As Senior Fundraiser, you will develop and implement the fundraising strategy to maximise trust and grant giving income and create a sustainable and diverse fundraising portfolio, with funding streams including major donors, trusts, foundations and other grant making bodies. You will maintain and develop existing relationships, whilst proactively identifying and approaching new funding partners in the UK, US and internationally. In addition, you will prepare well-written structured persuasive cases for support and targeted funding applications. Working with the wider team, you will develop new projects to inform funding applications. You will also ensure that fundraising is consistent with the charity's goals and ensure professional presentation of the charity to all funding sources.
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- Experience and successful track record of securing income from trusts, foundations and/or major donors.
- Experience of developing a fundraising strategy and income targets.
- Excellent writing skills with attention to detail and experience in preparing structured, engaging and successful grant applications.
- Financially literate with experience of navigating budgets specifically relating to projects.

Location: This role is a blend of working 3 days a week from our Loughborough office on the Loughborough University campus and working from home.
Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 per annum.

Overall Role:
As a member of the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams, the Chief Operating Officer is responsible for ensuring the charity’s internal functions run smoothly and effectively, with a particular emphasis financial strategy. The role focuses on making the best use of people, systems and resources across Finance, IT, Data & Technology, Compliance & Governance, HR & Safeguarding, and Business Support to maximise impact for children and young people.
Accountable for:
- Providing strategic financial leadership while working with senior leaders to optimise financial performance and governance.
- Building, nurturing and growing the charity’s delivery network of and registered delivery partners for Youth Sport Trust products and services
- Simple, streamlined and joined up internal systems and processes to ensure the charity is easy to work in, for, and with
- The performance of all internal support functions through line management of senior leaders.
- Operational delivery against the strategy and budget
- The development and use of performance metrics to drive operational performance,
- Providing tools and processes to help senior leaders monitor strategic progress.
- Strengthening the charity’s reputation for high quality, impactful services.
- Championing a culture, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Maximising the use of data, digital technology, AI, and cybersecurity to increase impact, efficiencies and resilience.
- Ensuring strong governance, regulatory compliance and risk management..
Qualifications
- CCAB qualified accountant
Experience
- Extensive proven operational leadership experience
- Experience of developing and strengthening systems and processes which support delivery and implementation of products and services.
- Experience in delivering strategic and operational financial leadership in a complex organisation
- Experience of leading the development of digital and business systems which have improved business performance.
- Experience at working as a member of a senior leadership team
- Experience of successfully managing a multi-functional team within an organisation of comparable size and complexity
- Strong governance experience of working within charity environments and establishing governance frameworks
- Experience in communication, influencing and advocacy both internally up to board level and with external stakeholders or partners
- Experience of leading and delivering effective business change
- Experience of successfully leading and inspiring a high performing team
- A previous track record of understanding the latest technology trends

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Director of Finance and IT with a health research charity, on a full-time (or part-time - 4 days per week), permanent basis. As Director of Finance and IT you will work closely with the CEO and Board of Trustees to maintain, and advise on, regulatory financial responsibilities for the charity. You will be responsible for ensuring effective strategic and operational financial planning, monitoring and reporting to enhance the decision-making processes of the charity and to ensure it complies with all statutory and external requirements and regulations.
Please note, there is hybrid working in place with this organisation with 2 days per week required in the office.
As Director of Finance and IT, you will:
- Provide financial leadership and oversight to support and guide decision making by the CEO and Board of Trustees
- Ensure the charity’s day-to-day financial processes and systems run effectively and efficiently
- Lead on all financial planning, reporting, including cashflows, budgets and forecasts (as required) and support the SLT on all aspects of financial planning for business cases, grant scenarios etc
- Prepare and organise end-of year files for the annual external audit, and act as the main liaison with the auditors throughout the audit
- Prepare management accounts for the CEO/SMT, Board and other stakeholders as required
- Maintain Xero accounting system, monitor cash flow and ensure due process is followed and all financial information is correctly coded
The successful applicant will:
- Have significant demonstrable experience in finance within the charity sector, in a similar role
- Be fully qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA etc)
- Have good working knowledge of the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP)
- Have experience of being responsible for financial management at a daily level as well as a strategic level
- Have experience with driving improvements in processes
- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
