Trust and Grants Manager

About the Role

This is a dynamic and rewarding role at the heart of the Fundraising Team, where you’ll help generate over £1.4 million each year to keep the Youth Zone running. You’ll lead on writing compelling bids and funding proposals that unlock both unrestricted income and targeted project support – from mental health to employability to sports and creative programmes.

You’ll have access to a wealth of impact data, real stories, and a ready-made case for support – and you’ll be encouraged to bring your creativity, energy and ambition to every application. You’ll collaborate with an experienced, passionate team and be supported by the Head of Fundraising & Communications, the CEO, and a dedicated Board of Trustees who believe deeply in what we do.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead on identifying, writing, and submitting high-quality funding applications to trusts, foundations, and statutory funders, securing both unrestricted income and project-specific funding aligned with strategic priorities
• Develop compelling proposals that articulate the impact of the Youth Zone’s work, leveraging live data, case studies, and feedback from youth workers to bring applications to life
• Work collaboratively across departments to ensure funding needs are clearly understood and prioritised, maintaining regular communication with delivery leads to shape project bids that reflect current and emerging needs
• Build and manage relationships with funders, developing stewardship plans that include timely reporting, in-person or virtual engagement, and opportunities for funder visits to the Youth Zone
• Act as a passionate advocate for the Youth Zone, representing the charity at networking events, funder meetings, and promotional visits, and supporting the wider fundraising team on campaigns and events when needed.

About You

You will have experience of:

• Writing successful funding applications or proposals, ideally in the voluntary or public sector, securing four- and five-figure gifts from trusts, foundations, or statutory sources
• Managing a fundraising pipeline or prospect list, from initial research through to application and stewardship, using a CRM system such as Salesforce to track progress and outcomes
• Collaborating across teams, particularly with delivery, finance, or impact colleagues, to gather information and develop compelling bids grounded in real-world delivery
• Producing high-quality donor reports, meeting deadlines and exceeding expectations through clear narrative, data, and case studies

About the Organisation

This is a brand-new locally run youth charity, set to provide thousands of young people with the opportunity to have fun, make new friends, try something new and feel safe. With community centric values and located in the heart of Grimsby, it will be an inspiring place for young people aged 8 – 19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs, to enjoy their leisure. The building is due to be completed in 2025.

As Assistant Librarian, you’ll be the first point of contact for staff seeking information, helping them access reliable evidence and resources that directly improve patient care, education, and research. By managing enquiries, literature searches, and training, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring Marie Curie staff are equipped with the latest knowledge to support people at the end of life and their families.

What you will do: 

• Act as the main contact for enquiries, delivering timely and customer-focused support. 
• Conduct professional health-related literature searches across biomedical databases. 
• Provide current awareness services and deliver information skills training. 
• Manage online journals, books, and subscriptions, ensuring resources are up to date. 
• Catalogue and classify library materials using national standards and the Heritage system. 
• Maintain and update the library’s intranet pages and resources. 
• Support volunteers working within the service. 
• Ensure compliance with copyright and intellectual property legislation. 

Key Criteria: 

• Postgraduate librarianship qualification or equivalent qualification (mandatory).

About the role

As Support Services Manager you will support the Lead Myeloma Information Specialist, the Peer Service Co-ordinator and Support Group Co-ordinator to deliver their respective services.  In addition, you will deliver personalised, empathetic, and accessible information and support to service users affected by myeloma and its related conditions (such as AL amyloidosis, smouldering myeloma, and MGUS).

You will need to work towards being an internal expert on myeloma, keeping aware of research and clinical developments, current opinions, guidelines and other initiatives in the field of myeloma and related conditions, including the pipeline of myeloma drugs.

As part of the role, you will monitor impact and ensure all services are running in accordance with Service Guidelines, including leading the submission to the Helplines Partnership for re-accreditation as required. You will lead the team in service improvements and new initiatives, working with colleagues from across the organisation to drive impactful changes.

How are staff supported to work remotely?

