Head of Finance and People - 3 days a week role - National

This is a newly created role, fully remote where you are required to come to London four time a year. - Lead AdviceUK's compliance management, by working with staff leading specific compliance areas to ensure the charity meets all UK legal and regulatory requirement and undertakes all required, filing and reporting. As part of this work closely with the Data Protection Officer to ensure data protection and cyber security requirements are met and with the HR function to ensure health and safety requirements are met.
- Lead the SLT and key suppliers in developing a business continuity plan that ensures AdviceUK can continue to deliver its strategic objectives and support its members in times of business interruption. Once established ensure it is regularly reviewed and tested.
- Ensure the development and implementation of financial and people management policies and processes that support AdviceUK's work and culture

We are looking for an exceptional philanthropic fundraising leader, with experience of leading an appeal and first-hand programme management skills, to undertake a one year maternity cover as the Interim Head of Child Opportunity Appeal. This role is offered on a full-time permanent basis paying a salary between £47,000 to £57,000 per annum with flexible hybrid working arrangements at their London office.
Reporting to the Deputy Head of Business Growth, this new role will be responsible for supporting Abt Britain to scale its work in the UK through the acquisition of new business. They will enable Abt to position effectively for new opportunities and to lead and manage proposal efforts. The post holder will be expected to build and manage strategic partnerships and support the development of efficient and effective business development systems and processes.
They are looking for someone with demonstrable business development experience, including capture, proposal writing and proposal management, preferably on winning proposals for FCDO commercial contracts. They are looking for someone with demonstrable knowledge of and experience with preparing bids, negotiating, and managing 7 & 8 figure FCDO contracts. The Ideal candidate will have knowledge of bidding for governance, climate/environment, or economic growth opportunities.

- The scale-up of pioneering enterprises
- The development of scalable partnerships that enable smallholder farmers to increase their income
- The incubation of new intermediaries and enterprises
The successful candidate will explore opportunities to create new business models and market interventions, as well as providing deep financial and commercial expertise to our Programme team.
Responsibilities include:
- providing business advice and mentoring support to SF strategic partners
- managing grants and contracts
- identifying market failures and opportunities
- developing and managing strategic projects and partnerships
- contributing to the delivery of the annual business plan.
We are looking for someone with substantial experience of working in Africa (or India) with:
- A degree in mechanical engineering
- A background in business or commerce, with a practical understanding of marketing, finance, business development
- Experience and networks in the agriculture sector
- Experience working with complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, including low-income consumers

Your new role
The Deputy Head of FP&A has a key role to play in developing the Financial Planning and Analysis function, particularly in the direct line management of the Management Accounting and Analysis team to deliver core management accounting and reporting services, helping to support the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis to further embed Finance Business Partnering across the organisation and to bring a greater level of consistency, efficiency and quality to financial reporting and planning processes.
You will specifically act to support and oversee the work of the Management Accounting and Analysis team, including developing the capabilities of three newly created Finance Analyst posts through their work on financial analysis and monitoring of grant programmes and wider projects, understanding the business and providing meaningful financial insight and advice to support the delivery of strategic and operational objectives. The grants area requires some development in terms of processes and procedures.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience of financial planning and analysis covering all aspects of budgeting, forecasting and management reporting for a complex organisation
- Experience of finance business partnering, acting as trusted advisor providing insight and analysis to senior colleagues
- Experience of problem-solving and implementing process improvements, particularly in relation to internal reporting (e.g. efficient design of Excel reports)
- Experience of developing and managing teams, motivating staff to deliver results

This is a key senior role within the Fundraising Directorate, collaborating closely with the Senior Corporate Manager – New Business and the fundraising leadership team to grow income and awareness from corporate sources. You will manage FareShare’s leading 6-figure accounts with the top 90 food companies in the UK as well as have the opportunity to diversify their portfolio and feed into their strategy to grow income from their corporate partners.
As Senior Corporate Fundraising Manager (Account Management), you will:
- Successfully lead the Corporate Partnerships account team to develop and deliver on ambitious growth strategy across existing partnerships working towards a team target of £9m
- Work collaboratively with the Senior Corporate Manager – New Business to deliver a seamless strategy, focusing on the transition of partners through business planning and maximising lifetime value
- Maintain oversight of the corporate partnership’s portfolio pipeline and work with the Senior Corporate Manager – New Business to ensure a cohesive and collaborative transition of new partners into account management
- Lead the development of new corporate engagement and income generating opportunities to enhance partnerships, deepen relationships and provide value to the organisation
Ideal skills and experience:
- Demonstrable experience of delivering 6-figure partnerships at scale in either a charity or commercial environment
- Experience of providing excellent relationship management and stewardship resulting in increased levels of financial support from partners
- Ability to line manage a team of four and experience in successfully leading a team
- Experience of managing multi-faceted strategic partnerships that deliver both financial and non-financial impact to an organisation
