Key Responsibilities

Lead social media strategy and engagement across Meta, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube; manage calendar, publishing, housekeeping and audience engagement.

Essential criteria

At least a year’s proven experience in a relevant role within a charity setting.

In-depth, up-to-date knowledge of social media platforms and campaigns, including planning, processes and scheduling tools (e.g., content calendars, workflow management, and best practice for engagement).

Experience creating and managing paid ad campaigns on social media (e.g., Meta Ads Manager; audience targeting, creative testing, optimisation, reporting).

Proficiency in creating digital content, including video and image editing (e.g., Canva, After Effects, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro).

We are excited to be seeking a talented and motivated individual to join Southampton Hospitals Charity as our legacy and in-memory manager to help shape our legacy development programme and in-memory strategy.
The role will involve leading on the operational delivery of both legacy and in-memory marketing and legacy case management. The postholder will implement donor-centric approaches to legacy and in-memory campaigns and events, case management, and supporter stewardship.
We are looking for an individual who is as passionate about fundraising as the work we do as a Charity to join our team. This role will be key, as we launch our ambitious new strategy to grow our income, reach and impact.
Main responsibilities
Legacies
- Develop and implement a comprehensive legacy strategy, identifying new opportunities, products, and campaigns to increase engagement, consideration, and pledger numbers.
- Work across the Charity to ensure legacies are integrated across relevant channels to reach key audiences.
- Build a portfolio of case studies to showcase how legacy giving has had a transformative impact across our hospitals.
- Build and nurture relationships with legacy pledgers and prospects, organising legacy information and engagement events to position the Charity prominently in legator consideration.
- Responsible for legacy case management and be the main contact for our legacy consultancy partner, ensuring all processes are compliant, efficient, and deliver for the Charity and for its supporters.
- Communicate with empathy and professionalism with executors, solicitors, and beneficiaries’ families, including handling enquiries and confirming receipt of legacy notifications.
- Work with the director of operations & resources on disputes and contested legacies, to ensure these are handled appropriately and sensitively.
- Work with the director of finance to ensure all information is recorded appropriately to ensure correct accounting and accrual of legacy income.
- Support the director of finance on legacy matters relating to the Charity’s annual external audit.
In-Memory
- Support with the development and management of stewardship programmes for in-memory donors, ensuring journeys are sensitive, supportive, and effective.
- Have responsibility for the efficient use of all in-memory payment platforms, ensuring that they are utilised correctly, report accurately, and are employed as part of a strong stewardship programme.
- Work closely with the hospital engagement team for the promotion of in-memory giving opportunities
- Working with the marketing & campaigns manager, develop and implement relevant campaigns, including within our hospitals, to increase awareness of in-memory giving
- Support the events & community fundraising officer with events organised by families and friends in memory of loved ones, ensuring appropriate stewardship processes are put into place.
- Look for new opportunities for developing in-memory products, developing cases for support and implementation plans to ensure the Charity’s in-memory programme is at the forefront of new practice.
- Work closely with the grants manager to ensure restricted and tribute funds are able to have an impact in the areas donors wish to see.
- Develop and cultivate strong relationships with supporters by offering suitable opportunities to remember someone special.
- Working with the marketing and communications team, source and develop case stories for use across the in-memory programme and charity.
Knowledge and experience
- Proven experience in legacy administration within the charity sector
- Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration (ILM) is desirable
- Proven experience in developing and delivering legacy, in-memory, and/or individual giving strategies and campaigns across multiple channels.
- Extensive experience in donor stewardship, fine-tuning supporter journeys, and delivering excellence in supporter care.

About the role
We’re looking for a highly creative, organised, and experienced Marketing and Content Executive to support the delivery of engaging, high-impact marketing across our growing, purpose-led organisation.
Working closely with the Senior Marketing and Campaigns Manager, you’ll play a key role in producing and managing digital content, with a strong focus on social media, web design, and copywriting.
In this fast-paced role, you’ll drive our social media strategy, produce engaging content and blogs, and manage the design and research for our online Suicide Prevention Hubs. You’ll create compelling copy and visuals across multiple platforms and develop email campaigns and marketing strategies to boost our training course sales and sign-ups.
You’ll have hands-on experience with tools such as Mailchimp, Canva, WordPress, Google Analytics, Hootsuite, and Adobe Creative Suite.
We’re looking for someone who is self-assured, able to manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality work consistently. You should be comfortable working independently, making informed decisions, and taking ownership of your workload, while receiving guidance, input, and support from your line manager and the Head of Marketing and Communications.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage the creation and delivery of engaging, on-brand content across social media channels, collaborating with the Senior Marketing and Campaigns Manager to enhance reach and visibility.
• Keep our accounts a safe space by taking swift action on abusive or harmful comments, with full support from the team and training in our Social Media policies.
• Oversee the creation, design, and research of our Suicide Prevention Hubs, collaborating with charity partners, writing compelling copy, and coordinating podcasts and blog content.
• Play a key role in driving awareness, sales, and sign-ups for our training courses through effective marketing and promotion.
• Write and edit high-quality copy for blogs, website pages, emails, social posts, and other marketing materials.
• Design on-brand visual assets using Canva to support social, web, email, and print materials.
• Support the creation of award entries, press releases, and promotional materials as needed.
• Help maintain and update our WordPress website and landing pages, ensuring content is up to date, accessible, and optimised for SEO and user experience.
• Support the setup and delivery of email marketing campaigns, including building emails, managing lists, and reviewing performance.
• Contribute to ongoing audience and campaign research, including SEO keyword research, to inform marketing strategies and content planning.
• Assist with campaign reporting and provide administrative support to ensure smooth delivery of projects.

