ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

A rare opportunity to lead communications and brand for one of the UK’s leading education trusts.

As Head of Communications and Brand at the Harris Federation, you will shape and protect our public profile, leading strategic communications, marketing and media activity across a network of 55 academies.

Reporting to the CEO, you will act as a trusted adviser to senior leaders, driving brand consistency, overseeing high impact campaigns, and leading digital, PR and internal communications to support pupil recruitment, staff attraction and organisational growth. You will also build and lead a high performing MarComms function and manage external agency partnerships.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Strategic Leadership & Executive Advisory

• Develop and lead the Federation’s external communications and brand strategy at the highest level, ensuring coherence across all academies and central services.

Brand Leadership

• Own and embed the Federation’s brand identity, values, and visual standards across all academies and external channels.
• Own and embed brand guidelines, tone of voice, and messaging across all channels to ensure consistency.

External Campaigns & Growth Marketing

• Create comprehensive marketing and communications strategies that align with the Federations aims and increase brand awareness.
• Own and develop high impact external campaigns to support pupil recruitment, reputation and trust building, staff recruitment (in collaboration with Talent Acquisition), and new academy expansions.

MarComms Directorate Leadership

• Build and lead a high performing Marketing & Communications Directorate.
• Set long-term capability requirements and lead workforce planning as the function scales.

About the role

We are a remote team, with most colleagues based outside London. This role will support the whole organisation and requires occasional in-person meetings such as in-person team planning days which you will be expected to travel to.

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior PR and Communications Manager to lead our PR and Communications function and play a key role in raising the Charity’s profile as a global leader in cancer research funding.

You will lead the development and delivery of a proactive and reactive PR and communications strategy that enhances our reputation, drives awareness, and supports fundraising across all income streams.

You will lead a team of experts across marketing, communications, digital, press, content and advocacy, shaping how War Child UK engages supporters, partners and decision-makers. You will oversee the delivery of high impact campaigns and communications on the worst crises affecting children and across a portfolio of bold music, art, gaming and corporate partnerships and events.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Head of Adult Learning, Skills and Employment to join our Senior Management Team and lead one of our core service areas.

This is an exciting opportunity to oversee a wide-ranging, community-based service that supports local residents to develop skills, confidence and pathways into employment. Bringing together our Community Education & Training provision and Employment & Careers services, the role is responsible for ensuring a cohesive offer that supports hundreds of individuals each year from community learning through to work.

A core element of our provision is the delivery of high-quality adult learning, including functional skills (English, maths and ICT), ESOL, community wellbeing, family learning, pathways to employment and selected vocational courses. Our services are shaped by both community need and funding priorities and continue to evolve in response to local demand and emerging opportunities.

Employment support also forms an integral part of our wider offer, both through embedded progression support within Adult Education provision and through separately funded programmes for priority groups, including younger jobseekers (18–24) and older residents (50+). This requires a flexible and responsive approach to programme development, partnership working and service delivery.

Our current provision is primarily funded through Lambeth Adult Learning and the Greater London Authority, with a combined annual budget of approximately £750,000 per year. A significant focus of the role will be overseeing the successful delivery of these contracts and services, ensuring high-quality provision, strong performance and meaningful progression outcomes for residents.

The role:

About the role

Reporting in to the Director of Finance and Corporate Governance, the Head of Governance, Compliance, and Risk will ensure robust governance, compliance, and risk management across Christian Aid and its subsidiaries which enables effective decision making.

The post-holder will be the the trusted advisor and subject matter expert in corporate governance on behalf of the Board, overseeing legal and regulatory compliance, develops and implementing a comprehensive risk management framework, and leading an internal audit programme that fosters organisational learning. The role will enhance and protect Christian Aid’s reputation and financial integrity while embedding best practices in governance and compliance.

Some of the main areas of responsibility for the Head of Governance, Compliance, and Risk include:

• Support effective trustee succession planning, effective Board meetings, and support for the Governance and Nominations Committee to ensure effective Board Governance.
• Provide expert advice on legal structures for subsidiaries, including Christian Aid Ireland.
• Provide high quality briefings with suggested solutions having sought professional advice where more specialist knowledge is required
• Establish and implement a comprehensive risk management framework including registers and appetite statements to guide directorate-level risk management.

• Manage the team to generate high profile media coverage and to create messaging that positions Christian Aid as a credible and influential organisation. 
• Deliver and shape the strategic planning and oversight of Christian Aid’s media and public engagement strategy, raising the profile of the organisation among influencers in politics, public life and the Church, as well as supporters, motivating them to give, act and pray, driving meaningful change.