Friends of Ibba Girls School (FIGS), which supports Ibba Girls’ Boarding School in South Sudan, is seeking a highly experienced Director of Fundraising and Communications to develop its fundraising strategy, secure new donors, meet ambitious fundraising targets and raise awareness of and support for FIGS through a variety of communication methods.

Friends of Ibba Girls School, South Sudan (FIGS)

Friends of Ibba Girls School, South Sudan (FIGS) was set up in 2011 in response to a specific request from local community leaders to help them translate into reality their vision to build and develop a girls’ boarding school in South Sudan in order to enable girls to complete primary and secondary education rather than drop out of school due to poverty and family pressures.

FIGS has raised over £4.9 million over the last 10 years, particularly through relational fundraising from the wide network of individuals who donate through regular giving, mainly in the UK but also internationally.  Other sources of funds include schools, churches, trusts and foundations, corporates, and business philanthropists, as well as a yearly campaign through the Big Give Christmas Challenge.

FIGS has a committed and hardworking body of trustees, chaired by Chris Trott, former British Ambassador to South Sudan, and now British Ambassador to the Holy See based in the Vatican City, Rome.  The charity currently employs 2 staff who work on fundraising, communications and administration.

In 2023 FIGS Trustees commissioned Windle Trust International (a well-managed UK charity with a long track record of effective work in South Sudan and sub-Saharan Africa) to act as FIGS managing agents in South Sudan, and to provide professional, technical and management advice and support to Ibba Girls Boarding School (IGBS). 

Ibba Girls Boarding School (IGBS)

Ibba Girls Boarding School (IGBS) now educates over 300 primary and secondary school girls from across the whole of Western Equatoria State (an area the size of Scotland but less densely populated) and employs 42 staff (teachers, matrons, cooks, grounds maintenance, night guards and other support staff). The school is on a large, 100-acre green campus and provides not only high-quality teaching in the core subjects on the national curriculum, but also a wide range of co-curriculum subjects like drama, debating, sewing, and farming.

Since its opening in 2014, IGBS has become recognised as a tried and tested visible demonstration of the benefits of boarding school education in South Sudan, where most girls drop out from school before the end of primary and very few complete their secondary qualifications.  IGBS is making a substantial impact across South Sudan, by providing good quality “all-through” integrated girls’ schooling, for both primary and secondary girls, from any background and of any faith or none.

IGBS is achieving both tangible and intangible measures of success, including reduced drop out from school; excellent exam results; a safe, stimulating, happy and nurturing culture; empowering young women who can exercise leadership locally and nationally for this new nation (independent since 2011). IGBS is now attracting widespread recognition in South Sudan for lifting standards of teaching and learning, and acting as a beacon of light and hope, whose example can gradually ripple out to other schools across South Sudan. 

The Opportunity

This is a great moment of opportunity for a highly experienced fundraising and communications professional with a strong and demonstrable track record to play a crucial role (alongside a subgroup of trustees and two paid staff) in reviewing and refreshing FIGS’ fundraising strategy for the short, medium and longer term, and in raising FIGS’ profile through strategic communications. This will support FIGS to reach ambitious fundraising targets to allow us to increase the number of girls in the school to full capacity and implement multiple capital projects on the school campus over the next 5 years. The fundraising challenge also includes deepening and expanding FIGS’ donor base, while sustaining and engaging the large network of existing supporters and loyal donors, supported by effective communications and PR. You will lead and direct the fundraising work and will use your skills across a wide range of fundraising functions, including cultivating gifts from wealthy philanthropists, and through wills and bequests. You will also lead on delivering FIGS’ communications strategy, identifying opportunities to raise its profile with target audiences using a variety of relevant communications channels. You will have experience of digital and social media campaigns, and will oversee the development and dissemination of strategic communications materials in support of FIGS’ fundraising and profile-raising objectives. You will ideally have experience working on projects in fragile or developing contexts and an interest in education and gender equity.

