ROLE DETAILS 

Standing Voice is looking for an experienced Fundraising Manager based in or near London to join our UK team. This is an exciting and challenging role in a creative and focused working environment, within an organisation with multiple programmes and funding streams across 3 countries. This position suits an ambitious and experienced fundraiser, equipped with excellent written and oral communication skills and a depth of donor management experience. 

The successful candidate will report to the Executive Director and be tasked with advancing & implementing Standing Voice’s Fundraising Strategy including writing grants proposals; diversifying & scaling-up the organisation’s income streams; and managing donor relations and reporting. As well as working alongside UK fundraising, programmes and finance colleagues, the Fundraising Manager will work directly with our teams in Tanzania and Malawi to design and generate project proposals.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Corporate Fundraising Manager to work closely with the Head of Programme Funding to drive new donor engagement and secure sustainable, multi-year funding. The Helen Bamber Foundation is a human rights organisation with an international reputation for providing medical consultation, therapeutic care, legal protection, and practical support to survivors of trafficking and torture.  We are a team of therapists, doctors, lawyers, caseworkers and administrators who help men, women and children recover from the emotional and physical damage they have suffered because of torture, human trafficking, or other forms of cruelty.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE 

As  Psychotherapist within the Helen Bamber Foundation, you will work alongside our current Senior Psychotherapist and be responsible for supporting the Head of Therapies and the Team Manager in providing a comprehensive range of therapeutic interventions to clients of the Helen Bamber Foundation.

In addition to providing psychotherapy, stabilization, psychoeducation, and trauma focused therapy, this role will include delivery of psychological assessments for both medico-legal and clinical purposes, as well as delivery of clinical supervision to staff from non-clinical backgrounds who nonetheless have significant client contact, and supervision of assistant psychologists. As you develop in the role you will also have opportunities to contribute to the on-going development of the service and at times, the role may include input into policy, research and fundraising and delivery of consultancy and training. 

We are looking for someone who is committed to working therapeutically with individuals who have experienced human rights abuses and who have developed trauma spectrum disorders as a result. The successful applicant will ideally have proven experience in working therapeutically with this client group, have a passion for human rights work beyond the individual client work, and a desire to contribute to effecting change at a policy level.  This role requires the ability to be with the complex and sometimes harrowing details of a client’s experience, and to react and respond creatively and appropriately to their needs.Additionally, you will be knowledgeable and experienced in consultation and assessment including risk management, and have competence, or a commitment to receiving training, in at least one model of trauma therapy such as NET or EMDR.

As part of the organisation’s ongoing growth plans, they are currently in the process of improving the strength in their financial accounting team and improving their financial systems. This has led to a need to recruit a financial accountant in support of this ambitious plan. As the financial accountant you will work closely with the wider team a well as the finance business partner and head of finance to work on process improvement, and drive the charity forward.

Key responsibilities:

• Responsible for timely year end process and preparation of the annual consolidated statutory financial and lead statements, including liaising with the charity’s auditors and dealing with audit queries
• Ensuring that all balance sheets accounts are reconciled frequently, and any differences are dealt with accordingly, including bank reconciliations, intercompany, fundraising income and restricted fund reports

Key Tasks

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all high value fundraising activity, including proposals, applications, and donor interactions, and be able to regularly report this activity back to the Head of Philanthropy.

The Margins Project, Union Chapel’s Frontline charity, work with people who are homeless or who are at risk of homelessness and helps address pertinent social justice issues these communities face.

The charity runs three integrated programmes:

• a community drop-in programme providing access to nutritious hot meals, and limited access to showers & laundry services.

• advice and engagement programme providing one-to-one as well as group advice service on benefits and housing, and onward referrals to pertinent services.

• support employment programme offers a paid catering training to 10 people who have had experience of homelessness, substance misuse, mental ill-health, and or imprisonment.

Our range of services are designed to help guests (service users) at varying stages, from having no roof over their head to getting back into employment.

This role offers an opportunity for an experienced adviser to help shape and evolve Margins services. Experiences on the ground at the drop-in programme inform the charity’s strategic direction. The role will involve expanding our partner network to link into pertinent statutory and other charitable organisations that provide services that will help our guests with their housing, substance misuse, recidivism, and mental health challenges.

We work closely with people on an individual case work basis to get guests off the streets, into hostels or temporary accommodation where possible, and work with private and social landlords on a range of issues. We support and represent the people we work with on the phone and in person, including at the council, the doctors, the job centre, and benefits tribunals.

Our drop-ins run on Mondays and Wednesdays 11:00am to 1:00pm where attendance is currently from 65 to 75 guests. The advice and engagement worker works more intensively with smaller numbers of up to 20. The demand for more follow up work and advocacy support has been increasing over the last two years and this in-house advice worker is critical for this demand.

Working collaboratively with the Drop-in Community worker (currently vacant), the head chef, and a small group of dedicated volunteers, you will be responsible for the support of a caseload of guests, some with complex needs, and will undertake key work responsibilities including registering the guests, identifying their housing, benefit and personal needs and conducting all necessary follow ups including occasional advocacy support, where deemed necessary.

