We’re looking for a Policy Officer who will make a difference to health and social care policy for people with arthritis.
Within the Chief Executive’s Office, the UK Advocacy and Health Intelligence Department are focused on creating lasting change. We identify creative policy solutions in response to the challenges people with arthritis face. We influence decision-makers through stakeholder engagement, public affairs activity and by campaigning alongside people with arthritis. We have expertise across health and care services, public health, and employment policy. We also work in collaboration to influence medical research and data policy and play an active role in several cross-sector groups.
About the role
The purpose of this role is to drive policy development across our policy priority areas. The Policy Officer will lead on specific policy projects, commissioning research, developing policy positions, and producing reports and consultation responses.  
This role will cover a broad range of issues across one of our strategic goals – prevention and diagnosis; access to treatment; and living well with arthritis. Our approach considers the needs of people of all ages who have arthritis.
The Policy Officer will also contribute to the wider work of the team, working closely with colleagues in the Nations Teams, the Research Directorate and the wider charity, including by representing us on cross-sector policy groups, drafting briefings, and participating in events and conferences.

This is a grant funded role, fixed term for two years, with the opportunity for conversion to a permanent role should funding allow.
Main Purpose of the Role:
To provide proactive, emotional, and practical support to families and individuals affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) across Scotland. The role will focus on early engagement, wellbeing assessment, community building, and delivery of workshops and events, while ensuring accurate tracking of support outcomes and data.  
 
The successful candidate will also lead on support for young people living with Duchenne during 2 key transition points (primary to secondary school stage and moving into adulthood). They will work closely with the England-based Transitions Coordinator to deliver a joined-up programme of support across the UK. 
Specific Tasks:
1. Proactive Family Support
- Initiate contact with newly registered families within agreed timeframes (email within 3 working days, call within 7–10 working days)
 
- Contact to be made to all registered Action Duchenne members, knows to us in Scotland, to ensure the current support offer is clear
 
- Provide ongoing support tailored to individual needs, including emotional wellbeing, physical health, housing, financial security, self-esteem and respect, decision-making, social engagement, quality of life, and access to care
 
- Use the Action Duchenne Assessment Form and Action Plan to identify and respond to areas of concern
 
2. Transitions Support
· Lead transition support across all nations, with a focus on Scotland, for children and young people facing key life changes, including:
· Moving between educational settings such as primary to secondary
· Transitioning from paediatric to adult health services
· Changes in mobility and independence (e.g. transitioning to using powerchairs)
· You will lead, but expected to work collaboratively with the England-based Transition Coordinator to ensure consistency and continuity of support across the UK
· Develop resources, guidance, and workshops to support families through transitions
3. Wellbeing Tracking and Outcome Measurement
· Administer wellbeing questionnaires and record scores across key domains (e.g. physical health, emotional wellbeing, financial security)
· Collaborate with families to co-create action plans and track progress
· Ensure all data is entered into CRM (E-Tapestry or similar) within the allotted timeframe, i.e. immediately after or during the call.
4. Community Engagement and Event Delivery
· Organise and deliver regional meetups (minimum one per quarter)
· Facilitate support groups (virtual and in-person) for parents, young people, and extended family
· Support delivery of workshops and events aligned with programme schedule (e.g. music, life skills, employability)
5. Stakeholder Collaboration
· Liaise with external organisations including NHS care advisors and clinics, local authorities, counselling services, and other charities
· Represent Action Duchenne in Scotland and build relationships with local networks
6. Administration and Reporting
· Maintain accurate records of all interactions and support provided
· Contribute to quarterly reporting on activity delivery, capacity utilisation, and family impact
· Support development of CRM processes and service delivery improvements
7. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
· New contact acknowledgement email: within 3 working days
· New contact follow-up call: within 7–10 working days

Carer Wellbeing Workers provide invaluable services to help improve carers’ resilience and ensure they are supported to maintain their caring roles. They provide tailored information and advice, practical, emotional and planning support, peer opportunities, contingency planning, active listening and through partnership working are pro-active in the identification of carers.
Using experience of working with adults and families, a working knowledge and / or lived experience of social care and health, the postholder will use excellent communication and interpersonal skills to offer carers one-to-one and group support either face to face, via the telephone or using virtual video mediums such as Zoom or MS Teams.

Working to the Executive Director, you will interact with our decentralised finance, marketing and communications staff and volunteers.
Together, you will nurture Major Donor relationships and create and manage appropriate donor stewardship schemes and rationalise our income streams.
You’ll ensure grant reporting and management is kept on track whilst developing targeted proposals for new funding from sympathetic donors in the arena of Trusts and foundations.
You will work to support both our teaching and resourcing of meditation and the running of our retreat centre in Bonnevaux, near Poitiers in France.
An excellent writer with excellent financial and budgeting skills, you will be adept at pulling together relevant, succinct and compelling information for our donor reports and bids.

About The Role
As a Grants and Learning Officer, you’ll be helping us to deliver our ambitious, nationwide grants programme. We currently support over 500 grassroots organisations and 18-30 year old creatives, and have a busy grants cycle to manage, alongside ever-increasing numbers of applications.
This year, we’re building and migrating to a new grants database and you’ll play an integral role on the project team. In addition, you’ll manage an assigned portfolio of grants, and help with all aspects of the funding cycle. Job Purpose
To support the manager and deliver on the home and settle services across two hospitals, supporting the wider team, and provide leadership when necessary. You will work in collaboration with AUKEL, the hospitals, and other community health and social care colleagues.
The service supports people returning home after a stay in hospital, helping them to settle back at home, regain confidence and support with some practical tasks, e.g. shopping/cleaning. You will manage referrals, carry out assessments, and with the Manager, allocate service users to Discharge and Settle Worker caseloads. You will provide direct frontline support and co-ordinate visits to the service users’ home in preparation for their return home, as necessary. You will work collaboratively to lead and manage your team to support the smooth transition from hospital to home for service users. Job Purpose
The weekend Home & Settle Project Officer is responsible for responding to referrals received over the weekend from both Royal London Hospital & Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. You will work with the manager on Friday to deliver services and plan visits on the weekend for you to attend.  
The service supports people returning after a stay in hospital, helping them to settle back at home, regain confidence and support with some practical tasks, e.g. shopping/cleaning.  You will manage referrals, carry out assessments, and in liaison with the manager, allocate service users to Discharge and Settle Worker caseloads. You will provide direct frontline support and co-ordinate visits to the service users’ home in preparation for their return home. You will work collaboratively to lead and manage the weekend service to support the smooth transition from hospital to home for service users.  The service is time limited, up to 4 or 6 weeks, to adjust, build confidence, and settle back in their homes. 
Key Tasks