There is plenty to enjoy in the varied work, where one can see visible results not only in FIGS’ fundraising targets, but also in the impact it has on the school, its students and staff, parents and communities across Western Equatoria State and across the nation of South Sudan.

Key Responsibilities

• To support the design and delivery of FIGS’ fundraising strategy and action plan, achieving or exceeding targets and KPIs, both financial and non-financial, as agreed with the Chair of FIGS Trustees, Treasurer and Chair of its fundraising sub-group
• To oversee and deliver FIGS’ communications strategy, and raise its profile with existing and new audiences through strategic communications and PR
• To widen the existing network of donors, based on relationship development and management
• To maintain active engagement with existing supporters and donors
• To identify and generate new fundraising opportunities, from the corporate and philanthropic sectors, as well as from other organizations, groups and individuals
• To generate a pipeline of activities across a range of fundraising streams
• To undertake PR and communications work in order to support the fundraising strategy
• To lead the design and distribution of PR and comms materials, including website, regular newsletter, leaflets, social media.
• To line manage FIGS fundraising and comms staff
• To produce progress reports for FIGS Trustees about fundraising in relation to targets and budget and make recommendations for future workstreams
• To attend key fundraising and supporter events to generate significant income, support and profile
• To act as an ambassador for FIGS
• To ensure fundraising and comms activities are in line with FIGS’ values and policies, relevant legislation and the Fundraising Regulator Code of Practice.

The selection process and how to apply 

The post can be undertaken on a full-time or part-time basis (where part-time is at least 24 hours a week).  Hours can be flexible by arrangement. The person will work mainly from home, liaising online with FIGS and WTI Trustees, staff, and volunteers and with the Board of Governors and Head Teacher of the school in South Sudan.

Some travel to fundraising and communications events in London and elsewhere will be needed. A three-year rolling contract will be offered in the first instance, with annual review and the potential for extension, subject to achievement of agreed performance measures and targets. The salary is in the range of £45-70K (or pro rata) depending on track record and experience.

Mind in Croydon is seeking to recruit a full time Independent Mental Health Advocate (IMHA)  to join our small, dedicated team of Independent Mental Health Advocates working to provide advocacy services to adults subjected to detention under the Mental Health Act in the London Borough of Croydon to ensure they understand, express and exercise their rights, and to enable them to access essential services. The advocacy team also provides Community Mental Health Advocacy for people who are informal patients in psychiatric hospital or living in the community and provides weekly advocacy service at two InMind Healthcare Group hospitals in Croydon.

This role is suitable for a fully qualified Independent Mental Health Advocate (IMHA) with a proven ability to support people under the Mental Health Act. We are not considering trainee positions at this time.

In December 2024 the team was awarded the Quality Performance Mark in Advocacy, a testament to their quality of service providing safe and life-changing support.

SALARY: £30,404 per annum
plus pension contributions (above 4% by salary sacrifice.

REPORTS TO: Advocate Service Manager 

TERM: Permanent, subject to funding, full time (36 hours pw)

BASED AT: Bethlem Royal Hospital, Beckenham BR3 3BX. Advocates are also required to meet clients at different sites throughout Croydon and neighbouring boroughs.

This role supports hybrid working. Other flexible arrangements can be discussed however please note that specific flexible working arrangements such as staggered hours may not be feasible due to operational constraints set by the Hospital.

Data Officer

We are looking for an individual with a keen, analytical mind who is comfortable working with large datasets to be a Data Officer within the Knowledge and Insight team.

Position: SIT62 Data Officer

Location: Home-based, UK, Nationwide. However, occasional travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work related meetings)

Salary: Circa £32,100 per annum (inner London weighting £3,950 per annum or outer London weighting £2,275 per annum may be applied in accordance to where you live)

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Data Services, the Data Officer will meet data needs relating to the management and delivery of supporter and engagement products. You will work alongside three other Data Officers to assess, prioritise and provide solutions including the building of data selections and journeys for direct marketing purposes and the running of supporter data imports and exports.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Delivering data selections, Building automated journeys for fundraising and engagement activity to support increased income generation and supporter retention, ensuring communications are delivered to agreed Service Level Agreements.
• Providing reports and data sets to supporter product owners, managers and delivery staff to help them maximise the impact of activities.