Main Responsibilities:

Lead on service delivery, management and governance

– To provide strong leadership for the service based on a clear vision for the service, clarity of standards and outcomes to be achieved.

– With the Head of CYP support the strategic development, planning and delivery of specialist services for children and families ensuring an effective co-ordinated offer for these families is in place and to develop new childcare settings as appropriate.

– Work with the Development Manager to support the Managers and Co-ordinators to write funding bids and reports for new and existing work

– To ensure childcare services meets both national, local performance and quality indicators in an effective and timely way.

– Ensure all key policies and processes are up to date and fit for purpose.

– Work collaboratively with Quality and Insight Manager to ensure services deliver value for money, within budgets and are evidence based, ensuring that services are rigorously evaluated working with the in terms of quality and outcomes and that they continuously improve and are provided in response to children’s needs.

Training and Development

– Contribute to an in-house training programme for CYP staff and volunteers, which is also offered to all YMCA East Surrey staff and volunteers and key partners

– Manage, and when required, deliver in-house training sessions supported by CYP Managers and Co-ordinators

– Work with the Head of CYP and HR to develop volunteering, apprenticeship, and traineeship opportunities across the department

Provide effective management and support and demonstrate the values and culture of YMCA East Surrey.

– Ensure that all activities demonstrate the values and culture of YMCA East Surrey.

– Work with the Head of CYP/Deputy CEO to support the implementation of YMCA East Surrey strategy and Operational Plan.

– Any other duties are required to be performed within the grade and renumeration of the role.

Job Purpose:To be responsible for the management and effective delivery of multi-disciplinary services for children and families. The aim of the services managed by this post is to provide support to children and families to help to belong, contribute and thrive within East Surrey. Also, to support the HCYP with quality, development and training for staff and volunteers across the Children and Young People services. 

Hours of work:  35 hours a week,Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm with flexibility

Location : YMCA Sports and Community Centre, Princes Road, Redhill, Surrey, RH1 6JJ .

Annual leave: Five weeks (pro-rata) plus bank holidays. Holidays increase after two years’ service to a maximum of five weeks pro-rata after six years’ service. The holiday year runs from 1 April to 31 March each year.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• You will manage and grow Stronger Together’s business relations in a variety of sectors, both in the UK and globally to generate funding and drive impact. This includes taking the lead in developing project proposals for clients.

Who you are:

• An experienced professional with an in-depth understanding of and subject matter expertise on working with businesses on responsible recruitment, ethical labour practices and modern slavery, and significant experience in business engagement/developing and managing senior management corporate sponsor relations (min. 5 years’ experience).

• The ideal candidate should have experience in a business development role, a track record in building and developing business relations, and strong experience of giving presentations, delivering pitches and closing deals.

• Experienced in maintaining and developing corporate sponsor relations including writing client and grant proposals.

• An excellent trainer, with experience of delivering training to businesses.

• A strong project manager and great organiser, with the ability to set and meet demanding targets and deadlines, and to hold others accountable to those.

• A professional who has worked with or within the construction, manufacturing, consumer goods, apparel, finance or care sector on responsible business behaviour.

• An excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, with experience of developing and building new successful working relationships with a range of stakeholders, as well as confidence in representing the organisation professionally at a variety of events.

• A motivated and enthusiastic worker, able to work independently and with remote colleagues/stakeholders.

• Someone with a good eye for detail, whilst retaining sight of the bigger picture.

As part of the organisation’s ongoing growth plans, they are currently in the process of a large scale Process improvement programme. This has led to a need to recruit a project accountant in support of this ambitious plan. As the Project Accountant you will work closely with the regional teams to ensure a more comprehensive purchase order system.

Key areas of responsibilities;

• Engage with and consider the needs of a broad range of stakeholders, to develop timely, accurate and efficient financial management information.
• Consider current technical functionality and whether any additional software is required to meet the financial reporting needs of the organisation.
• Enable project-based reporting, working in collaboration with the Head of Planning and the Data and Insight Team to integrate financial data with information on staff time and qualitive information to support analysis of how resources are employed to achieve impact in our work.
• Develop purchase order functionality and workflows within X-Ledger.
• Review and update the suite of financial policy and procedures impacted by the change including Procurement, Contract Approval and Financial Delegations.
• Engage with stakeholders to launch the purchase order system and support the wider organisation through this period of change.

Who are we looking for?

• A formally qualified, part qualified or qualified by experience accountant with relevant experience of accounting gained in a large, complex organisation (this could be commercial, Not-for-Profit or practice)

This team is looking for someone to join them as a Challenge and Public Events Assistant on a 6-month contract, to be the first point of contact for fundraising products, In-Celebration and community supporters, as well as our carol concert attendees, delivering exceptional supporter care and building long-lasting relationships. They will also provide administrative support to the Senior Challenge & Public Events Officers to deliver a portfolio of fundraising events and activities, as well as take the lead on small projects.

This will be a rewarding opportunity to play a role in giving the dogs and cats in our care a better life, and we are looking for someone who has experience of delivering outstanding supporter/customer care, is able to work collaboratively with colleagues from other teams, and has a full, valid UK driving license and is confident driving vans and other vehicles.
