Job description

About Us:

 

The National Lottery Community Fund is the largest community funder in the UK - we’re proud to award money raised by players of The National Lottery  to communities across the UK. Last year alone we gave out over half a billion pounds (£508.5 million) of National Lottery funding to over 11,000 community projects across the UK, enabling even more people and communities to bring their ideas and ambitions to life. We support a wide range of health, educational, environmental, and charitable projects with grants ranging from as little as £500 to multi-million-pound programmes. 86% of our new grants were for less than £10k.

At the heart of everything we do is the belief that when people are in the lead, communities thrive. We have changed how we work across the Fund to help us serve people and communities more effectively, working flexibly and on their terms; working closer to communities.

About the Role:

 

In this role you will develop into a key support person for the procurement team through learning sound administrative practices and procurement systems upkeep and use. Your development will lead to supporting the team administratively including contracts, tenders and any other documents used in the procurement process are retained in a manner compliant with internal document retention policies, Government and internal/external audit requirements.

An essential element of the role will be to liaise with internal colleagues, external customers and organisations as may be necessary. Learning and influencing best practice procurement skills and approaches will develop your expertise and experience as a procurement professional.

Your progression in the role will lead to providing appropriate procurement advice and guidance to internal colleagues, shared service clients and key stakeholders and acting as the first line of contact for the team is central to your role.

Of course, you’ll also need to work within the Fund’s policies and procedures and the necessary legislation, and in a way that is in line with our vision and principles. This will also develop your public sector procurement regulations knowledge as a result.  If the role is based in Wales, or supports customers or colleagues in Wales, an understanding of Welsh language legislation and the Welsh Language Standards of the Fund is required.

Contract Type: 2-year fixed term contract

Hours: 37 Hours per week, flexible working considered

Interview Date: September/October first stage interview dates

Essential Criteria:

 

  • including Level 4 CIPS qualification and have a positive attitude towards learning and self-development during the day to day requirements of the role
  • Be able to acquire the broad range of skills, knowledge and understanding required in the Apprenticeship
  • Shows initiative and an appetite to work in the Procurement profession with a commercial mindset

Desirable Criteria:

 

  • Be willing to adapt to different work roles within the Procurement team
  • Be willing to communicate with a variety of people and work with others
  • Numeracy and literacy skills, Information and communication technology skills
  • Have an appetite to problem solving and logical thinking to improve processes and find solutions to commercial challenges
  • Be prepared to travel to other TNLCF offices, supplier sites, or network events as appropriately required to deliver particular tasks