The Role

We are seeking a committed and motivated Head of Fundraising to deliver the OCT’s ambitious fundraising requirements. This is a vital role for the Ocean Conservation Trust (OCT) leading on the development and delivery of the full spectrum of fundraising activities to support our mission. The post holder will be a key contributory member of the Senior Management Team.
The OCT has ambitious fundraising requirements. In addition to the funds raised through the National Marine Aquarium (NMA), the OCT needs a more diverse income stream to drive its core programmes, through the development of appropriate corporate, philanthropic and donation initiatives.
The post holder will need to understand the core programmes and develop appropriate schemes and campaigns to build a wide support network to secure a lasting pipeline of donations. They will need to be entrepreneurial, self-motivated, team focussed, comfortable liaising across the organisation to ensure integration with activities such as communication, research, membership, publications, partnerships and data and information services among others. They must own income targets and lead income growth, thinking in terms of pipelines, ROI, KPIs and lifetime value. In addition, they will be key to maximising use of the customer relationship management (CRM) system.
Overall, this role will be fundamental in developing the OCT as the leading Ocean conservation charity in the UK, generating significant new and diverse revenue streams to drive the Charity’s ambition. They must be capable of moving OCT beyond NMA visitor income, building a resilient, mixed portfolio.
You will lead a team of 3 staff members and be accountable for achieving specific funding goals to deliver our strategic plans. The post is based at the National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth, UK. Flexible working arrangements include 3 days office/2 days home.
Applicants for the post will have a minimum of five years of fundraising leadership in the charity or non-profit sector with a proven track record of target-driven fundraising.

Essential skills/qualifications
• Significant experience of fundraising leadership in charity or non-profit sector
• Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising
• Thorough understanding of fundraising principles.
• Experience with individual giving, legacies and regular giving programmes from a range of socioeconomic groups
• Experience with campaign-driven projects with specific targets
• Proven success with donor prospecting, nurturing, stewardship and recognition
• Experience in managing a donor pipeline
• Proven success with grant applications
• Experience in utilising CRM systems to grow and manage fundraising prospects
• Ability to lead / manage team(s) to provide operational and strategic direction
• Ability to manage an area of responsibility including working with budgets and creating and contributing to the construction of a business plan
• Excellent communication skills with ability to confidently interact with individuals at all levels, internally and externally with stakeholders and customers
• Contract negotiation/experience skills

As Senior Marketing Manager, you will play a central role in delivering this mission by overseeing the day-to-day operation of the marketing department, ensuring the effective execution of integrated campaigns and digital activity that grows awareness, engagement, and revenue across Waverley Abbey’s family of products and brands. You will work collaboratively with the Head of Marketing to translate strategic priorities into effective, well-executed marketing activity, coordinating the work of the wider team, championing a digital-first approach, and ensuring all output is consistent with our brand guidelines, increasing brand awareness and delivering significant revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities 1.
Operational Leadership & Team Coordination
> Provide day-to-day coordination and workflow management across the marketing function, overseeing the work of the Junior Marketing Manager (College), Digital Marketing Assistant, CRM & Data Assistant, and relevant freelancers.
> Ensure prioritisation, capacity planning, and timely delivery of campaigns, content, and marketing assets.
> Work with the Head of Marketing in building a collaborative, high-trust culture marked by creativity, excellence, and servant hearted leadership.
> Help develop team capability through informal coaching, guidance, and operational support.
> Support the Head of Marketing in strategic decisions, messaging considerations, and brand positioning, including helping to manage and mitigate any reputational risk to Waverley Abbey. 2. Campaign Planning, Delivery & Performance
> Lead the planning, rollout, and optimisation of integrated marketing campaigns, ensuring they are delivered on time, on brand, on budget and exceeding targets.
> Work with product owners (College, Every Day with Jesus, House & Estate, Fundraising, House of Prayer) to understand goals, shape briefs, and translate objectives into actionable marketing plans and activity.
> Manage the integrated marketing calendar, ensuring strong forward planning and cross-department coordination.
> Analyse and report on campaign performance, audience growth, and acquisition costs, applying insights to continual improvement.
3. Marketing Execution and Channel Management
> In collaboration with the Head of Marketing, oversee the execution of Waverley Abbey’s digital communications, including email, social media, websites, SEO, and paid digital advertising, ensuring alignment with the strategic priorities.
> Lead the ongoing optimisation and enhancement of Waverley Abbey’s digital ecosystem, coordinating with internal teams and external agencies to improve user experience, engagement, and conversion.
> Develop and deliver world-class email marketing activity, including planning, segmentation, content development, and copywriting.
> Ensure consistent brand and messaging application across all digital touchpoints.
4. Brand Alignment & Creative Workflow
> Support brand guardianship by ensuring all marketing output adheres to Waverley Abbey’s Brand Guidelines and reflects our identity, voice, and values.
> Partner with the creative team to ensure smooth creative workflows, timely asset delivery, and strong quality control.
> Work with external agencies as needed to support campaign execution and growth initiatives.
5. Stakeholder Collaboration & Cross-Organisational Working
> Collaborate with internal stakeholders across the organisation and strategic partnerships to understand needs, shape initiatives, and ensure campaigns support strategic objectives and revenue goals.
