Keep Us on Track: You'll be organising all the important meetings for our trustees and advisors, making agendas, and keeping actions and decisions logs, so we never miss a beat. You’ll make sure that everything we do follows our rules and the law.
Watch Our Progress: You'll keep an eye on our goals, collecting info on how many people we're helping, how our events are going, and how we're managing our money. Then you’ll put this all into monthly and annual reports that help us understand if we're on the right path.
Help Us Improve: You'll present feedback from the people we serve and our team, gathered by the programme and vertical leads, to find ways we can do better. You're all about using what we learn to make sure Barawak keeps growing stronger and helping more people.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Governance and Compliance Oversight: Ensure that all activities within Barawak adhere to the highest standards of governance and compliance, as set by our trustees and in accordance with relevant regulations and laws. Develop and maintain a comprehensive set of policies and procedures that are the foundation of our operational excellence.
2. Secretariat Functions: Act as the primary point of contact for trustees and advisors, managing communications, preparing meeting agendas, and ensuring the accurate recording of actions and decisions. Your meticulous attention to detail and planning will ensure the smooth running of board meetings and the timely dissemination of information.
3. Performance Reporting: Lead the development and implementation of a robust performance reporting framework. You will work closely on behalf of the trustees, with the advisors, programme and vertical leads to establish and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), providing insights and reports that drive strategic decisions and demonstrate our impact to stakeholders and the community we serve.
4. Cross-functional Coordination: Facilitate and report on the monthly programme reviews with the Board of Trustees, quarterly advisory meetings, and annual general meetings. Your role involves supporting the programme and verticals leads to synthesize information from the services and verticals to provide a cohesive picture of Barawak's progress and challenges.
5. Continuous Improvement: Champion the use of feedback mechanisms, including surveys and community input, to refine our programmes and initiatives. You will play a critical role in reviewing and adapting our strategies based on performance data, ensuring continuous improvement in our pursuit of excellence.

Role Summary
As the grants officer, you will work closely with the fundraising team and the academic team, to write proposals and apply for funding. This will involve research into grants offered by trusts, foundations and institutions, identifying which opportunities Roots Academy would be eligible for, and playing a key role in developing proposals for grant applications.
Key tasks
- Research:
○ Research trusts, foundations, institutions and other funding bodies that offer funding for Islamic education, BAME education, other faith based or inter-faith work, building community cohesion, or other areas which would be applicable to Roots Academy.
○ Identify key funding opportunities and calls for applications.
- Grant Writing and Coordination:
○ Plan and oversee the proposal development process, working closely with the academic team to collate relevant planning and impact information for proposal narrative, and with the finance team to prepare budget requirements.

The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is recruiting for a Trustee (Treasurer) and wants to hear what you could offer.
You will support our Board of Trustees, Youth Advisory Group, Chief Executive Officer and Leadership Team in achieving our strategic Ambitions. You will join our 10-strong Board of Trustees, responsible for keeping the charity on track to make sure the best outcomes for young people are always delivered.
The full Board meets four times a year with five committees (Finance and Investment; Governance; Fundraising; HR and Personnel; and Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging) overseeing and ensuring the ongoing impartial governance of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust. Meetings are usually held in London or Southampton (travel expenses can be reimbursed) and the option to join digitally is always available. Some support outside of meetings is required, and we ask Trustees to commit to approximately 1/2 a day per month. With this role’s Treasurer responsibilities, additional support to the CEO and Bookkeeper will be required around the annual audit (usually March-June). The role is unpaid.