About You

You will have experience of using CRM Dynamics, Faststats and  PeopleStage and or any Donor CRM for marketing purposes. You will receive support while you are learning to use any of the tools and applications the team use and will be actively encouraged in the development of your data and analytical skills. Communication skills play a key part in this role, because you will need to be able to talk through or present selections or solutions to stakeholders.

You will have a proven record of:

• Working with large datasets for marketing purposes and provide solutions and or data in response to enquiries from colleagues and other teams.
• Using a relational customer/supporter database to import and export data to and from external suppliers; including data mapping and the design of appropriate import processes.
• Use of a marketing automation tools such as Faststats and PeopleStage.

About the role

We’re looking for a Financial Accountant with Charities SORP experience to join our Finance Team.

You will be a key member of the Finance team, responsible for supporting month end processing, maintaining the finance system, assisting in the preparation of the statutory accounts and managing audit queries, and advising on technical and charity-specific accounting queries. 

This is an exciting period of change in the finance team with the implementation of a new finance system in October (Microsoft’s Business Central) and this role will be key in supporting that implementation.

Attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement are key to this role to ensure that financial data is correctly recorded and that the charity remains compliant with its regulators.

The Finance team works closely with teams from across the charity and in this role, you will often need to pick up requests flexibly and explain complex financial information to non-financial staff.

What will I be doing?

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.

• Ensuring timeliness, accuracy and completeness of financial information recorded on the finance system. The role holder should be committed to continuous improvement of processes to ensure the financial data recorded is of the highest quality.
• Systems administrator for the key financial systems – these are SUN (General Ledger software), iPOS and JET (invoice approval and management systems) and banking platforms but a system replacement project is underway to implement Microsoft Business Central (General ledger and invoice management). Responsible for managing access rights, training new users, implementing required changes and updates, and acting as the key point of contact with the system providers.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with tax legislation, preparing the quarterly VAT return, and supporting the Head of Finance Operations in making sure that tax recovery is optimised and that the Charity’s VAT accounting methodology is regularly reviewed.
• Day-to-day management of cash in line with treasury policy including maintenance of operational cash flow forecast and making recommendations to the Head of Finance Operations for investment of cash, to ensure optimal return on investment.
• Co-ordinating the audit preparation process by supporting staff across the Charity to prepare high quality information and by preparing audit schedules for auditor review.

The Role

As Policy Manager you will be the driving force of our policy influencing agenda. We count on you to develop nuanced recommendations, grounded in high-quality research, and to work with policy makers to raise awareness, secure buy-in, and achieve real-world change. Reporting directly to the CEO, your main responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring policy developments at the intersection of employment and work-migration. In the short term, in employment you will keep an eye on the Fair Work Agency and the implementation of the government’s Make Work Pay agenda. In immigration, you will monitor developments concerning high-risk employer-sponsored visas.

• Producing nuanced analyses that spell out the implications of policy developments in a clear and accessible manner, and conclude with actionable recommendations.

• Influencing decision-makers, including government, parliamentarians, parliamentary committees and APPGs. This includes evidence submissions, 1:1s, and working in multi-stakeholder environments.

• Contributing to research publications that document the systemic drivers of migrant worker exploitation, and draw on best practice to give policy makers options for change. 

• Contributing to the charity’s strategy, and taking up line management duties as required.

About you

This is a senior role for a candidate who can hit the ground running. We would love to hear from you if you have:

• Good knowledge of UK immigration and/or employment justice, evidenced by academic credentials and/or professional experience.

• At least three years of professional experience in policy influencing. We will consider less if you can demonstrate other relevant experience (i.e. in research or legal advice).

• Excellent analytical and research skills, evidenced by a track-record of publications (such as policy analyses, reports etc).

• Excellent communication skills, including an ability to work effectively in a multi-stakeholder environment.
