About The Azaylia Foundation

The Azaylia Foundation was founded by Ashley Cain and Safiyya Vorajee after the passing of their eight-month old daughter, Azaylia. Childhood cancer is the number one killer of children in the UK, yet it receives less than 3% of cancer research funding. Backed by a large community of supporters, The Azaylia Foundation is committed to reversing this systemic underfunding through advocacy, PhD research grants, and family support for treatments not freely available via the NHS. Our flagship programme, The Azaylia PhD Scholarship Program, aims to fund 20 new childhood cancer PhDs and their research over a period of 5 years.

The Hardman Trust supports people on long prison sentences to take their next steps in life. As the Head of Service Delivery your role is to make this a reality by overseeing the delivery of our operational programmes and services. You will be responsible for helping the team to the successfully deliver our four main areas of work:

Over time, it will include other products and services developed to meet the needs of people on long sentences. This role has a strong focus on team management and development, helping us build staff capacity across our operations to deliver our goals.

Job description

1. Lead and manage the service delivery team

• Ensure excellent individual performance through regular one-to-one line management.

Main duties and responsibilities

Communications (30% of work)

• Write and publish short regular newsletters for GRP’s stakeholders, including portfolio donors, wealth adviser partners and donors to operating costs.
• Manage and publish weekly content for GRP’s social media accounts, including LinkedIn and Instagram.
• Manage and curate content for GRP website, ensuring information is accurate, up-to-date and maximising opportunities to attract new donors and supporters.
• Coordinate with GRP’s third-party web developer on website maintenance and regularly re-evaluate site structure/functions to maximise its efficacy and usability.

Event planning (30% of work)

• Lead coordinator for in-person and virtual events, in line with events strategy devised by Strategic Relationships Manager.

Develop and manage Marketing and Communications strategy

Responsible for supporting YBF members through training, funding opportunities and grant applications and sharing knowledge and experience with over 200 members.

As a key member of JW3's Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will lead, manage and motivate the small but mighty JW3 Development fundraising team, currently including: Head of Philanthropy, Trust & Foundations Manager, Individual Giving & Legacies Manager, and Fundraising Coordinator. You will work closely with the CEO, Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) and Trustees, to accelerate the growth of fundraising across a diversified range of income streams to achieve long-term, sustainable income growth.

You will have responsibility for further developing and implementing an ambitious fundraising strategy in line with the organisational objectives and priorities. You will work closely with key professional and lay stakeholders - including Trustees - and will be responsible for initiating, developing and sustaining productive relationships with a range of new and existing donors; identifying and developing new prospects; creating and implementing an effective stewardship programme and initiatives; overseeing budgets; and proactively managing individual relationships. You will have the proven ability to build strong personal networks, and to engage and influence senior stakeholders both internally and externally.

You’ll develop a data-led culture, embed best practice in data governance, and ensure our data is both ethically managed and compliant with GDPR. You’ll also work closely with colleagues in IT, Insight and Impact, and Digital and Design to build a well-managed, joined-up data ecosystem that underpins everything from our day-to-day operations to our long-term strategy.

We’re looking for a values-led leader with strong expertise in data architecture, data management and governance. You’ll have experience leading and implementing data strategies and frameworks, and a passion for using data to create positive social change. Knowledge of financial insecurity and the issues facing people in poverty is useful, but not essential.

Ataxia is the umbrella term for a group of neurological conditions and Ataxia UK is the UK’s leading ataxia support and research charity. Our Services team is dedicated to supporting everyone affected by ataxia in the UK to live their best possible life. We offer a Helpline and Advocacy service that provides trusted information, tailored advice, and one-to-one support to help people access their rights. Alongside this, we deliver a range of activities, engagement opportunities, and volunteer-led initiatives designed to bring the ataxia community together and reduce feelings of isolation. 

About the Role    

We are looking for a Helpline Officer to join our small and supportive Services Team. This role is central to delivering high-quality information and advice via our Helpline, and to supporting and working alongside our trained Helpline Volunteers. 

The Helpline is a trusted source of support for people affected by ataxia, offering clear, accessible information on a wide range of issues including welfare benefits, accessing grants, and access to health and social care. The role also contributes to the wider development of our Helpline and Advocacy services, helping ensure those who need more in-depth support are connected to the right resources. 

This is a part-time role, working 14 hours per week to help deliver our Helpline service. The Helpline currently operates Monday to Thursday from 10:30am to 2:30pm, with plans to extend these hours in the future.

You have experience providing advice and information, and you're confident talking to people who may be dealing with difficult situations. You’re comfortable working on your own and as part of a small team. Experience with helplines, volunteers, or long-term health conditions would be an advantage.

The Debt Advice Team at Toynbee Hall provides crucial support to individuals and families struggling with financial burdens. Funded by the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS), this team delivers expert guidance and practical solutions to help clients manage and reduce their debt. The team's advisors are trained to navigate complex financial situations, offering tailored advice that empowers clients to regain control of their finances. Their work is vital in fostering financial resilience within the community, ensuring that individuals have the tools they need to achieve long-term financial stability.

Scope of role

The Debt Technical Supervisor is responsible for supporting Debt Advisers to ensure the delivery of accurate, effective, and tailored advice to over-indebted clients. This role involves conducting debt-advice interview observations, reviewing case files, and identifying training needs for advisers. The Debt Technical Supervisor provides real-time support and constructive feedback, helping advisers navigate complex cases and ensuring they have access to the necessary resources and information. Additionally, the role includes auditing delivery partner organisations to prepare them for external reviews and supporting them in meeting compliance and quality standards. The supervisor will collaborate with the Quality Assurance Manager to promote best practices, address risks, and contribute to the continuous professional development of advisers.

Key Responsibilities

Support Debt Advisers in their roles and ensure that the advice provided to over- indebted Clients is accurate, effective and tailored to individuals’ circumstances.

• Conducting debt-advice interview observations.
• Undertaking debt advice file reviews.
• Identifying advisers’ soft skill and technical training needs.
• Providing constructive feedback, and pastoral support, to advisers and their line managers.
• Providing real-time support to advisers, which will include but is not limited to providing guidance in complex matters and provide advisers with sources of information.

Support, and regularly audit delivery partner organisations, ensuring that they are prepared for external reviews of their service in line with the Grant Agreement.

• Ensure partner organisation are kept up to date with the requirements for external assessments.
• Supporting partner organisations with the preparation and review of files and documentation ahead of an external assessment.
• Support partner organisations with the implementation of any remedial actions following an external review and support advisors to identify suitable training to improve areas highlighted.

Ensure project compliance and quality requirements are achieved

• Working closely with the Quality Assurance Mangers to ensure Advisors based at delivery partners have a good awareness and understanding of the quality and service delivery requirements and have active involvement in the delivery of partnership events related to both quality improvement and CPD.
• Working collaboratively to share good practice in performance and quality improvement and to progress key priority areas of work.
• Escalating risks promptly and appropriately and contributing to wider monitoring and reporting requirements.

Contribute to Team

• Work to an agreed work-plan meeting targets and milestones
• Prioritise and manage your own workload.
• Be an active member of the team, identifying opportunities for your development. Work in collaboration with our funder, and with colleagues from across their other funded organisations, contributing to key projects and meetings.
• Compliance with Toynbee Hall policies and procedures, including health and safety. Demonstrate financial efficiency and value for money throughout work.