Action for Stammering Children (ASC) is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and suitably qualified person to join our Trustee Board as Treasurer to replace our current Treasurer who has sadly come to the end of his term.
Who are Action for Stammering Children?
Action for Stammering Children is the UK charity for children and young people who stammer, their families, and the communities who support them. We are a small charity, founded in 1989, but one that punches above its weight and with Dr Ria Bernard, who joined us as Chief Executive in 2022, we have big ambitions!
We’re here to make sure that every child who stammers has the support, respect and confidence to live the life they want to lead.
We support and empower parents, caregivers and professionals; facilitate and champion research; and campaign for changes in policy and societal attitudes
What do we do?
Information, community and support
We provide resources, advice and guidance for children and young people who stammer, their families, and the professionals who support them.
Changing policies and attitudes
We make sure the voices of children and young people who stammer are heard. We work with politicians and other decision makers to ensure the unique needs of children who stammer are reflected in public policy. But we know we can’t stop there. That’s why we campaign to challenge prejudices and misconceptions, seeking to change how society treats stammering and promote acceptance.
Championing research
We support and promote research into childhood stammering in order to build understanding and feed into our advocacy work, informing positive changes in policy and practice.
Our team
ASC currently has a staff team of three (one of whom is part-time) but we hope shortly to recruit a part-time book-keeper and an events co-ordinator, in order to be able to deliver on our ambitious strategic objectives.
Our Board of Trustees has been chaired by Dame Jane Roberts since 2021. With a number of trustees having come to the end of their term, we have had a number of trustees join the board recently including a new Company Secretary and two new trustees who had previously been members of ASC’s Youth Panel. With the Chair, the Company Secretary has been reviewing our governance to ensure that we conduct ourselves in line with best practice in charity governance. The Youth Panel is made up of young people who themselves stammer and who inform our strategic direction as well as engage in projects of their own. Our Annual Report for 2022-23 is available on the Charity Commission website, in addition to Trustees’ Reports for previous years.
Executive and Non-Executive, we are a professional but friendly bunch who would extend a warm welcome to a new Treasurer as well as ensure that there was a generous handover period with the current Treasurer.
Who are we looking for as Treasurer?
We would like to attract a qualified accountant, perhaps still working, perhaps recently retired. You might have a personal connection to stammering but this is not required. Your interest, enthusiasm and experience are the most important.

Purpose

- To oversee arrangements for risk management and ensure that these are adequate to organisational need, governance requirements and legal obligations.
Main responsibilities:
- Oversee the framework of internal controls and, in conjunction with the Company Secretary and Chair, the charity’s policies, procedures and delegated responsibilities in line with good governance, legal and regulatory requirements
- Oversee and review the preparation of budgets, management accounts and the annual financial statements, ensuring that they are brought regularly and in a timely manner to the Board

At BTO, we are fortunate to have a fantastic and committed Board of Trustees and we are now looking for two new trustees to join us from 2025 on an initial 4 year term. BTO Trustees work with the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Leadership Team to enable our organisational strategy,and to manage and administer the charity effectively, bringing a range of valuable expertise from their own knowledge and experience.
Trustee vacancy 1 Regional Representative
We are pleased to offer an opportunity for a BTO Regional Representative to contribute to the work of BTO’s Board and to Chair our Regional Network Committee, the committee meets 4 times a year. In this important role, as well as undertaking the responsibilities of a Trustee, you will ensure the network is represented at both committee and Board level, working collaboratively and supportively with BTO staff and the wider network to ensure the network is effective and enabled.

Trustee vacancy 2 Safeguarding and Inclusion
We are seeking someone to bring their knowledge and experience in the areas of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and safeguarding to BTO and our Board of Trustees and to Chair our Governance, Safeguarding and Inclusion committee which meets 4 times a year. BTO is undertaking significant work in the area of EDI, and safeguarding is a critical part of the way we work. Alongside the responsibilities of a trustee, this is an important role that requires working closely and collaboratively with staff, the committee and BTO Board to apply your knowledge and experience within a BTO context. We are looking for applicants with a range of experience across both or either area of EDI and Safeguarding, with a willingness to demonstrate a commitment to both.

The role of a Trustee
Board members have overall legal responsibility for BTO, ensuring financial, regulatory and monitoring performance. BTO provides induction and training opportunities to all Trustees to support them in fulfilling their role. Trustees have the opportunity to contribute to discussions, identify key issues and provide insight, ideas and encouragement on various topics, all of which help BTO to achieve its vision and mission.

Time Commitment
Being a trustee is a commitment and we aim to be upfront about what it involves. We provide a calendar of meetings and engagements to all trustees at the start of the year. As an overview, annual meetings and engagements include 5 Board meetings, 1 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and sub committee meetings if you are interested in serving on a subcommittee. There will also be an induction period which takes approximately 10 hours in total but some parts are done independently at times that suit you (like the reading and eLearning).
Expenses
This is a voluntary, unpaid position. Travel and accommodation associated with attending meetings can either be arranged in advance by BTO (so there is no expenditure on the part of the Trustee), or expenses can be reimbursed afterwards.

