Job description

People living with Parkinson's value the services and opportunities Parkinson’s UK provides, delivered by committed and skilled colleagues, volunteers and partner organisations. Following an investment of 1.5 million we have the opportunity to build on the quality and reach of our community services.

We’re looking for someone with experience of team administration, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate when required at all levels internally and externally to fulfil a critical role that underpins the work of the Community Programmes and Group Development team.

About the role

You’ll provide high quality admin support to the Community Programmes and Group Development team. Our team has strategic responsibility for driving forward the Physical Activity and Newly Diagnosed programmes, the ongoing development of Parkinson’s UK local groups, cafes and virtual networks and the provision and maintenance of digital tools to help the community to access the support and activities they need.

All our work is driven by the needs of the community and we work collaboratively with our staff and volunteer colleagues and people affected by Parkinson’s to make continuous improvements to our offer

What you’ll do:

  • Organise online and in-person, internal and external meetings and other events, including booking venues and refreshments, assisting with the production of materials, liaising with participants and speakers, fulfilling mailings and taking bookings as required

  • Maintain digital records on the charity’s data platforms

  • Coordinate, plan and prep key meetings

  • Keep up to date with the team and directorate’s activities in order to provide clear, accurate information to the community

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience of operating in a modern digital workplace, including using digital tools to work collaboratively and productively

  • Proven experience of managing administrative tasks, including collating and maintaining information, as well as coordinating and arranging meetings

  • Experience of introducing administrative processes to enhance team systems

  • Organisational skills including time and process management, with an attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal with a range of audiences

  • Ability to work flexibly and from home with some travel and the occasional overnight stay

This is an exciting time for Parkinson’s UK and we would love you to join us!

Please apply by sending us your CV, together with a detailed supporting statement which will fully demonstrate how you meet all the criteria of the role, as stated in the "What you'll bring" section of the job description.

The successful candidate will be required to

  • provide their own broadband service with a minimum download speed of 2Mb

  • have a confidential space in which to work

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It’s vital that the people who work for Parkinson’s UK are representative of our diverse community. We actively encourage people from all sections of the community to apply, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, age, disability, sexual orientation, or religion.
