns.
You will be expected to meet regularly with budget holders to help them achieve their targets and/or devise a plan to bring them back on track.

We are looking for a self-motivated person with a passion for our work, tenants, staff, churches and mission. You will be adaptable and equally comfortable with bank reconciliations as writing a commentary on the management accounts. Roughly, 50% of our homes are in our ‘line-managed cities’ (Peterborough, Norwich, Nottingham, Cambridge), the other 50% are found across a further 30+ towns which we franchise into.

About the role
We are recruiting for a strategic, results driven Operations Transformation Manager (Scientific Research), to join our Programme Management team and play a pivotal role in driving operational transformation across the organisation.
As an Operations Transformation Manager - Scientific Research, (known internally as a Senior Project Manager: Operations), you will lead cross‑functional strategic projects that strengthen the Institute’s operational effectiveness and support world‑class scientific research. You’ll take ownership of end to end project delivery, from scoping and planning through to implementation and evaluation, using your analytical skills to identify issues, propose solutions, and manage risks and dependencies.
Working closely with colleagues across operations, science, and corporate services, you will design and deliver improvements that enhance processes, reduce risk, and introduce smarter, more efficient ways of working. Strategy Development
- Develop and deliver an ambitious legacy and in-memory giving strategy and operational plan, driving sustainable income growth and achieving KPIs.
- Develop and implement associated objectives, workplans and KPIs to track progress.

Management of Legacy Programme
- Responsible for ensuring legacy programme meets annual targets, with appropriate stretch targets in place.
- Work collaboratively across all Income streams, Communications and Impact to drive growth in the identification and cultivation of new legacy pledgers.
- Organise legacy events to support cultivation and stewardship of legacy givers.
- Work with Retail to embed legacy messaging in our charity shops and use in‑store activity to grow awareness and legacy leads.
- Provide exceptional stewardship of legacy pledgers individually and collectively, through the development and implementation of a legacy stewardship programme.
- Sensitively and expertly co-ordinate with the legacy administration function (which is outsourced), including regular communication with our professional legacy advisor, exploring and initiating stewardship and impact reporting activities.
- Collaborate on and personally take steps to maximise existing initiatives such as Gifts in Will month and identify new opportunities to market legacies and grow pledgers.
- Lead on developing and leading initiatives to improve awareness of legacies amongst charity staff, volunteers, charity shop customers and the Board.

Role:

You will lead on the development of our newly implemented learning system, our evaluation framework and monitoring and developing our apprenticeship scheme. Alongside your job share partner and the Deputy Director of People & Culture, you will help develop our new learning strategy.
You will be part of a supportive People & Culture team committed to positive change and continuous improvement. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to shape meaningful development initiatives that help colleagues grow and ensure Refuge remains a great place to work.