What will you be doing?
Job Summary:
As a safeguarding trustee, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our service users. You will work closely with our staff and volunteers to implement safeguarding policies and procedures, provide guidance and support, and help to create a safe and inclusive environment for all individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic
- Consider the organisation’s strategic plans and make sure they reflect safeguarding legislation and expectations of the Charities Commission.
- Work with the CEO and DSL regularly to review and ensure charity policies are creating a safer culture and keeping people safe.
- Check the organisation’s risk register reflects safeguarding risks properly and plans sensible measures to take.
- Make sure there is space on the agenda for safeguarding reports and help trustees understand and challenge those reports.
Effective policy and practice
- Make sure there is a 6 monthly review of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Understand the monitoring your charity does to see whether policies and procedures are effective.
- Learn from case reviews locally and nationally, to improve your organisation’s policies/procedures.
- Oversee safeguarding allegations against staff or volunteers, together with CEO and DSL.
- Be a point of contact for staff or volunteers if someone wishes to complain about a lack of action in relation to safeguarding concerns.
Creating the right culture
- Champion safeguarding throughout the organisation.
- Attend relevant safeguarding training events (virtually)
- Support the trustees in developing their individual and collective understanding of safeguarding.
- Support regular safeguarding updates for staff, volunteers and beneficiaries.
- Make sure you have ways of gathering the views of staff and volunteers in relation to safeguarding and sharing these with the board.
What are we looking for?
- Qualifications and Experience:
- 5+ years experience in safeguarding, ideally within a mental health/charity setting (essential)
- Previous trustee/governance experience is not essential but would be desirable.
- Knowledge of relevant safeguarding legislation/policies/procedures.
- Commitment to promoting positive body image and mental well-being.
- Understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals with body image issues and related disorders would be beneficial.
- Skills: Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and decision-making abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment: Ability to commit time for board meetings, committee involvement, and preparation work. Expected to attend quarterly board meetings and contribute to special projects as needed

The Infection Prevention Society are recruiting a volunteer to join our Board of Trustees as our new Finance Trustee.
Our charity is about to begin a period of transformational change. We are in the process of recruiting our first staff-team, and are now looking for an excellent Finance Trustee to work with the Board of Trustees and chair our Audit & Finance Committee, supporting our new six-strong team (which will include a CEO and a Financial Controller who is an experienced and qualified charity accountant).

Our current Board of Trustees are excited for our future and our members are supportive of the changes to the Society’s management structure. For the past year we have worked closely with our Interim Managing Director and our members, Branches, Special Interest Groups and Business Groups to develop our new strategy - Working together to prevent infection.
The aim of the Infection Prevention Society (IPS) is to inform, promote and sustain evidence-based infection prevention policy and practice to create a health and care system where no person's health and wellbeing is harmed by preventable infection.
Our broad membership includes infection control practitioners, scientists, clinicians and industry experts and we support our members via branches across the UK and Ireland. We deliver educational opportunities to support best practice in infection prevention and control through an annual conference, study days, our academic journal, and research activity. We support our members with a competency framework and credentialing system, international engagement opportunities and product evaluation services for industry.
The IPS has an independent Board of Trustees who are responsible for governance and risk management functions of the society. These include developing long-term strategy, assuring financial stability and compliance with governing documents, and evaluating performance. The Board works with the Management Executive Group (MEG) who are responsible for leading and managing the business activity of the Society.
Who are we looking for?
Our new trustee must have skills in both of the following areas:
· Finance
· Strategic leadership
The trustee will chair our Audit and Finance Committee and as such will need to be a qualified accountant with a CCAB recognised qualification.
As a Trustee you will be able to contribute to the work of the society by:
· Shaping the strategic direction
· Making decisions that enhance its influence
· Assuring good governance of the Society
We are looking for applicants who really want to make a positive impact on our organisation. They should have strategic vision and good judgement, an ability to think creatively, and willingness to contribute opinions and ideas. A willingness to challenge is also desirable. An understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship is desirable although Trustees induction and training would be available. Previous experience as a Trustee is also desirable but not essential. Although the trustee positions are unpaid, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Trustees induction and training would be available.
The Board of Trustees hold a minimum of four meetings per year and trustees are also expected to attend the Annual General meeting which is held in the autumn. The Audit and Finance Committee hold a minimum of four meetings per year. These meetings will primarily be held virtually. The time commitment is around 4 hours once a quarter.
